Friendly manager, who did try - kind of.
Everything had a feel of being very run down and in need of maintenance and upkeep. From turning off the main road and faced with a poorly maintained cobble driveway, leaning fences was a good indication of what to expect. The manager was very friendly, but the running of the facility was not up to standard, especially considering the price of R1500 per night for the room.During my booking the indication was that the Honey moon suite was the only room available, suffice to say, if my hubby did take us there for our first night together, we may not have lasted 24 years ;) It was rather disappointing. A below average room, charging an above average price. Un-mowed lawns, cobwebs and poor house keeping evident wherever you looked. It is sad, because it could be a wonderful setting.
Beautiful setting, tranquillity with stunning restaurant a valuable add on
Grounds could be better maintained, no shower in bathroom is not ideal.
Lovely Cape Dutch building with luxury rooms. nice setting with secluded pool. The Manager was very friendly and gave us a good wine and brandy tasting. We subsequently bought 2 cases of their Oude Wellington Blanc @ Blanc and Currant Abbey wines. A most enjoyable stay.
lovely cool character building in fine estate
The staff were fantastic and restaurant food was amazing....The place is quaint and homely....value for money..
The room was large and a 2nd bedroom was available, Spacious and well furnished. Very satisfied.
We loved the feeling of being home ,it was an amazing time shared with family and friends. The restaurant adjoined to the Guesthouse was amazing and the food and service was excellent.
Room was perfect (space!), dogs are friendly, horse-riding nearby, excellent food at the restaurant, great housekeeping service
Stunning getaway spot for my son and I - cycling, horse riding , playing pool and enjoying the amazing scenery. Luved all the animals too and the rooms were lovely- huge bonus having fans in the rooms!!! Restaurant was prob a bit on the smart side for our style getaway but the food was so delisiously prepared that we savoyred every second!!!
Liked the old style farm character and the fact that there was a restaurant.
The restaurant was over-priced and although the food was average. The rooms were probably very nice years ago but are in need of attention. A sign in our room said to phone reception for fresh milk, ironing board etc. - but there was no phone in the room. Staff weren't readily available for questions. The choice from the breakfast buffet was very hit & miss.
A wonderful bucolic old-farm setting A stunning open ceiling, with beams showing Functioning antique bathroom equipment Great placement of terrace, for sunset and breakfast Nice, cosy restaurant
The lack of welcoming by what turned out to be the new (Chinese) wife of the owner (a German dentist) Uncertainty about continuity in the running of the place
I loved the setting, an historic house with antique furniture and being able to wander amongst the farm. Pool and restaurant on the grounds. Very close to other vineyards
The office phone could be heard in my room loudly, do lucky no one called after 7. The breakfast didn't start until 8 on Sunday, a little late for me
This place has a lovely rustic ambience with its Cape Dutch architecture and beautiful setting, great for an early morning or late evening walk. Room was very nice (except it didn't have aircon), breakfast was really good and family who run it are very friendly and helpful
I booked a room with a fan but no aircon, I knew this at the time of booking. However the heat hit about 40c when I was there and it was far too hot at night. Best to spend a bit extra and get a room with aircon if going in summer!
Very good quality linen! Plug and big mirrow in Bathroom. Very peaceful! Friendly staff. Very clean.
No comfortable chair/couch to watch T.V. Over-priced restaurant!
The manager was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean.
Breakfast was very boring, even no fresh fruit, only toast breads... Pool was dirty. Airco wasn't working and we could hear our neighbour snoring the whole night.
Wonderful setting amongst the vineyards with superb view of the mountains, very close to Bain`s Kloof Pass and Ceres, Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franchhoek. We stayed in a lovely, cosy cottage on the historical Cape Dutch Estate equipped with everything one needs for selfcatering. Breakfasts were great with friendly service and when Edith (the manageress) noticed I had a bad flue she even prepared a special herbal tea that got me going again. Will definitely be back again!
