Monte Bello Estate  

Vi boede der ikke. Havde fra Danmark bestilt 2 overnatninger. Fra Durban bestilte vi yderligere 2 overnatninger. Da vi ankom kl 19,45 vidste personen på stedet intet om ekstra overnatninger. Værelserne svarede ifl vores piger, på ingen måde til billederne på internettet. Vi ankom sultne, men kunne hverken tilbydes vådt eller tørt. Så vi fandt istedet et 4-stjernet hotel inde i Bloemfontein.

it was very still

The poor signposting, The poor finishes in the room( poor workmanship) lack of fridge, hairdryer or two pin adaptors. Cooked Breakfast was prepared and stored on a coverd plate on a hottray. If eggs ask the guest what they want.

I liked the location! I do like staying at Monte Bello.

We had a bedside lamp that was broken. There is not much in the way of hanging space or place to put other clothes. Friends of ours in another room didn't have a kettle but tea and coffee was provided in containers!

The bedding was stained and dirty. Someone else's hair on the pillow. Coffee stains on other pillow. Kettle in odd position on stairs when plugged in.

Breakfast was prepared early and placed on a warmer. Breakfast was basically a rasher of bacon and egg, no tomatoes etc. The tv was too small and impossibly high up, not enough channels eg no news channel The towel was too small No cupboard space. Most importantly I chose mb because it advertised wifi as being available in the rooms which meant I could do my computer work at night and do business during the day. I had to waste time and money during the day finding wifi hotspots. When I complained michael said he would take it up with the owner, I am not expecting any feedback. My advice is stick to weddings.

The telephone number on Booking Confirmations and on their website was not answered at all. This caused me to only arrive at my accommodation at 19:30 in the evening. The road works in Bloemfontein makes it extremely difficult to find Monte Bello and the least of services they could provide was to answer their phone to provide directions. The breakfast spread was minimal, with only instant coffee, yogurt with cereals and bread...

Nice big rooms

No Internet

There was no hot water, and considering the temperature was below freezing, and you had to have a just off icy cold shower, I find that unacceptable. .

A most enjoyable stay - very quiet and just what we needed for the weekend break.

It was very peaceful

The floor was very cold, undertile/floor heating would have made it more comfortable. A chair in the room would have been useful.

Leaving it

No refreshment facilities in the lodge. Breakfast not available until 7 o'clock. Staff, with the exception of David, were very scarce and not very helpful. No proper parking facilities.

It is a very nice place to stay and all the staff was very helpfull.

No complaints

Booked a room and reguest for info about my stay was not answered.We had to stay in one room with four adults and one bathroom and I think with some communication I would have preferred to book two seperate rooms.

Nature

We were there for a wedding and we only stayed over for one night. Your rooms needs an upgrade, we had no hot water and was very uncomfortable to shower in cold water, you need cupboards for hanging clothes, you need to put lose carpets in the rooms too. Our room which was no 7 was really not worth the price. We liked the venue where the wedding took place and your food was absolutely fantastic, compliments to the chef, the chapel was also beautifull, everything else except our room was very good.

Set in nice grounds.

Map on website is really poor. It took us 90 minutes of driving around Bloemfontein before we found it. The owner took our original call when we notified him we would be late, however did not answer our next 3 calls as he was 'at the theatre'. My girlfriend and I were also given a twin room when we asked for a double. After complaining this was switched by the kind gentleman (who was not the owner) who was given the job of helping us.
