Upon arrival, the front desk attempted to charge me far more than the amount Booking.com arranged. The amount was also more than the hotel charges when booking directly. The first room they put us in was not even clean yet, and the room they moved us into had not been set up with welcome chocolates. There was no bulb in the light fitting above the mirror, and they made the excuse that the wiring was faulty - in which case they should not use that room. Upon insistance that they check again, it was simply a missing bulb. The first room's mugs were filthy and chipped. the second room' bath plug didn't work, forcing only the shower to be available. We had a couple booked into the room next door, and the staff took 2 hours to bring their room key. We could not get hold of house-keeping to bring clean mugs, and room service could only provide tea cups. When checking out, the front desk staff were incredibly rude. The first gentlemen responded to our "Good Morning, how are you?" with an abrupt "Fine". You do not get to have this kind of "bad day" when working the front desk of an "elite" hotel. The lady who ended up checking us out, after we laid our simple complaints on the table, rudely responded that we should appreciate that our check-in experience at least went smoothly - which, I reminded her, it had not. I will not stay there again. I will go out of my way to recommend that people do not stay there. I have been to many places, much cheaper might I add, that had far better service and that were better prepared for their guests.
The size of the rooms, and the fact that they led outdoors and not into a corridor. The one House-keeping lady was friendly (albeit not too helpful or efficient.) The venue used for the function was good and the food was lovely.
