The lions roaring as we were falling asleep was magical. A wonderful place to stay and a great cause.
Everything was done to make our stay interesting and comfortable
Nol airconditioners in the bedrooms, it was very hot.
the friendly always always helpful staff, the great work they're doing in the sanctuary.
There was nothing not to like.
The food was excellent and the game drive was very informative and the ranger was well informed. We were impressed with the work that is being done there with animals
If the road good be tarred it would be an advantage. according to info on the web a hairdryer is available in the room but there was none in the room. Fortunately my wife took her's along. Shade nets would also be an advantage
Lionsrock is a sanctuary, an oasis for abused and mistreated cats from around the globe. the people clearly have a passion for what they do, and the big cats are such an experience to see up-close on a viewing drive. i am in awe of how wonderful this organization is!
Don't expect fancy frills, the rooms are clean, well(ish) maintained and the limited DSTV channels will force you out of your room to enjoy the nature! The rooms all feature ample heating, but on hot days you don't want to be in there - all in all it's a great value for money stay, and knowing that you are supporting the Four Paws and Lionsrock initiative is well worth any of the minor inconveniences
Clean room, good bed, very friendly staff. Magnificent view. Game drive on own property tot abused lions and tigers was impressive. Good WIFI network.
Such a great setting ,that accompanied by good quality food ,great staff doing great things not just for the guests ,but also for the sanctuary of the big cats
Some day visitors playing load music from their cars ,but it didnt last and it was new years day
The gardens needed a good clean. The double bed in unit 1 needs a new mattress.
The game drives were amazing, enjoyed time with the cats.
Checking in was a nightmare. Got to the place at 5pm (26th Dec) and had confirmed my booking in Sept. They made us sit for an hour while a room is being prepared, then upgraded us to a better room--10minutes into this room we were told that they made a mistate and we need to move to another room. We were travelling with a 6 months baby and two small kids. This was quite frustrating.
1.Nothing was too much trouble, from comfort, food ect. 2. Four Paws was very educational and an eye opener to all that went on the game drive, the game driver had so much passion for his work. 3. Ethical, kind and understanding owners. 4. A must to visit, peaceful. 5. Thank you to all that made our stay so comfortable.
1. Not enough pressure in the shower for a good flow of water.
Listening to the roaring of lions
I ordered room service, didn't like the food at all as it was not properly prepared.
Lions Rock Lodge is a natures valley as well as as a sanctuary at the same time. Although the rescued animals are still in captivity as they cannot be released into the wild again, Lions Rock Sanctuary is providing a save haven to all the animals. The animals are all very well cared for in every way. The Lodge is very well managed with friendly staff and the restaurant serves delicious food. Value for Money!
The cold water in the swimming pool!
Everything. Lionsrock is absolutely fantastic and I will always remember our four night stay here. We were a group of 11 with 4 children, parents and grandparents and every one of us had a great time. The best parts of our stay were the views, the purpose of Lionsrock to rescue lions, the hikes, game drives and swimming pool. Self-catering + breakfast included is a great combination. The staff are so friendly and lovely, we felt sad to leave.
Nothing at all. Highly recommended
This is my 3rd time here, and I gave the venue a good rating the last time. As usual, some staff members stand out with their service and friendliness, its a beautiful place, and not to far from out, but...........................
I dislike reviews that berates venues for minor little issues for the sake of moaning but, sadly, I'm not coming back to this venue!. I come here for the view and the isolation. Unfortuanately, the venue doesnt seem to know what type of clientele it wants to have. When a venue is booked for a wedding, as well as a corporate function, let other guests know in advance, or close off bookings. If I had known in advance about this, there would be no way that I would of booked. To have wedding guests standing on your verandah shouting and laughing all afternoon and evening is certainly not enjoyable. Added to this ,I have had the use of the same room (No8) on 2 of the occasions, and the shower runs lightly all night!!! I brought it to the front desks attention again, 3 months later, still the same. A poor coffee station that was not refilled, no towels except for a hand towel!! So with all the noise from the functions and a constant dripping sound through the night, I have to make the decision that its time to find another place in a very beautiful part of the country!
Accomodation was not luxury, but good and clean.
Lions in cages.
There are too many good things to list so here are just a few: the lodge itself is traditional and beautiful and run by a team of most friendly, welcoming and professional people you will ever come across. It has a beautiful restaurant, lovely fully stocked bar, plenty of seating area, a stunning clean swimming pool and of course scenery to die for with an abundance of wildlife. Not only do you get to experience seeing the big cats, buck and other wildlife, but you are contributing to a most worthy and admirable cause, supporting the rehabilitation of our most precious wildlife. A must for anyone wanting a true African experience, you will not be disappointed. The game drive was fantastic, Alvin our guide was extremely knowledgeable and a really nice fella. Our room (no 22 and 23) was clean, spacious and most comfortable, our bed was the most comfortable I have slept in in a long while and is on 5 star level. The pillows were amazing! I will return again, even if it is just to come back to Lions Rock for a night. The work they do is over and beyond and if it wasn't for people and places like this we wouldn't have the beautiful wild animals we see in books anymore. Highly recommended!
The setting. Very up close encounters with all the animals
The gravel roads are very poor
I had a motorbike incident about 20 minutes before arriving at Lionsrock and the staff bent over backwards to look after me when I arrived. They were extremely hospitable, friendly and couldn't do enough to help with everything. Originally I was going to a nearby hostel but left it too late to book and booked at Lionsrock instead. This is one mistake that I was so glad to make as the place is absolutely amazing and what you get for the price you pay is nothing but spectacular. The view from the room is beautiful, the pool is warm with great views too, the tour of the animals is very informative and you get to see them up so close. I was upgraded to a luxury room so I could clean myself up better and this room was beautiful, I booked for 2 extra nights and moved into one of the more basic rooms but this was still a lovely room with great views and kept lovely and clean too
The road to the entrance is a dirt road. I had great fun riding this on the trail bike I had but some visitors may not like to take their cars on this road
Nice staff, Excellent food, beautiful view
After having left the main road and gone on the long dirt track to the lodge and park one can only be amazed by the sight of the facilities and the view over the fields where wild animals are pampered during the final part of their lives
The long and poor access road
Friendly staff Game and big cats drive Nature scenery Lovely breakfast
Seeing a leopard and tigers up close, the food, the room. They owners have done great work to rescue the animals.
'Game drive' is misleading - it's a short drive to look at animals in cages. The gravel road was a long headache.
The food, friendliness of the staff the Game drive was awesome.
The double bed in Chalet number 3
We visited Lions Rock last weekend and had a lovely weekend, spoiled by the pouring rain on Sunday. The Lodge is very comfortable, our room had everything we could have wanted, staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I would recommend this lodge.
The only thing I didn't enjoy was the rough road to get there, although the condition of the road is pretty good. I did suggest that lighting was needed over the mirrors.
