A wonderful surprise in an urban location, a peaceful oasis.

The beautiful gardens

Our hotel room - we had no bath towels and were given a paraplegic room

Staff were great, attentive , friendly, efficient

Some damp , carpet a bit marked, bathroom was setup for wheelchair assist (?)

Excellent food No need to leave the lodge for the duration of the stay

Surroundings, food

Didnt include breakfast, family room was nice, booked honeymoon suite for the saturday night (courtis), only difference was a big lounge and bed, no special touches for the price and a honeymoon suite. Black waitresses were wonderful but young white waitress sulky and shouldnt be working in a restaurant.

The food was great, gardens beautiful

First of all, the hotel was not informed about our booking. So we had to move rooms after the first night, luckily they still had one room available. There was a very loud wedding downstairs, and we didnt get a good nights rest due to the noisyness. The second room smelled very mouldy and the bathroom ceiling and shower was all mouldy. The water for the bathtub was brown, so we couldnt even take a bath. No iron or ironing board available, so we had to pay to get our clothes pressed. The key card didnt work a few times, so each time we had to go back to receiption to get it reloaded. When we had to move rooms, our room wasnt ready untill 13:00, so we had to wait in the lougne, which made us run late for our wedding. Upon checking out, they wanted to charge us additionally for the first nights room, as it was at a higher charge. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anybody

The garden and location

That they could not fulfil my request. At time of bookings and it on the confirmation for extra large double bed. All I was told they will get back to which they never had the decency to do it. I had to go to reception 5times and the told they have to cancel booking and re-book at extra costs. The attitude seems that you booked via Bookings.com so it is not our problem. This was disappointing and it has to be in my reviews.

Most beautiful garden....

Not enough entertainment for kids

Location visually beautiful and staff were very helpful

The whole place was amazing. Due to other arrangements we were not able to dine there but breakfast was super. We would like to consider a group with acess to the under cover parking. For about 5+ rooms for 2 nights what would a rate be?

The beautuful scenery and the landscapes are one of a kind.

The room. There was dampness on the walls. Carpets were wet had to view other rooms in order to select a bit more comfortable one. Terrible odour in the room. Noiseness from other guests who had kids there. The card to unlock our room didnot work and we had to run between the room and the reception 3 times in the pouring rain before a staff member helped us.

The staff were helpful, breakfast service was quick and the problems regarding the size of bed and a safe not working were attended to. The gardens are world-class and public areas are attractive. .

Carpets in the public areas were badly marked and appeared dirty, chandeliers were dusty and the general smell was unappealingly musty. The rooms themselves were clean.

Friendly; comfort and staff very accomodating.

stunning gardens, absolutely peaceful and serene, staff were great and compliments to the chef as well.

the Front Office Manager, Pierre, is an effective customer-centric problem solver. He is an excellent Front Office Manager. He is a great asset and because of his treatment of me and my daughter I will take the initiative to recommend friends and family to Makaranga Lodge. Well done, Pierre.

Lovely gardens and friendly staff.

The staff were very kind and helpfull.They made our stay special and they are the reason,as well as the gardens,that we will go back.

Our room smelled musty and as if previous people smoked in the room.We could hear people in rooms next to ours.They had party tent in front of our room.

Location

Service was poor. Phones didn't work. When they eventually worked, there was no one to pick up on the other end. Room service took forever. Service is similar to that of sa government!

Gastvrijheid, goede service en het eten was geweldig goed.

Er waren wat problemen met het internet, maar men deed er alles aan om het probleem te verhelpen.

Beautiful resort set directly in the nature, very peaceful.

The room we stayed in wasn't well kept. The carpet was coming of the floor, the paint from the wall was coming down, the mirror was starting to become blind. Very sad as the resort itself is beautiful and surely something special.

Large room in a lovely garden setting. Very peaceful and tranquil.

The Gardens

Felt that the rooms needed maintenance, there were a number of unfinished items in the room.

- Dining chairs are a bit lower for the tables, but no big deal.
