Old Thatch Lodge

Simply superb. Only there one night. Was given excellent guidance about what to do in town while we were there. Breakfast on the stoop was divine.

Great authentic atmosphere of the house and rooms, use of kitchen for making some tea or snack, all the friendly dogs, straight forward host with lots of information about living in South Africa, yummy home- made breakfast

Beautiful place, great hospitality. Wonderful breakfast! We have been before and will go again, mainly for a relaxing few days. Lots of good restaurants in Swellendam too. We enjoyed Koornlands, Vagabond, Connections and Powell House.

The place is very relaxing and the staff is very friendly. We took a self catering accomodation but we decided to have dinner at the restaurant. Nice choice, do that.

The ambience was relaxed. The rooms were quirky but with all one would need. The kitchen was available should one need anything and the house was only a few hundred metres from several good eating places.

This Lodge has such character, Awesome rooms, Cosy comfortable and warm. Great lounge area to get together with whomever you may meet around the open fireplace drinking some of the local Reds! Host is awesome, friendly with many stories to tell. She also has some very friendly large dogs, extremely friendly! This has to be one of the best places I've stay in southern South Africa.. Awesome!!!

Karin was an excellent and helpful hostess.

Beautiful place and Karin the owner was fabulous.Had a lovely overnight stay,with a delightful evening relaxing in front of the real fire (it was autumn). Her `extra` friends were enteraining ( 3 irish wolf hounds and a little cutie ). Breakfast was amazing,totally spoilt and the most enjoyable breakfast I have encountered on any holiday,both the food and ambience was a treat. We used this as a stop over on our journey,we did not explore Swellendham,so cannot comment on the area.
