The wind. The walkways were often wet due to irrigation.
Location, views, beauty of surroundings, attitude of staff, breakfasts!
beautiful location small and classy good breakfast close to town
The friendly staff, lovely gardens and patio where one could have breakfast. Very nice swimming pool, and the rooms were very clean.
Our unit had another unit above and the insulation was not good as we could hear the guests walking about. There was no Dstv in the room, only in the lounge where there was a small tv
the welcome, (Kim especially), the friendliness, absolutely nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast was probably the best we have had anywhere in the world, fabulous choice, superb quality. the room was lovely, staff were extremely knowledgeable about the restauraunts/amenities in the area. complimentary wine tasting, and a bottle of free wine in our room, were an unexpected but lovely touch. the wines were superb! the closeness to the town centre, and the fact that they booked us a lovely taxi company to take us to the wine farms was lovely too. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Oh, and the personal greetings from all the staff on the morning of my birthday!
we couldn't really fault alot, but if we have to be really critical, some of the gym equipment was broken and out-dated, the spa is really non-existent and not luxurious at all, (don't think this can be advertised as a spa hotel), the tv in the room was very basic, with no DSTV and poor picture quality. the DVD player in our room didn't work. I would expect a 5 star hotel to at least have DSTV in the rooms. there was DSTV in the lounge, but a very small outdated TV. a bit of an upgrade there would be good.
Karen , the person in charge, was helpful, practical ad cared . The coffee was excellent and the garden an oasis in which to relax.
Excellent location for town and surrounding areas. Karin, the hostess looked after us & her recommendation of the restaurants were spot on. I would go again to spend a few days.
The welcome by Karen and Kim, the lovely and comfortable room, a great breakfast with freshly baked croissants. The assistance with restaurant recommendations and bookings including the shuttle service to and from the restaurants. Well done, we would love to visit again.
the positive attitude of the staff - otherwise we echo Elizabeth view on the establishment
It's not much more than 5 mins drive from Franschhoek, through a stunningly beautiful landscape. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was fantastic. The water in the bathroom was piping hot. The pillows were very good. The underfloor heating was brilliant (the nights were definitely chilly!).
Lovely small estate environment close to Franschoek, Ultra friendly staff and very comfortable accommodation.
Only problem was sound proofing in the rooms in the main building was inadequate. Downstairs heard every footstep from upstairs. Upstairs heard conversations from downstairs.
Faultless . Beautiful setting with amazing accommodation . Karen and Maruska could not do enough for us . Always friendly and happy to advise on restaurants ,activities etc . Full English varied breakfast beautifully presented .
Fantastic service, great help finding nice places to go to visit and eat and taste wine. An all around great time and fantastic stay.
A home from home. Super place with great gardens for our dog and exceptionally helpful and friendly staff. Great location for all the vineyards and restaurants on offer in Franschhoek. Very large rooms.
This is a superb location for visiting the area. The staff were very welcoming and exceptionally helpful, nothing was problem. They arranged a taxi for us to a local restaurant as we arrived late in the evening. Our room was spacious and very clean, over looking the pool. Breakfast was lovely on the terrace with stunning scenery. There was an excellent choice of English or continental breakfast. Karin and the team made our stay very special, we hope to re-visit. Highly recommend as a tranquil place to stay. Would have liked Wi-Fi in our room but it is available in the main house.
A beautiful estate in the middle of the winelands. Very comfy and very friendly and helpful staff.
Location is great and the rooms look beautiful
When we arrived the room had been freshly painted so was uninhabitable. They did not have any other rooms available so they booked us into a different hotel down the way. They even told us that they would pay for the new hotel and refund us our payment for their hotel. But now they are going back on their offer and have yet to refund a single cent from our stay over 2 weeks ago. Extremely poor customer service.
Friendly staff especially Megan. Lovely room.
Internet not available in all rooms.
The efficient and friendly staff, the manageress was able to give us information about the best vineyards to visit. She booked restaurants for evening meals and arranged transport? The breakfast choice was excellent and plentiful.
Nothing to dislike.
Karin is a stunning host. Went over and above to help me. The setting is lovely. Comfy bed. Lovely pool garden setting. Lovely little touches. Great staff.
Not much. But if I had to pick - weak water pressure made showers interesting. Spa staff could be better (not f/t employed by venue). Mix and match furniture hit and miss! Ants on the breakfast bar. But. All in all, lovely spot, lovely people.
Great breakfasts and excellent suite accomodation also dinner arrangements with pick up from hotel by local restaurants.
A little outside town
The peaceful setting
The beautiful grounds and views. The care taken to book us another room for our friends and to organise a Dinner reservation at an outside restaurant, given there were no dining facilities in-house. All this in Peak Season, too.
Squeaky boards in the ceiling made rooms above noisy. Shortage of staff at Reception at times. Difficult getting phone calls returned when booking. Massage was less than 5 star, and may have been done by a fairly inexperienced, untrained person, we would guess..?
