The setting. Very up close encounters with all the animals
The gravel roads are very poor
I had a motorbike incident about 20 minutes before arriving at Lionsrock and the staff bent over backwards to look after me when I arrived. They were extremely hospitable, friendly and couldn't do enough to help with everything. Originally I was going to a nearby hostel but left it too late to book and booked at Lionsrock instead. This is one mistake that I was so glad to make as the place is absolutely amazing and what you get for the price you pay is nothing but spectacular. The view from the room is beautiful, the pool is warm with great views too, the tour of the animals is very informative and you get to see them up so close. I was upgraded to a luxury room so I could clean myself up better and this room was beautiful, I booked for 2 extra nights and moved into one of the more basic rooms but this was still a lovely room with great views and kept lovely and clean too
The road to the entrance is a dirt road. I had great fun riding this on the trail bike I had but some visitors may not like to take their cars on this road
Nice staff, Excellent food, beautiful view
After having left the main road and gone on the long dirt track to the lodge and park one can only be amazed by the sight of the facilities and the view over the fields where wild animals are pampered during the final part of their lives
The long and poor access road
Friendly staff Game and big cats drive Nature scenery Lovely breakfast
Seeing a leopard and tigers up close, the food, the room. They owners have done great work to rescue the animals.
'Game drive' is misleading - it's a short drive to look at animals in cages. The gravel road was a long headache.
The food, friendliness of the staff the Game drive was awesome.
The double bed in Chalet number 3
We visited Lions Rock last weekend and had a lovely weekend, spoiled by the pouring rain on Sunday. The Lodge is very comfortable, our room had everything we could have wanted, staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I would recommend this lodge.
The only thing I didn't enjoy was the rough road to get there, although the condition of the road is pretty good. I did suggest that lighting was needed over the mirrors.
The friendly management and staff. A unique experience visiting a game farm and sanctuary at the same timeq
People who are passionate about animals! Their compassion for animals, humans and preserving our planet touches your soul! Will defanetly go back!
The early morning construction! Almost Completed!
Excellent service, friendly staff, great room, beautiful views, walking trail. Passionate people that form part of a great cause to care for mistreated or neglected big cats. We will definitely return to this lodge.
The dirt road from the Bethlehem turnoff to the lodge
Lovely aspect of Lionsrock Lodge overlooking the valley below. African style of our chalets and outdoor braai on the patio outside. Lions roar could be heard at night. Tasty breakfasts each morning in the restaurant. Excellent work the staff and volunteers are doing at this big cat sanctuary as experienced on our game drive. Easy drive to Clarens and Golden Gate National Park for exploring the area.
Problems with the water supply to our chalet on first 2 days of our stay necessitating a change of chalet after unpacking but resolved on the second day. WiFi connection was weak and only available at the main reception which closed early in the evening.
When you realise that just by being there you are helping these majestic beasts. Its an amazing feeling. my 2 small kids loved the friendly atmosphere and the animals.
Food needs to be worked on. Although its important to have good food, everything else more than makes up for it.
Accomodating and informed staff. Inspiring mission. Large menu for dinner. Great Value for money. Amazing to hear the lions roaring as you fall asleep.
The perfect place to simply unwind and re-charge your battery without any electronics! Long slow walks, sundowners on the deck and lovely sights for the artist to capture not to mention the breathtaking sun sets and lion roars. Quad bikes and swimming pools ensure there's something to do for eveybody. The staff and service was exceptional making our stay pleasant and comfortbale. The passion and dedication to provide a safe, peaceful and dignified resting place for the big cats were evdient and touched our hearts deeply. The game drive was not only informative but filled with background information on the cats and where they came from making us realise that they are truly now in paradise.
The dirt road was challenging but it was worth it!
The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. The food in the restaurant was outstanding and the chalet we stayed in thoroughly cleaned every morning.
The road to the lodge is not in a good condition, with a gravel road of about 12 km. It will be great if more hiking trails can be established, with only one presently available, while movement on the farm restricted by guided game drives only.
We loved minute of our stay at Lionsrock. Accomadation, food, beautiful views & especially the big cats. We will definately book again. Thank you Lionsrock for a fantastic experience.
the location, the views, the friendly staff, the work they do there
The accommodation was really great and the staff very friendly and helpful. Waking up and going to sleep with the roar of lions and the laugh of the hyena. What more could one ask for. For peace and tranquillity, this is the place to go to.
We could not really find fault. The only one worth mentioning is that the rooms need a bit of maintenance done. They are still great and clean, but attention is needed.
Very nice venue, a difference is that it is focused on a charitable cause and not totally commercial. It is very good value, and for a 2 night stay, relaxed and laid back. The food is good and well prepared, and the staff really go out of their way to help. The "game drive" is informative, and does touch a nerve with the cruelty to animals that is still prevalent!
Stupid parents that take their spoilt bratish offspring on the game drives and have no idea of how to control their loud obnoxious offspring! I should of got off when they climbed on and waited for the next slot.
The views of the mountains and countryside. Proximity to wildlife.
Did not have the fridge in the room as advertised. Windows need updating.
The lodge as a hole my new friend jessy the dog all the cat's and wild life. sun set and sun rise the hold Experian's of the good thing lionsrock is doing for the cats. and other wildlife
leaving the lodge.
The setting of Lions Rock is very special. The roar of lions in the night is amazing and the staff are all very friendly.
There is no assistance with luggage if your room is far from the parking area. During my stay there were also quite a few things on the menu that were not available. The staff were very apologetic though.
