We liked the atmosphere of Lions Rock plus being able to learn the reasons why there is a Lions Rock. We felt that the cook needs cookery lessons!

Excellent work being done to rescue cats. Long wait for dinner to be served. I feel the many options on the menu and only one chef caused delays. Maybe be an idea to offer fewer choices.

Fantastic guide showed us the lion facilities. Lovely facilities for lions. Very well designed. Animals in very good condition. It is obvious that there is a real passion for the animals. Not family friendly. No proper oven so very hard to cater for young family. There is plenty of space for an oven, so very frustrating. Lounge suite very uncomfortable. Patio design quite dangerous - missing tiles & a bit high - not child friendly. Breakfasts at lodge were awful. Left lodge one day early because we were so frustrated & uncomfortable. Won't stay there again or recommend to stay. Pity as could be really nice if these few little things were addressed.

Personal very findly. Very good location in the pure nature. Accommodation good. Price – efficiency ratio in general good. Dinner sometimes bad (Meal not well prepared). 14 km off road way is very unpleasant for normal cars.

We arrived at Lion's Rock not knowing what to expect as the internet was our only reference. We were met by very friendly and accommodating staff and throughout our stay they could not do enough to make us feel welcome and satisfied. The rooms were comfortable and very clean and with great views. We learned about the Four Paws organisation on the game drive and were in total awe at the immensity of this extraordinary project to save and rehabilitate traumatised, wild life. Lion, white lion, bengal tiger, cheeta, wild dogs and numerous species of buck. The country side was pure and totally unspoilt, absolutely awesome, incredibly beautiful, with amazing sunsets as the day draws to a close We would strongly recommend a visit and will definitely revisit this incredible part of South Africa, doing all in our power to promote and support this worthy cause. Vernon and Arlette Curtis There was absolutely nothing not to like

Close encounters with the lions. Facilites are poorly maintained. They allow to many day visitors on the lodge facilities which created a lot of noise and prevents guest staying in the lodge from enjoying it.

Lions Rock, and Four Paws, is a commendable institution taking care of rescued bigcats. Their work is wonderful and there should be more places who do the same. The 14 km gravel road is a nightmare and effectively means one is trapped at Lions Rock, because frequent trips out are painful and take at least 40 minutes, at 20km per hour in an ordinary car. There are limited activities so I don't recommend anything more than 2 nights there. Walking or driving around is not allowed, even though this is not made clear anywhere, except if one actually tries to go and walk and is then severely reprimanded by the staff with an attitude of "just because it doesn't say it isn't allowed, doesn't mean it is allowed". There are game drives to see the cats behind fences. Considering the variety of game parks where one can see lions and cheetahs in their natural environment in South Africa, Lions Rock is not the ideal place of game drives. That is why anything more than two days will result in mind numbing boredom. The Internet and tv didn't work while we were there.

The experience of being up colse with the animals. There was no communication about gate closure time. There was no notice at the main gate about what to do if the main gate was closed. There was no notice that you couldn't go on your own gane drive. According to the staff when I asked, there are no barbeque facilities as stated on booking.com. They wanted to charge us more then the price quoted on booking.com.

The Lion Sanctuary does awesome work!! Need to tell people that road there is REALLY ONLY appropiate for 4x4.. 14km of very rocky gravel road would destroy a normal vehicle's suspension and tires and take forever to drive Really not advisable.

Ontbijt. diner is heerlijk. Fantastisch! Vanaf Bethlehem is de toegangsweg hobbelig en niet geasfalteerd.
