Lekkerwijn Historic Country House  

Such a warm and friendly people, Simon is a excellent host, who also learned us a lot about the South African culture and history. We got many usefull tips for dinner and excursions. We felt really 'at home'.

There isn't really one a can remember.

Horrendous experience. Our booking was for a 2 bedroomed private suite with ensuite bathroom. It turned out to be two poky bedrooms with a tiny shower room across the corridor which had ants! The coverlet on the bed was dusty. The "suite" was a continuation of the bedroom corridor with a door (unlocked with no key) to access it. Any guest had access to the guest kitchen through it. The bedroom doors had no keys or locks of any kind. No air con, fan, fridge in the bedroom. The place smelled musty. Breakfast was adequate - some fruit, a bowl of flavoured yogurt and bread to toast; then a cooked breakfast.

Everything. We paid less for much better accommodation elsewhere. It was not clean nor was it as described on booking. And we felt we had to stay the 2 nights as they had taken the complete amount from our credit card before we travelled!

It is an authentic historic farmhouse including furniture etc. However the bathroom was newly restored and had was very comfortable and convenient. (I stayed in the Nursery room). Breakfast would satisfy everyone, they offered cooked breakfast too. Very friendly owner and took time to advise me about the neighbourhood. Quiet place. There is a swimming pool (I did not use). I imagine this would be great place to sit and read a book.

I did not see any heating system in the room apart from the fireplace - I did not need heating. So in the winter the rooms might be cold. There is a main road (to Franschhoek) about 300 mt away. In the weekend you might hear the motorbikers wizzing through. Looking forward to staying again.

We liked the history of the Dutch Cape style house and its beautiful antique furnishings, the house standing in acres of its own grounds. The host spent lots of time telling us about the history of the house and showed us the video he collated about the house and his family who lived there. He also directed us to worthwhile places to visit in the area and it would be hard to find them otherwise. Warm and friendly surrounding and a wonderful host!

Gastfreundschaft Anbiente Historisches Haus

Das Ambiente in einem alten Herrenhaus mit langer Geschichte hat sicherlich seinen Reiz. Der große Garten am Haus mit altem Baumbestand und kleinem Pool lädt zum Verweilen ein. Die Besitzer und Verwalter waren sehr freundlich. Nach Reklamation der bewohnten Räume war man um Entschädigung bemüht. (Das ändert allerdings nichts daran, dass unser "Cottage" so nicht angeboten werden sollte.)

Die Lage ist nur für Selbstversorger geeignet. Mahlzeiten müssen sonst im Voraus gebucht werden. Zwar befindet sich ein Weingut nebenan, dass Restaurant dazu schließt aber um 17.00 Uhr. Die nächsten Restaurants befinden sich in 10 km, Franchhoek mit seinen Restaurants ist 18 km weit entfernt. Das Cottage, welches wir in einem Anbau, direkt neben dem Pferdestall bewohnten, kann man nicht empfehlen. Die Räume sind zwar von der Fläche großzügig bemessen, riechen im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes aber "muffig" und die Sauberkeit lies zu wünschen übrig. (Staub im Geschirr und Dreck auf der Couch.) Offensichtlich sind die anderen Mieteinheiten im Haupthaus und angerenzenden Cottages aber besser.

Tolles Ambiente in traditionsreichem,ehemaligem Weingut mit kleinem Tierhof.Besitzer sehr aufgeschlossen und Gastfreundlich.Tolle Lage zum Start für eine Tour über die nahegelegenen Weingüter (Boschendal).

Sehr angenehmes Ambiente, angenehmes und zuvorkommendes Personal, hilfsbereiter Gastgeber. Sehr gut zwischen Franschhoek, Stellenbosch und Paarl gelegen.

kein Wi-fi, ohne Auto nicht erreichbar.

Leve o termo historic house ao pé da letra: é um grande casarão extremamente antigo. Pode ser algo positivo ou negativo, vai depender do que a pessoa está buscando

La casa esta excelentemente conservada, es muy confortable, ubicada a mitad de camino entre Stelenbosch y Franschoek, perfecta para visitar las bodegas de la zona. Los dueños, Simon y Ross nos atendieron como amigos y nos orientaron para aprovechar el tiempo que teníamos, se nota que les gusta recibir gente. Los desayunos de Susan imperdibles!!! Totalmente recomendable!!!

Prachtig oud huis in originele Cape - Dutch stijl; geweldig ontbijt; vriendelijke eigenaar die graag het historische gebouw laat zien; behulpzaam met reserveringen voor restaurants, etc.

WIFI network does not meet the standard. Cold at night insufficient heating (we stayed there end of July).

Well maintained historic guest house, with modern mod-con. Owner Simon and manager Franscois were very friendly and welcoming. Staff were helpful. Beautiful setting and surrounding.
