The service at dinner time was slow (almost an hour for our main courses, we didn't order starters, and there was only one other family dining). But the food was great when it came - one of my favourite meals of my 2 week stay in SA. And the wifi wasn't free, which we knew about beforehand, but still.
Loved this place - our visit was one of the highlights of our garden route tour. Compared to other game lodges, this one was a more manageable price without compromising on comforts and ambience. We were met personally in the car park on arrival and shown around, welcome drinks offered and shown to our chalet personally, which was very welcoming. Our chalet (family, 2 bedrooms) had a large bed and a single downstairs, and a cute bedroom up in the eaves with 2 single beds. The bathroom has a shower and plenty of towels and toiletries. There was a kitchenette area with a large fridge and minibar, tea and coffee and a bbq area outside with plenty of outside space. On our visit it was too cold to swim but the pool area looked fun and we'll maintained, and my son enjoyed the small play area. The lodge organises game drives (we had a great time on an afternoon drive, spotting mammals, and interacting with a caracal) thanks to our knowledgeable guide. Dinner and breakfast in the atmospheric restaurant with Nyala approaching the watering hole was very special. The experience felt personal and distinguished.
