Great hospitality, friendly staff.
Minibar in the room is too small!
The staff is awesome, they make you feel at home. It is well decorated, and clean. The overall atmosphere is great. Free quality wifi.
Breakfast offered very few choices, and not a very international menu. The room was not well illuminated.
Clean facilities, friendly staff and the fact that I could walk to the office.
The mattress in Room no: 1 was a bit on the thin side-other wise no complaints.
This was our second stay at the Ikhaya Lodge, the first being quite a few years ago. Although we could see that it is time for a few renovations/upgrades again, we will always recommend this hotel for a comfortable, clean, value-for-money stay right in the center of Cape Town. The hotel has a beautiful modern African theme throughout, and is perfectly situated in the quiet, yet trendy, Dunkley Square. Although you are right in the midst of the City, the location of the hotel, with its amazing view of Table Mountain, gives the impression that you've stepped out into a peaceful suburban neighbourhood. The rooms are small - but the prices reflect that, so you know what you are paying for. What we love are the gorgeous enclosed balconies extending from each room, with a seating area and amazing city and mountain views. For breakfast the hotel offers a continental buffet accompanied by a hot breakfast. We often do one-night stays in Cape Town, and Ikhaya will stay on our "possible" list for these times.
What we were dissappointed in this time: - The previous time we were there we were really made to feel at home by the staff, which was one of the reasons we returned. This time the staff were polite, but not attentive at all, and I would even say preoccupied and disregarding. - Check in took very long as at first they couldn't find my booking and thereafter the printers and computers didn't work. - The one staff member who was very friendly and attentive was our breakfast waitress. We felt very sorry for her though, as she was the only service staff on duty and was running herself ragged to attend to all the patrons who streamed in for breakfast. I would suggest that management increase the staff complement when they know they are going to be full.
The lodge was a bit cold, as it was winter when we stayed there.
Ikhaya is a most friendly facility. Kind people, and the atmosphere is just optimal for either a business or leisurely stay.
Stay was too short.
iKhaya has a very relaxed and homely atmosphere and staff is helpful and friendly.
We missed having coffee/tea making facilities in the room.
Location, decor, view, simple breakfast
Nice staff, good attitude
wifi not convenence,Room is nether too cold or too hot to live in
Ikhaya Lodge is beautifully situated at Dunkley Square in the centre of Cape Town. A quit quare, resembles a square somewhere in France. The lodge is beautiful, very nice rooms with a view on Table Mountain. An easy walk (10-15 mins) from Cape Town centre Adderley Street. Nice staff, very friendly. Lovely place, have stayed here several times before and surely will stay again when in Cape Town.
Breakfast is very simple. Just bread, cheese (tasteless like plastic), jam, yoghurt, fruit, coffee, juice. Eggs etc have to ordered extra (and paid for extra).
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location within walking distance of city centre. Parking available.
Can be noisy at night from the cafes on the other side of the square. Dunkley Square is actually a car park which can also be noisy.
A very nice place to stay. Looking at the Table Mountain across the lodge. We have had a very plesant stay in a lovely room in African style. The staff is very kind and helpfull. When we come back to Cape Town we surely will stay in this lodge again.
close proximity to facilities in Cape Town
The friendly staff and the view
Wall are a bit thin and we could hear the neighbours. No choice of eggs at breakfast time.
It is so central!! Despite the fact that there were "millions"of tourists in Cape Town over Christmas; it was so quiet and peaceful at Ikhaya lodge! We will definitely stay there again!
Internet connection was a problem; probably due to the high volume of internet users! Definitely NOT a major problem or deterrent.
Breakfast was very poor, personal at reception was very kind, but in the restaurant you didn't see anybody, only old bread, some ham and cheese and yoghurt, old coffee! Rooms were old and "smoezelig"
Good Bar. Location in City
