Garden, birds, Phil, Sue & Tessa, quietness
A bit bad luck with the weather, a bit cold and humid, but just ask for a heating
Seeing birds at breakfast. Nice breakfast.
Wonderful and warm hostess and host. Delicious breakfasts in the most agreeable surroundings.
Lots of homecooking and added extras to a very good breakfast. Sue and Phil were very welcoming and full of useful information. The number of birds in the garden was amazing.
Nothing at all bad to say.
Sue and Phil are the most delightful hosts. Sue is a walking oracle, a mine if information and her breakfasts are to die for. A lovely veranda to watch the birds whilst having breakfast.
not too much opportunity to be alone in environment
breakfast and welcome was fabulous
Kingfisher country House is a wonderful old house owned by a delightful couple, sue and Phil. Sue has a fabulous knowledge of birds and has been feeding them for 17 years. As we ate a fantastic breakfast there must have been at least 20 different birds that came to feed in the tree that was a metre from our table.....fascinating.
Nothing to dislike. As someone said, the rooms are not flashy - just charming and very comfortable at a good price.
Location is perfect for day trips. Not too far away from main area but secluded enough to escape the tourists. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts.
Hosts Sue and Phil are amazing! They are attentive, helpful and personable. We were mesmerized by the wonderful birds that frequent Kingfisher Country House's gardens. We plan on returning and spending more time at Kingfisher!
Internet in main room only and temperamental.
Relaxing situation. No TV which was refreshing. The hosts work very hard to ensure you are comfortable, informed of local highlights and fed with delicious breakfasts.
Birds, bed and breakfast
All good, the owners and the staff are the best.
One of the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at, and certainly the nicest: Lovely hosts, great location, fantastic, home-cooked breakfast and spectacular birds, including Knysna turaco and various other endemics, in the garden at 2m from your breakfast table! Room is comfortable, and lots of information is provided which is very helpful, although there are plenty of things to do in the area, so that our 4-night’s stay wasn’t nearly long enough…
Very helpful hosts. A beautiful house in a lush, green garden surrounded by exotic birds. Wonderful Christmas breakfast on the patio.
The perfect place to stay – gorgeous, quiet surroundings, beautifully decorated rooms and lots of different bird species to see. Delicious, lovingly presented breakfast on the front porch with several Knysna Loeries looking on. Sue, Phil and dog Tessa are the perfect hosts - very warm and welcoming! Sue gave us lots of helpful tips on what to see and do in the Wilderness area and the beautiful Kingfisher walking trails are very close by. This is a wonderful place for bird and nature enthusiasts who cherish British atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and would have loved to stay longer - we will definitely return when we visit South Africa again. Very highly recommended!
Lovely breakfast, friendly and helpful hosts, gorgeous bed and linens, spacious suite. We enjoyed our stay and will return!
Absolutely nothing, all was perfect.
Absolutely everything.Very nice location at the edge of National Park, tastefuly arranged rooms, ideal place for peacefull rest. But what made the place exceptional were the hosts-charming, caring and simply great! Definitely worth recommendation.
Nothing but if really picky it was too far to walk to restaurants but they did provide courtesy taxi.
Breakfast whilst being entertained the wild birds. Breakfast menu was also exceptional
Apart from the Country House being a beautiful and welcoming establishment, what makes the staying a real treat is the owner, Sue. with extremely helpful advises about anything:restaurants, whale watching locations (apparently they loooove wilderness) attractions and just about everything you'd like to know, she will give you the best tip and with a smile :). the birds are a huge and welcoming bonus to stay there and of course we wont forget the beautiful Labrador. highly recommended, and for a reason!
Great hosts, very comfortable room, and a superb breakfast. All in all, a wonderful place to stay - quiet, serene and a bird lovers paradise
The lock on our door did not work properly, and someone stepped into our room while we were in bed already. The owner is the nicest lady, but gave us too much information about almost everything that we were not going to visit in the area. (we were just on our way to our next stop, not spending much time in the area, which we have told her repeatedly)
The place -and especially the bird garden- looks amazing! The breakfast was very good.
Nothing - we enjoyed our stay thoroughly.
Very friendly owners beautiful quiet location and the best breakfasts we have ever had at a Band B. Many thanks
Nothing that we disliked; but people who like things all modern and flashly might not like this charming b&b.
Secluded setting in a superb natural environment. Very comfortable accommodation leading into the house's large sitting-room with TV and lots of books, especially about birds. The birds here are wonderfully varied. They eat at the feeders in the trees alongside the verandah where we had our splendid breakfasts. The owners are delightful people and do everything they can to help.
We had a great stay at the Kingfisher. Beautiful room in a great garden, just a couple of kilometers from wilderness (with excellent restaurants) and loads of activities around the corner. We went kanoeing and hiking in the National park just a couple of 100 meters away. The hostess was very kind and provided us with all the information we wanted and needed. Homemade cookies, muffins,... and a great breakfast. We only stayed for one night. But longer would not have been a punishment at all.
It was so good we decided to stay a few days longer. Starting each day with a splendid breakfast on the balcony surrounded by colourful singing birds (incl. the Knysna Loerie). Spotless rooms and very warm people. What more do you need? Sue knows the best restaurants, activities and other spots to discover at the Garden Route.
