Our stay there was like magic. The hotel is far from closest towns and big road, it's perfectly hidden at wild nature, so you can enjoy total silence, wild life, animals and views. Game drives are wonderful. So much fun! Rooms are very modern and 100% equipped (we stayed at a large 4-bedrooms lodge).
the breakfast really took long - about 1 hour
The lodge was cute and we had our own Fire Place for Doing Barbecue (you can Borrow plates,... For free) Everything Looks very Fine. We did a Quad safari through their own Game Park which was very Fine. Itbis very peaceful ans silent.
No tv, no wifi at the Chalet that worked, only at the Main lobby, small beds - not big enough for two adults, breakfast Order took extremely Long. The Pool is not very clean.
This has been one of favourite spots in South Africa - such personal attendance and great chats at the bar with Martin and PJ. Chris, our passionate guide around the park with has a remarkable knowledge of both animal and bird life. Chris patiently made sure we experienced every possible siting. Look after our little black Impala (which we nick-named Steve!) - such an exciting find! Fantastic food and ambience, a great holiday - thank you to you all.
Really different place to stay. Great activities on offer.
They forgot to hive us the code to open the gate when we left. Do we had to go back for it a 0 min round trip!
This Reserve had two redeeming factors; Christiaan (one of the guides & whose enthusiasm & birding knowledge is infectious, and the dinner (cost extra). The waterhole that was illuminated at dusk, added a lovely dimension. The bats flying around were great. Lots of birdlife with the possibilty of seeing circa 150 species on site. I saw about 60 species despite appalling weather for South Africa.
• No big 5! • No 4x4 vehicles for game drives (only quad bikes). •The chalet was typically African but poorly finished - large gaps between window & door joists & roof in bathroom. • Decor & furnishings rundown & tired. The cattle skin mat in the room was only fit for the skip!
You stay in a very comfortable thatched roof lodge, with great facilities. Everything you need is provided, tea, coffee, stocked bar etc, private patio area with fire/BBQ facilities, sun loungers and table & chairs. A brilliant place to watch the stars ( except in a downpour ). A very short walk,10m, takes you to the main building where the restaurant offers a lovely choice of food for every meal, and a huge selection of beers and wines. A number of activities are on offer, including, game drive, helicopter rides and quad biking. The scenery is amazing, the couple of hours we were out with our great guide Chris were the highlight of our holiday, and we would love to do it again. Also, the staff were ever so pleasant and helpful, we hope the Lodge continues to go from strength to strength.
Toaster at breakfast takes for ever, should be replaced !
This place is perfect to go if you want to experience and be a part of nature. Good kitchen! Realy good views, nature-minded staff and excellent game-drives.
The service-level is very low. Reception and restaurant unattended (because the one and only employee did also the gamedrive for other guests), old furniture in the garden and a dirty pool.
Rural location, bird life and Christian who was an excellent guide with an extensive knowledge particularly of the different bird species. Chalets were well equipped with a rustic African feel
We were not contacted by the game lodge personnel in advance and did not receive the entry code for the gate. The gate is unmanned and very isolated. The number of game species is limited mainly to herbivores and game drives are cancelled if it rains
Very kind and professional team. Awsome gamedrive with Chris as a guide.
Friendly staff Nice setting of lodge Clean
Breakfast was average Chalets in need of renovation
The chef was great as were the guides. The lodge and grounds were great and they tried to make everything feel casual and relaxed. A home away from home
Very informal reception creating some confusion at first. The fact that poachers had flown in and killed the only rhino on the park for the horn - senseless
The lodge is very accessible and one feels like you are in the Kruger with all the Acacia Trees on the property. The quad bike game drive was brilliant and the guide was excellent and very informative - well worth the expense as you get very close to the game. A highlight was the baby Giraffe, a low point was the Rhino was butchered by poachers in January! The bikes are noisy and you do sacrifice peace and quiet and creeping up on the game. The chalets are comfortable with crisp clean linen and electric blankets on main beds. However in our chalet the internal staircase was very steep and a hazard with small children. The breakfast was adequate but when more guests arrived on the 2 night, they made more of an effort the following day. Dinner however posed a problem for the chef who seemed to be waiter and chef all in one. We ate out in Mossel Bay on our second evening as the wait for service was excessive.
Debiting my credit without consent and subsequently charging us nearly double for our accommodation - it was rectified but I was very annoyed!
We enjoyed the quad biking and the game drive. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Pool area was run down and pool was not usable.
The quad bike safari ride was excellent the guide was very knowledgable and the 3 hours flew by, we saw giraffe, zebra and wildebeest we were treated to a pick nick and both my young girls thoroughly enjoyed it .
the food was not good except for the buffet breakfast that was lovely , we were very disappointed in the dinner we had the chops and the sauce was terrible.
Very friendly owners nice eveings at the fireplace the safari picnic
the guys who killed sir fabian -the rhino
The staff of Nyaru openly shared their passion and commitment to the conservation of South African wildlife. Their hospitality was awesome and we were made to feel as though we were visiting with family. We wished we could have stayed longer.
You stay in a very comfortable thatched roof lodge, with a great and kwerky but basic shower area. Everything you need is provided, tea coffee etc, private patio area with fire/BBQ facilities, sun loungers and chair tables etc A brilliant place to watch the stars next to your own fire, as there is very little light pollution. A very short walk takes you to the main building where the restaurant offers a lovely choice of food for every meal, and a huge selection of beers and wines. A number of activities are on offer from drives to helicopter rides and my favourite, quad biking. The scenery is amazing, the couple of hours we were out with our great guide where a highlight of my holiday, and I would love to do it again.
Unfortunately they lost the only rhino to poachers recently, which was disappointing for all concerned, the animals we did see made up for it. I have never been so close to a number of wonderful giraffes.
Not what I expect from a game lodge. No game. Houses need some refurbishment.
Our guide for our nature walk was really really good. The scenery was very pretty. Despite an early start we will all keep a really good souvenir of it. There isn't many animals and certainly none of the big 5 but the atmosphere is very nice and peaceful when the quad bikes are away from you!
As soon as we arrived and before we even checked in in our rooms we had to order our dinner I.e. 4pm for a dinner at about 7.30pm!!! Then when we sat down and the meal was awful. Some of us hardly ate any of their meal as it was so bad. Also the lodge offers 4 x4 safari rides however there isn't many animals to see and it isn't big enough to really to justify it certainly not for the price in my opinion. The lodge is over priced for what it offers and for that reason we wouldn't return there.
Everything was excellent. Staff and owners were always helpful and friendly, rooms aren't massive but are very quaint and african and also include air conditioning. We enjoyed a number of activities and would recommend to anyone planning a visit. Overall we thought the venue was excellent and well priced.
Lovely location. Quad bike safari was great fun.
Excellent service from the very friendly people working at Nyaru. We stayed here for 6 days together with 2 small children in the age of 3. Very good Game Drives in the open game truck and especially at the quads! Very good breakfast! From here it is less than 20 minutes to Mosselbay, Hartenbosch and about 30 minutes to George. I would recommend this place to everyone!
Nice location, privately run mid-sized lodge away from the masses; We enjoyed the guided Nature Hike
- food was ok; "Picnic at sunset in wildlife" is no good value for money
EVERYTHING!! Second time at NYARU and we will definitely go back again. We had an amazing and very interesting game drive with a fantastic guide. Such a peaceful and relaxing place owned by a wonderful and friendly family.
