The location and ambiance of the place was far better than expected. To answer a question with a question, what is to be unliked in such a beautiful setting with such friendly and helpful staff?
My third visit. I cannot fault the place and really enjoy my stays here
The perfect spot to stay over on the drive from Johannesburg to Cape Town, just 5km off the highway. Perfectly comfortable in an historic building. Great welcome and service from George. We are only sorry we did not stay two nights.
The dust access road.
Friendly hosts and staff. Excellent food.
the view from the mountains
The shower head was small but that kept us from wasting too much water!
The location is ideal for a stop-over between Johannesburg and Cape Town. The friendliness of all the staff, management and even the pets made us feel at home. The food was good at Dinner and breakfast.
The food (dinner) is of very average quality, especially considering the charge for dinner. Breakfast is also not too good but acceptable for one night. The place is charming but old and it shows in the amount of wear & tear. The manageress tries very hard but the bar staff is not too keen to add service or go the extra mile. Wifi is weak.
Old historic lodge located at vantage point allowing you to look over the great Karoo. Excellent position - nice old lodge with many original details.
the resident parrot (rather large) joined us at the dinner table and tried to steal my bracelet
coming across giraffes on our eco drive
Peace in an old world atmosphere. Location just off N1. Dining and outlook over Karoo...
Beds extremely comfortable, food delicious and staff exemplary
very nice guesthouse. to be recommended. the outside location for the evening dinner is gorgeous.
We thought the dinner was very expensive
Liked the setting and that we could bring our dog
Peaceful setting An oasis in the Karoo Attentive, helpful staff Well-appointed , comfortable room
Wonderfully quiet and refreshing - best overnight stop ever
Good stop over. Excellent food and very friendly staff.
The service was beyond belief. I noticed the special attention given to all guests. The fact that they have an honesty bar speaks volumes of the values of the owners. It's home away from home
No issues at all.
Everything was excellent, staff friendly, food very well cooked and if you have to stop off in Beaufort West en-route between the Cape & Joburg/Durban, this is the place! Will definitely return
Towels not soft and fluffy, they felt stiff and hard to the skin There was water in the bathroom after a bath, either from under the bath-tub or from the shower!!!
The view and lovely garden, friendly staff and good, fresh and tasty food Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable, working ,effective air conditioning, creamy good quality body lotion, and shower gel!!!
Ideal stopover for the long road between Pta and Cape Town. It was a perfect start of our holiday, the peacefullness and professional personel. Not just a stop over but a place you should experience, spoil yourself and visit Lemoenfontein!
I think for the price of the room the breakfast should be included.
Very friendly staff, peacefull surroundings.
We had a little bit of trouble with the wi-fi. Otherwise nothing.
The situation was calm and beautiful, in the Karoo, on a very large estate. It took 40 minutes to walk to the entrance gate. The lodge was very comfortable with a certain old fashioned feel (stepping back in time). The staff were unusally friendly and helpful. The morning game drive was unforgetable and the game warden had a great sense of humour! The food was excellent and served on a huge wooden veranda (old dance floor) overlooking the surroundings for as far as the eye could see. Sunsets were beautiful. Overall quite remarkable.
Wifi connection could have been better but then again...there are more important things.
The friendly and helpfull owners and staff, amazing views, the nearby presence of wildlife, the lovely terrace overlooking the land, the dogs that followed me on my walk, the silence of the place.
Since first visiting in 2002 the lodge has become our stopping off point on each trip north or south. Standards have never varied. Staff have always been welcoming and after a day on the road, the honesty bar and the stoep are the best things in town!
Food dissapointed a little, fatty lamb, e.g. is not everybody's choice Front garden overlooking the expanse can do with a face lift.
Everything about the accomodation.
