The bumpy dirt road to get to it
Beautiful setting at the end of a dirt road, very relaxing, staff could not do enough to make you feel welcome and valued Both Christian & Brenda made us all feel very welcome. A really enjoyable game drive, highly recommended. Braai was wonderful. Waterhole viewing amazing. Helicopter ride was great. Owners live on site, very approachable & helpful.
The lack of indication to find the lodge. The small area of the reserve.
Setting very close to nature with exciting dinner around a fire place on the open terrace. Good safari drive with mainly different type of antilopes an girafe.
The service at dinner time was slow (almost an hour for our main courses, we didn't order starters, and there was only one other family dining). But the food was great when it came - one of my favourite meals of my 2 week stay in SA. And the wifi wasn't free, which we knew about beforehand, but still.
Loved this place - our visit was one of the highlights of our garden route tour. Compared to other game lodges, this one was a more manageable price without compromising on comforts and ambience. We were met personally in the car park on arrival and shown around, welcome drinks offered and shown to our chalet personally, which was very welcoming. Our chalet (family, 2 bedrooms) had a large bed and a single downstairs, and a cute bedroom up in the eaves with 2 single beds. The bathroom has a shower and plenty of towels and toiletries. There was a kitchenette area with a large fridge and minibar, tea and coffee and a bbq area outside with plenty of outside space. On our visit it was too cold to swim but the pool area looked fun and we'll maintained, and my son enjoyed the small play area. The lodge organises game drives (we had a great time on an afternoon drive, spotting mammals, and interacting with a caracal) thanks to our knowledgeable guide. Dinner and breakfast in the atmospheric restaurant with Nyala approaching the watering hole was very special. The experience felt personal and distinguished.
Pillows too hard and little wild animals.
Food, guide, nature, setting.
We were here with our young son and had a really nice couple of days the laid back atmosphere made it a really relaxing time. Chris and the staff were really welcoming and made every effort to make our stay memorable... Even when we had a Particularly large rain spider take up residence in our bathroom
We really liked the private game drive with Christean. We also got an upgrade to the family house.
The sun beds around the pool were broken and a bit grubby.
The game drive with Christian was a delight. The room was comfortable. The food was good.
Friendly people. Nice guide at the quad-biking. Take the time for you and know a lot to tell about the animals.
The Nuary Game Lodge is a small and nice lodge very well located on the way from George to Capetown. The pool left more to be desired, but it was not so important. The highlight was a Jeep Safari with Christiam - a passionate naturalist who knew everything about animals and could very well show us and tell us about the reserve. Thank you.
It felt like we were on our own private game lodge...the staff were so lovley, attentive and friendly. The thatch cabins were fabulous! The safari and sunset picnic was amazing! This was one of the highlights of our trip and we will be back as soon as we can!
The approach road.
Location, the staff & the Chalets.
We could not find fault.
Staff welcoming and exceptionally helpful. Lodge has every facility except wi fi.
the breakfast really took long - about 1 hour
Our stay there was like magic. The hotel is far from closest towns and big road, it's perfectly hidden at wild nature, so you can enjoy total silence, wild life, animals and views. Game drives are wonderful. So much fun! Rooms are very modern and 100% equipped (we stayed at a large 4-bedrooms lodge).
No tv, no wifi at the Chalet that worked, only at the Main lobby, small beds - not big enough for two adults, breakfast Order took extremely Long. The Pool is not very clean.
The lodge was cute and we had our own Fire Place for Doing Barbecue (you can Borrow plates,... For free) Everything Looks very Fine. We did a Quad safari through their own Game Park which was very Fine. Itbis very peaceful ans silent.
This has been one of favourite spots in South Africa - such personal attendance and great chats at the bar with Martin and PJ. Chris, our passionate guide around the park with has a remarkable knowledge of both animal and bird life. Chris patiently made sure we experienced every possible siting. Look after our little black Impala (which we nick-named Steve!) - such an exciting find! Fantastic food and ambience, a great holiday - thank you to you all.
They forgot to hive us the code to open the gate when we left. Do we had to go back for it a 0 min round trip!
Really different place to stay. Great activities on offer.
• No big 5! • No 4x4 vehicles for game drives (only quad bikes). •The chalet was typically African but poorly finished - large gaps between window & door joists & roof in bathroom. • Decor & furnishings rundown & tired. The cattle skin mat in the room was only fit for the skip!
This Reserve had two redeeming factors; Christiaan (one of the guides & whose enthusiasm & birding knowledge is infectious, and the dinner (cost extra). The waterhole that was illuminated at dusk, added a lovely dimension. The bats flying around were great. Lots of birdlife with the possibilty of seeing circa 150 species on site. I saw about 60 species despite appalling weather for South Africa.
Toaster at breakfast takes for ever, should be replaced !
You stay in a very comfortable thatched roof lodge, with great facilities. Everything you need is provided, tea, coffee, stocked bar etc, private patio area with fire/BBQ facilities, sun loungers and table & chairs. A brilliant place to watch the stars ( except in a downpour ). A very short walk,10m, takes you to the main building where the restaurant offers a lovely choice of food for every meal, and a huge selection of beers and wines. A number of activities are on offer, including, game drive, helicopter rides and quad biking. The scenery is amazing, the couple of hours we were out with our great guide Chris were the highlight of our holiday, and we would love to do it again. Also, the staff were ever so pleasant and helpful, we hope the Lodge continues to go from strength to strength.
The service-level is very low. Reception and restaurant unattended (because the one and only employee did also the gamedrive for other guests), old furniture in the garden and a dirty pool.
This place is perfect to go if you want to experience and be a part of nature. Good kitchen! Realy good views, nature-minded staff and excellent game-drives.
We were not contacted by the game lodge personnel in advance and did not receive the entry code for the gate. The gate is unmanned and very isolated. The number of game species is limited mainly to herbivores and game drives are cancelled if it rains
Rural location, bird life and Christian who was an excellent guide with an extensive knowledge particularly of the different bird species. Chalets were well equipped with a rustic African feel
Very kind and professional team. Awsome gamedrive with Chris as a guide.
Breakfast was average Chalets in need of renovation
Friendly staff Nice setting of lodge Clean
Very informal reception creating some confusion at first. The fact that poachers had flown in and killed the only rhino on the park for the horn - senseless
The chef was great as were the guides. The lodge and grounds were great and they tried to make everything feel casual and relaxed. A home away from home
Debiting my credit without consent and subsequently charging us nearly double for our accommodation - it was rectified but I was very annoyed!
The lodge is very accessible and one feels like you are in the Kruger with all the Acacia Trees on the property. The quad bike game drive was brilliant and the guide was excellent and very informative - well worth the expense as you get very close to the game. A highlight was the baby Giraffe, a low point was the Rhino was butchered by poachers in January! The bikes are noisy and you do sacrifice peace and quiet and creeping up on the game. The chalets are comfortable with crisp clean linen and electric blankets on main beds. However in our chalet the internal staircase was very steep and a hazard with small children. The breakfast was adequate but when more guests arrived on the 2 night, they made more of an effort the following day. Dinner however posed a problem for the chef who seemed to be waiter and chef all in one. We ate out in Mossel Bay on our second evening as the wait for service was excessive.
Pool area was run down and pool was not usable.
We enjoyed the quad biking and the game drive. The staff were friendly and helpful.
