Beautiful location, they washed our car! very comfortable and welcoming.

Restaurant (not run by hotel) could use better wine list given location.

Setting was great and the breakfast was excellent. We will definitely try the restaurant for dinner next time!

overlooking the most beautiful bay in the world..great room...excellent restaurant..charming host who was very helpful and had loads of ideas of things to do in the area...if you ever tire of the beach that is!

Magnificent location right on the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff.(advised on all surrounding attractions) ....loved the Birds of Eden. Lovely beach walks. Excellent restaurant.

Poor service E.G. no breakfast available on our second day. The place needs a major shake up with a good manager in place.

Superb location and very friendly owner, who gave great advice about places to visit. The way he chatted to guests at breakfast gave the place a very homely feel.

Food was excellent but the evening waiters were not particularly friendly.

Beautiful location, couldn't be better, and a lovely lady checked us in, explained the history of the hotel. Lovely service. Rooms were of top standard also, the pictures do not do them justice.

Although not part of the hotel, the service in the restaurant was lacking, not rude, just cold. To be fair, we did witness of other waiters being very pleasent to other patrons, it was just ours who was a miserable sod.

Breakfast was a real treat - sitting in the bright sunshine on the patio, with the waves crashing on the adjacent beach. And, what a lovely breakfast we had. The room had a terrific view out to sea, overlooking the beach. We were delighted to have stayed in for dinner in their Lemongrass restaurant. Lovely meal and wine, and all reasonably priced. Finally, when we came out in the morning, one of the staff had washed all the guests cars. We really appreciated that touch, especially as ours was really filthy after visiting the Addo Elephant Park the previous day.

Clumping walking noise from the wooden entrance hall floor coming through into room number 2 spoilt any afternoon naps. Needs a runner or other sound dampening arrangement on that floor

The best thing about this hotel was its position which was stunning with gorgeous views of the sea, lagoon and mountains behind. The hotel was only a few steps from a nice little beach and it was very easy to get from there to the huge sandspit by the Indian Ocean. The hotel itself had great character and our room was very nice and comfortable with a spacious bathroom and a balcony overlooking the lagoon and mountains. The food at the adjoining Lemon Grass restaurant was excellent, as was the service. We very much enjoyed staying at this hotel and hope to return in the future.

Breakfast was in a very narrow time slot - between 8 and 9 o'clock. It would have been nicer if it had gone on to 9.30 - it's good to be able to have a lie-in on holiday. Also we didn't think much of the quality of the breakfast. We had much better elsewhere. Future first time guests should note that the Lemon Grass restaurant is not really part of the hotel and, as such, guests shouldn't expect to automatically have a dining reservation there. If you want to eat there on your first night, book beforehand.

The guesthouse is beautifully situated directly at the coast - great views from our little terrace and also from the restaurant. The on-site restaurant Lemongrass was fantastic and anyone staying at the guest house should at least have dinner there once. Hotel and restaurant staff were very friendly. Owner Kees is a lovely elderly gentleman who was present at breakfast every morning to recommend activities to his guests. Car was cleaned by hotel staff every morning.

The TV was a bit on the small side but we didn't use it anyway. A little fridge in the room would have been great. Breakfast was OK but in hindsight we had much better breakfasts at the guest houses we stayed at later during our trip. Also the fact that breakfast was only served from 8 until 9 am, even on weekends, was a setback.

Location was stunning, it was practically built right on the beach. We had a lovely room with a balcony and beautiful sea view. Despite it being a bit too cold to swim, we had a refreshing dip!

There is a very popular and well-regarded restaurant on the ground floor of the building. We didn't get to eat there as we hadn't pre- booked; In itself no problem; but for the entire stay we felt that their focus is more on the restaurant than the guests. We had no interaction with the staff, which was not a big issue, but this was very untypical compared to all the other places we had stayed at during our travels through South Africa, where everybody had always been extremely helpful and attentive.

Everything was pretty much perfect. The setting is fabulous - how could it be bettered? Sitting on our balcony in the evening, looking over the lagoon was just idyllic. We dined at Lemongrass Restaurant 3 times and the food was superb - definitely recommended. Kees, the owner would chat to you at breakfast and talk about your plans for the day. He would make suggestions to make sure you saw the main attractions in the area - very helpful. Margaret booked golf for us at the 2 local courses and also booked restaurants for the evenings we were not dining at Lemongrass. A very relaxing stay on our trip along the Garden Route.

I could not fault the personal service. the staff could not help any more than they did. The setting of the the manor is unique. The room was very clean and comfortable.

The hotel was quite good for its price. It fullfilled all my expectations.

The owner, Kees, is very nice and tries to help you feel your time properly in Plettenberg Bay, and gives 10% discount in many activities.

My husband and I were really NOT happy with Milkwood Manor. The Hotel is old looking, lacks character and attention to the finer details. Not value for money, the prices represents a much higher standart hotel, which is not. This hotel, although pleasant, doesn't give you a special feeling, a signature, which made our stay dull and unexciting. The owner tries to make you book places for dinner at his restaurant a bit too much, even on the account of giving longer estimated driving time to other restaurants.

It was a truly idyllic spot with the therapeutic sounds of the sea. A very relaxing location with lots of interesting places to explore nearby. The wonderful restaurant on site, the Lemon grass is an added bonus with superb views of the sea. We would strongly recommend the Milkwood Manor on Sea!

Fantastic location. Kees the owner takes pride in his establishment and will engage with his guests to ensure their stay is the best it an be. The laundry service provided by the hotel is professional and at very reasonable cost.
