This was the first time in my life that any establishment of this type
(B&B) this ever has refused to provide breakfast, even though
breakfast was available to other (select / privileged) guests.
Certainly, we were in a self catering unit, but we were only staying for
the night, and I think it is pretty unreasonable to expect overnighters
to come prepared with all the groceries to make breakfast the next
morning. To simply refuse them breakfast service is unbelievable! We
understood that it would be at extra cost, and would have been very
happy with that, but instead, just a flat no! We were quite taken aback.
Not my idea of hospitality at all! When we left, only two people were
being served breakfast, and I honestly cannot understand why it would
have been so difficult to serve the four of us too, especially since we
had asked for breakfast the night before. Instead we were shown away to
some other establishment in town that turned out to be closed too (at
9am)! Montagu is a small country town where not much opens on a Sunday,
so if your hosts show you away, you are going hungry - simple as that!
So off we went all the way to Cape Town on empty stomachs. Small town
hospitality has a different meaning at the Koo Karoo!
Clean, pleasant accommodation at a very reasonable price.
