Score from 10 reviews Excellent
Breathtaking scenery and food was good.
The service we received was appalling. The staff carried on as if they are doing you a favour. The reception lady seemed to think we were 1st time travelers who among other things seemed to think we didn’t even know how the room key worked. The service at the bar was much to be desired, we may as well have served ourselves. The service did not meet the Lodges 5 star status!!!
Fire place in rooms
Wedding the same weekend when we stayed, it was bit noisy
The majestic setting. Friendly staff. large rooms the function we attended was very god .
it was a cold weekend and a very cold room. Very mean with allocation of gas heater, specially between 7am and 9am. Contrary to what they say in room info. Difficult to turn heater on.
Indoor fireplace was nice Outdoor Shower was refreshing
Breakfast was not up to standard Mediocre facilities Not 5-star quality
The staff really tried to accommodate to the best of there ability. It's peaceful and quiet The spa facilities are quite nice.
I booked a weekend away for my husbands birthday. I let them know we were coming from Botswana and booked our spa treatments accordingly. The border was a bit busy but I kept in contact and let them know we were running a bit behind, when we arrived I asked reception to please phone the spa and let them know we were checking in (about 5 min late) and to ask them to give us 5-10 min just to put our bags in the room and come down, we were told NO and that we had to come immediately! For a 5 star accommodation, the grounds were quite dirty, our outside shower was full of leaves which hadn't been cleaned even though they knew we were checking in. They must of had a function on the friday because there were still rubbish and cutlery laying on the floor and this was at 4:30pm, really the whole day just to clean something up? On our way to the room there was dirty ear-buds and papers laying on the walkway, needless to say this was still there 2 days later when we checked out. Our fridge wasn't working and nor did the hot-water tap on the bath work, we phoned to get it fixed and to stock it for us but this was not done. We had to phone again the following day and then they fixed the fridge but didn't stock it! Again we had to phone and ask, The bath was still not fixed by the time we checked out. In the information book in your room they tell you there is a range of Dvd's you can rent, but this is at R200 per dvd deposit and it is only for kids. They also tell you that they have a range of board games you can get from reception but when you ask they tell you that there are pieces missing from all the games and that it's a waste of time, surely with a 5 star you should replace broken or lost games? Should these not be checked when returned from guests and a fee added to the account for misuse?
Location - close to JHB Responsiveness of staff Food
Room was old and aircon & gas fireplace were not functioning - we complained and were then upgraded to a family room, which was much better - good response by the staff but totally unnecessary as it wasted our time and took away from the special occasion - if maintenance of the room was up to scratch.
The Location was great Reception staff and Restaurant staff was great, great service.
Unfortunately the rooms were not clean and linen was not of good quality [old] SPA: Staff not friendly Very noisy in spa Equipment not working properly Message was of poor quality - Lights not dimmed during sap treatment, no music during spa treatment
The staff are super professional and accommodating. Thank you to Tumi at Reservation Desk and Siyabonga at reception. Such gems, professional. The food was great. This was the 3rd time there. We just love the place. We hiked with the kids this time around. Divine! Supreme relaxation. The family room was perfectly set up and the location, just perfect.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Accommodation excellent. Food was of a very high standard. Hotel and restaurant staff went out of their way to accommodate the needs of our 3 year old daughter.
Very friendly staff who are keen to help. Excellent food. Rooms were amazing. Scenery fantastic. Hiking trails really good. Quiet. Good options for recreation - fishing, hot air balloon etc.
Aircon was not working but fireplace made up for it.
the breakfast was great gas fire in room
we were moved to another room after complaining of a loud sound in the room(was not able to sleep)think it was the geyser
The views and the wild animals right there.
Staff were friendly and amenities and location is great
The food, especially the buffet at dinner time was sub par and the fact that they dont advertise room service is also not great for a five star resort
The area and the gardens of the hotel.
We came back from a wedding in the area at midnight. It was very cold when we arrived at the room, only to discover that the airconditioner was not working. To add to our discomfort the bath water was only luke warm and the water pressure so bad that it took ages to run the bath (by which time the water was really cold). I just think that the room that was given to us did not justify the money we paid for the night.
Not being informed when we checked in that there was going to be a wedding on the Saturday, a road race on the sunday morning and a wedding on the sunday night. It did not affect us too much but we planned a quiet tranquil weekend, but had to listen to "thump thump" music from the weddings and a PA system directed straight at our windows from 08h00 on the sunday through until 11h00 for the road race. Just inform your guests rather.
Hope Kloofzicht will introduce roomservice, want to enjoy tranquility from perfectly situated rooms.
Room was excellent as was the spa treatment.
It cant take four phone calls to organise some sparkling wine! Vey dissapointed that on the Saturday night we were only offered a buffet dinner. We felt ripped off paying R500 for average food when we expected the excellent a la carte menu that is usually available.
We liked the cabin, nature and beautiful views. Breakfast was excellent. There is a wide range of outdoor activities at reasonable prices. Really enjoyed waking up to a massive Kudu bull and a heard of Springbuck walking past our room.
The dinner was very average and not well priced. The reception building is well kept but old. The bar area had a foul smell. Our gas fireplace was out of order in our room.
The location is superb
Over staff and under managed. Unable to provide a sandwich for lunch, could not check us in on time, room dirty
Dinner buffet, the chicken stir-fry was definitely "off" We asked the chef to have a look at the chicken. They did not charge us for the buffet.
The facilities were great and the staff extremely accommodating. We felt at home
We had difficulty finding the place as the directions are not great.
All of the trip
The staff were amazing. Seleen Reddy, Siyabonga, Anna from House keeping and Johan from the Restaurant made my husband's birthday extra special. We loved the peaceful, tranquil setting and the amazing bird life. The wonder caves nearby were a well hidden
Mosquitoes :( but that was due to the climate.
not much, good location, good breakfast.
the buffet was terrible and amateurish, definitely not five star. The meat was unseasoned, tough and inedible. At R 230 per head for this buffet, definitely not worth it. rather stay at Budmarsh. The water out of the taps is mud brown, looks like from the dam or rusted pipes. a wedding party went on until 12 pm at night, the thought of a restful night was out of the question.
