This is a grand old house that is best described as well lived in. Needs a bit of updating. The pool needs some attention. Not at all inviting. I don’t understand why they don’t just get an expert in to give it a thorough clean without doing it themselves.
The staff are wonderful.

This hotel is a real treat. The rooms had lots of space and an amazing bath with amenities. We enjoyed walking down the road to the restaurant for dinner and breakfast.
The restaurant was terrific and there were lots of options for breakfast! There's a coffee shop and other restaurants and bars just 1 road over everything is walkable. I'd recommend staying here if you're visiting Stellenbosch 100%
The location is brilliant, so central. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. I arrived early and they looked after my luggage for me, then took it to my room while I was out for lunch. They also allowed me to leave my luggage there the next morning after I had checked out. The hotel is old and quaint, giving you that real 'old world' experience so fitting of Stellenbosch.
The property is handy for Stellenbosch and surrounding areas. There is plenty of parking - although some way from the premises. Our room was comfortable and spacious enough. A highlight was the restaurant. Our evening meal was excellent as was breakfast. We had stayed in a number of other excellent hotels over that period - and The Devon Valley food shone above the others.
Lovely hotel located in a quiet street in Stellenbosch, with welcoming staff & garden facilities. We had a lovely big room with plenty of space - and great bathroom. There was a pool and terrace, which was lovely to eat breakfast from. The breakfast was nice with a good buffet selection & choice of hot food.
Staff is very helpful. Everything is great. We stayed in student/teenage room with bunk. It's also quite comfortable. The hotel itself is so cosy. Location especially is great. You are close to everywhere bu foot, all the restaurants and shops are 5 mins away by walk.
The staff was very friendly. The rooms were comfortable and the service was fantastic. Breakfast was plentiful, with both cold and hot options for Americans and Europeans. Location across the street from Stellenbosch University was convenient.
- Amazing view and setting
- Large “villa” rooms
- The main infinity pool was great
- Good location between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek
- Breakfast was decent (but not extraordinary)
- Snacks, beers and rosé in the room were a nice touch
The central location is perfect for enjoying the super restaurants, boutiques and wine bars of Stellenbosch. For parents meeting up with students, it's perfect. We loved the spacious lounge and the leafy balcony up in the trees.
This hotel is in an excellent position which makes walking to anywhere in Stellenbosch easy. The staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Parking is always an issue in Stellenbosch so having parking was also an advantage.

Absolutely fabulous hotel, set on a picturesque golf course and wine estate! Super helpful and friendly staff. Perfect location to explore all the different wine farms and not too far from Cape Town.
The location is fantastic, great views and central to many wine farms in Stellenbosch. Good facilities, thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast complimentary wine tasting and the proximity to the golf club.
We had a very spacious room and terrace with a lovely view of the vineyards. We also had a lovely wine tasting and fell in love with their Portwine. It’s just a short drive to get to Stellenbosch
