The setting of Lions Rock is very special. The roar of lions in the night is amazing and the staff are all very friendly.

There is no assistance with luggage if your room is far from the parking area. During my stay there were also quite a few things on the menu that were not available. The staff were very apologetic though.

Game drive where you see the different big cats was great - the guide was knowledgeable and gave you time to see the cats and take pictures etc. Restaurant food was great too.

Not much to do there besides the game drive. The hiking trail was badly signposted. I think you'd only need one night there and you would have done everything there is to do.

Food was delicious was very restful and insightful experience. Staff was very friendly. Nice place to break away from the hustle of city life. The bathroom mirror had a light above it which were nice to see clearly.

The TV were a bit low and far from the bed. Would've been nice it were on that arms to be able to turn it. And the fridge and kettle couldn't be plugged in at the same time as the plugs were too big.

The whole experience & the good cause of the lodge. Amazing views.

Once we came off the main tarred road, one had to travel on a very rough rocky dust road for about 22km. Not suitable for a car, but is accessible.

The food was scrumptious and lovely facility.

There were no tea spoons in our room when we wanted to make tea at night but that was sorted the next day.

The majestic land and creatures of the wild, the calmness and peace, received positive vibes all the way.

The awful drive, if you don't have an SUV or or 4x4, chances are you gonna take really long to get to the entrance, and probably hurt your car in the process.

Loved the location and concept of what you are doing with the animals. We had only booked for one night as it was a stop over but in hindsight should have been longer to get the whole feel of the place and do a game drive.the dinner and breakfast were excellent.

The room we had was very cramped.Should have been for a single.had to climb over suitcases to get to the bathroom.

    Everything!

Bigger towels (bath sheets) in bedroom and more towels. Would like to have a guide with more info with regards to impala/game on farm (Leschwe etc)

The staff were ready and willing to accommodate our every need. The cause which they serve is admirable and their commitment to the care of the animals is heart-warming.

I would suggest that more literature on the work and activities be available in the room itself, but this is by no means a criticism.

    Large rooms

Service was beyond bad- one person seemed to be running the bar and floor for the whole place in the evening. Overall it felt like the place had recently changed ownership as everything seems to be set up well, but now not being delivered upon. Noise in rooms 4&5 from the kitchen early in the morning was also very bad.

A very good 3-star property, nicely decorated, clean, excellent value for money in a lovely location; The work Fourpaws do in rescuing the big cats to bring them to this wonderful facility; Brown, an exceptional and ever helpful staff member. :-)

We stayed three nights and just disappointed there was only one opportunity available to see the big cats, still a good one though, and a misunderstanding with our original cat tour booking on their part. We thought by staying at this property several days we may have had more of an opportunity to observe the big cats having come all the way from Australia - e.g. at feeding time for example, & despite asking specifically with plenty of notice, it didn't 'suit' them, yet others seem to have had this opportunity. We were told we could see them again if we paid for the same tour we had already done; There was absolutely no water pressure in any of the rooms one morning apparently due to some construction - not fun when you already standing in the shower! Don't rely on Google maps for directions, they are wrong, consult with Lionsrock directly, otherwise easy enough to find.

Helpfulness of the staff. Spirit of camaraderie among the guests. Location for other attractions: Clarens, Golden Gate, Drakensberg (Witsieshoek), The mountain behind lit up at night!

The road to get there is very poor. It is expensive to go to see the cats. We had two power failures in 3 days (suggest backup generator). One set of visitors' ice bucket stayed at the side of the pool all day.

We enjoyed the peace and quiet, the hiking trail and adequate breakfasts. The work they do for these animals is amazing and we enjoyed the game drive. The willingness of staff to assist with requests was also exemplary.

The 13km gravel road was a challenge, but taking it slowly meant taking in the beautiful surroundings.

    the location and venue

The last 13km needs really needs to be in a 4x4 not my little VW Polo and don't depend on the Sat-Nav, or you will end up in a field. Look for the signpost.
