Friendly and helpfull staff, fabulous location
There isnt much for little children in the playground area. The pool was dirty and unkept when we arrived and the pool area wasnt secured properly with a locking gate which is a huge safety issue if unaccompanied children go in there. When we arrived to the chalet it had been cleaned properly and the sliding door didnt lock which meant i had to stay there all afternoon awaiting it to be fixed. The bedding was dirty and hadnt been changed from previous occupant although the beds had been made up like this. The maid service was extreemly poor and we paid extra for this service. Reception staff were rude and univiting. We were uniformed and the cleanliness was shocking.
Its a lovely place and a very nice chalet with ample space and fairly child friendly.
It smelt a bit musty, which seemed to be due to the damp weather and the thatched roof.
We stayed in one of the self-catering cottages, which was spacious, beautifully designed and in a peaceful forest location near a very nice pool. Everything seemed to be new and we liked the gas fireplace in the open-plan lounge area and the large wooden porch with braai.
The only downside and I can seriously only think of one, our gorgeous almost perfect little self catering unit at Arminel is possibly the most stinky damp smelling stink house we have ever stayed in!! A whole lot of airing seemed to help a little but left locked up for even half an hour was enough time for it to work up a big old damp stink! A real big pity I say!!
Hogsback is a little town definitely worth a visit at least once in a life time. The self catering unit we stayed at at the Arminel Hotel was spacious and perfect for our little family of four.
Food was great
The dining area is out-dated.
We enjoyed the beautiful accommodation, stunning surroundings and tranquillity the Arminel had to offer. The scenic footpaths was an added bonus. This hotel is great value for money.
Horrible smell, extreme mustiness not dissipated by heaters on overnight. Lights not working, bulbs missing, towel rail coming off wall, tiles off and coming off wall, shower compartment coming to pieces, kitchen and bathroom taps very loose, stained stair carpet, intruder alarm going off in middle of night for no reason
The location was fine and nearby Lighthouse Ranch eatery
Stayed in nr. 11 cottage Needed some maintenance on bathroom accessories.

Setting/ Food/ Chalet
The entire town is in a forest and the comfortable cottages at Arminel Hotel felt like staying in a fairy tale forest.
Rooms were well furnished and spacious.
The lounge smelt as if furniture had got wet and never dried properly. We had to air the cottage every time we came back.
The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed plus more
There was a conference the same night we were there, so couldn't use the bar or restaurant.
Comfortable, well equipped chalet
The fact that at 19h50 that the reception, bar and even the security were firmly closed!
The space of the accommodation!
Having to book ahead for dinner No breakfast included in tariff
