We had a perfect stay at Lekkerwijn. Great hospitality, excellent breakfast. The manager was very nice as well. He was of great help to us; eg made diner reservasions, advised us nice places to visit. great!!
It is a great manor house very well kept. We only stayed there one night and would have loved to stay there longer. Very interesting place.
Loved our welcome, rooms were comfortable, one in home and one out on property. The views were stunning, loved the animals on the property. Breakfast was wonderful. Geoff the manager is just great and really helpful. Arranged a sumptuous picnic basket for my son to surprise his girlfriend with a marriage proposal.
The sense of history you share by staying in this manor house is fantastic and nothing like anything we have experienced before, it was just fabulous. We were looked after with just excellent care and consideration, and would not hesitate one moment to return.
The host was amazingly friendly and helpful, offering very good advice about every single activity/restaurant/sight-seeing available in the area and beyond, for our next stop in the country. Thanks to him we discovered places that we would never have thought of and could escape from the regular tourist tour. The house itself has a soul that our guest embodied with all his explanations and even a video to explain the story of his family and the place we lived in. All the furniture and decoration reminded us of the cape dutch style and history and had their own special story that he was able to tell us about. The garden and patio were also lovely, with birds and very nice colours. Breakfast was plentiful, very good and the historic setting gave it another dimension.
The wifi could not be used (but who cares about modern technology in such a beautiful historic house?)
We liked the rural feel and the informal, friendly atmosphere.
There was nothing that we didn't like. The venue offered good value for money.
We were in Stellenbosch for a wedding. The guest house offers a shuttle service which came in very handy and perfectly on time! We never had breakfast but the rooms are large and spacious!
An old country house in a lovely setting right next door to Allee Bleue wine estate. Geoff was an excellent host and helped with all your dinner or visit arrangements. He has a great connection at the Bistro next door at the wine estate where the food is of excellent quality. Breakfast is an informal affair sat with your fellow guests but is plentiful and freshly cooked to order. The house was cool and the lack of air conditioning was no issue even with 30degree plus temp outside. Well worth a few days of your time and close to a number of other excellent wine estates. Geoff can provide a car with driver to get you to and from Franschoek for dinner as well if you require for a reasonable charge.
The staff are exceptionally welcoming and the farm house is fabulous. We stayed in the cottage which was very spacious. We braaied for dinner with a weber braai supplied by the owner.
It would be hard to find a more delightful place to stay. We were treated like old friends and invited to enjoy this most interesting old house just as if we were at home.
Staff very friendly and as i was gooing out to a party suitabe arrangements were made for me to return later that Evening. The room was very nice and comfortable
Room was a bit hot as it was in Summer needs a suitable fan. A bottel of mineral water would also have been nice.
Lekkerwijn is an absolute gem; a beautiful and historic house in a gorgeous rural setting with wonderful plants and both domestic and wild animals in abundance. And the humans who own and look after Lekkerwijn are a very kind, professional and interesting group. Lekkerwijn cannot be recommended highly enough!
Nothing! (except for having to leave Lekkerwijn to come home....!)
The manager was very friendly when we arrived.
The cottage was very dark (the staff member did not know where to turn on the lights) and next to a stable with horses. Felt a bit unsafe with window without burglar bars next to my bed, so kept it closed during the night. Did not smell good and lots of mosquito's. It looked like a well kept establishment on Booking.com, but looks neglected in reality. We left a day earlier than planned and notified the manager via a text message early the following day. It would have been nice to receive a reply from him, as we did pay for the full period, but it might be too much to expect. Unfortunately not a pleasant experience.
