The lodge is in a perfect location in beautiful surroundings.
The standard room feels very budget. The bedding for winter is insufficient and there was no extra blanket in the cupboard. The shower head pointed to the wall and was impossible to shower without holding onto the shower head. Room dark and very small window with no real view
Staff at the lodge were friendly and courteous. Dinner at Terroir was excellent. Good value in terms of room size.
Not really a hotel. Seems more suited for self catering & group / family stays. Though the scenery is beautiful, the view from Kleine Zalze Lodge itself is disappointing and overlooks nothing more than a housing estate and golf course.
1) The staff were friendly, well informed, helpful and professional. 2) The room was lovely for the most part and it was great to get a complimentary bottle of wine and a free wine tasting. All the toiletries were also lovely. 3) Breakfast was great and the view at the restaurant was magnificent.
1) I was expecting a mountain view and got mainly a building view (some swimming pool and some construction site view) not much mountain. I think you should be more specific on the kind of views one can expect because I was disappointed to not get much of a a view (at the rate we were paying). 2) The room's balcony was dirty (it had building debris lying on it and old pieces of plants material) and I think the outdoor chairs could have been put in its place outside because we only noticed them next to the tv cabinet when we were checking out. It made us feel as if it was a last thought to put us in that room/like you were not expecting us, it did not make us feel special. On a rare romantic night away, we wanted to feel special. 3) The guy that checked us in told us that Pinotage 1 and 2 were using the parkings so we needed park down the road where the staff park. Again, we did not feel special at all. It was strange no one showed us to our room or showed us where to park. 4) We were not pre-warned to booked at Terrior. It was highly disappointing to get to Kleine Zalze and realize that we could not get a seat at the restaurant. It is a big reason why we choose to stay at Kleine Zalze. 5) The Lodge's restaurant food (dinner) was quiet disappointing except for the dessert. The fish of the day (cod) was dry my husband ordered a rare steak that arrived almost well done. We sent his steak back and even though the replacement was rare it was still terribly tasteless and a bad cut of meat. 6) Booking.com mentions heating in the room. The air-conditioner's heat settings did not work and we were pretty cold all the time. 7) We got to the wine tasting just before 5:30pm so that we were on time for the last tasting session but then had to wait at least 20 min to get some wine, this worried us because the tasting room was closing at 6pm. Our first impression of the tasting room was also shocking.
The shower was pretty much unusable, very poor pressure, most of the nozzles blocked, and the wall fitting was loose so it kept on pointing towards the wall.
Wine tasting and bottle of wine included in booking
Underfloor heating in bathrooms were great
There was no wash cloth? Only towels
Everything was super. The quietness and the heated bathroom floor tiles.
We could not watch Kyknet chanel.
Everything about Kleine Zalze was amazing!
Location and security and wine are excellent !!!
The suites were cold and the firewood provided was too little. There was no filter coffee provided for only instant. I booked having seen specials for dinner included at Terrior ... Which was closed ? The Inhouse restaurant menu should be broader if the actual restaurant is closed.
The view and the room was nice.
The staff were unfriendly and wanted to move us from our breakfast table in the sun, even though there were 2 other tables they could've added together to accommodate the other guests.
The view was awesome
Bit noisy at night
Beautiful setting, friendly staff. Clean, affordable. One of the best stays I had in Stellenbosch all these years. Brilliant restaurant! Comfortable, clean room. Worth every cent.
Just the internet was slightly slow, but not worse than anywhere else in Stellenbosch.
The facilities were very good and the personnel are absolutely 5 star! The fireplace and heated floors added to the comfort of our stay.
No handshower in the bathroom. The only thing I missed during our stay.
Everything was wonderful, thank you!
That we had to leave so soon.
Friendly and efficient staff. Beautiful view of mountains. Open spaces for walks and cycling. Very pleasant experience.
Breakfast (the restaurant was not good)
Pool area, friendly staff, fantastic breakfast
Linen didn't seem clean or well kept. I would definitely suggest upgrading room as there was no view from room at all
This was our first visit. We were very well received and taken to our rooms by a very nice staff member. We had breakfast the next morning and were well treated by the morning staff on breakfast duty. We will certainly be back for the comfortable stay, and maybe for my husband to use the golf course. Wish we had stayed there before.
We went for a couple of drinks early evening and felt the staff on duty were not as visitor friendly as were the reception staff. No issues to complain of in particular, but the attitude could be improved upon.
Facilities of the lodge/ resort. Excellent restaurant (Terroir) on the premise, great breakfast with excellent views. Excellent location. Complementary wine-tasting as welcome. Free-wifi.
The hotel room was outdated. The fact that the facilities of the lodge/ resort are that great and of added value make that I would consider going here again. However when looking for quality rooms that have something 'extra' I would not stay here. Too basic and old fashioned, definitely requires an update.
Location, views, access to wine cellar and very good restaurant. Comfortable beds
No soap in the bathroom
Beautiful setting. Lovely pool.
Nothing negative to say
The dec was very good Linen, towels, bed and furnishings excellent Restaurant staff were excellent Reception and all outside staff curiouser, and very polite.
When I reported on my first day that there was a leek from my shower over bath arangement that caroused a pol of water to spread from the shower through to the toilet area, I was told it would be delt with, but it was not. The following day I reported it again to reception and was told it would be delt with as by now the water had been sitting in the bathroom for 24 hours. Still nothing was done. Sadly this is not good enough Mopping it up did nothing As soon as we used the shower again the bathroom was flooded!!! Katherine Smith
comfortable rooms, proximity to golf course, free WiFi breakfast in restaurant

Magnificent location and the spacious suites. The Teroire Restaurant is a "bucket list " experience.
