Owners Stephan & Lindi Busch took over the Pat Busch Mountain Reserve since 2012 and have been living in the area for over 15 years. They are very knowledgeable on things to do in the area, great places to eat and the best places to get out with the children (they have two young ones of their own!) They have been busy with several upgrades and renovations to the various cottages and farmhouse accommodation since they took over in 2012 and now also offer weddings over the summer season with the spectacular mountains as their backdrop.

Property info

Pat Busch Mountain Reserve was started in the 1980's by Stephan's parents, Pat & Karin Busch. Pat Busch, his father, had always been an avid nature lover and wanted to protect the natural fauna & heritage of the Cape mountain fynbos. He proceeded to purchase several tracts of adjacent mountain property over the decades and formed the nature reserve. He opened up the reserve to hikers and nature lovers with overnight guest cottages under the name the 'Pat Busch Private Nature Reserve'. The nature reserve comprises pristine fynbos, hiking trails, little streams and a freshwater mountain dam for swimming & fishing. It is also home to a rare and protected species of Protea which flowers in the Spring time. Guests can often see wild deer in the early morning or late evening namely; Bushbuck, Fallow deer, Rhebok, Duiker & Grysbok. Stephan & Lindi Busch recently added a salt-water swimming pool to the nature reserve for guests wanting to cool off in the summer months. The pool boasts two Martini-style seats with a spectacular view of the valley and surrounding mountains.

Pat Busch Mountain Reserve is perfectly situated to explore the spectacular Robertson Wine Valley, where guests can discover as many as 48 wineries, enjoy a boat cruise on the Breede River or enjoy a lunch at one of the restaurants or deli style eateries along the way. Pat Busch Mountain Reserve is nestled at the end of a country road on a well kept secret called 'Klaasvoogds Meander' which in itself boasts 3-4 different restaurants, a spa & wellness centre, an olive and lavender boutique farmstall, a succulent and cactus nursery, and three small wine producers. The area offers plenty for those wanting to enjoy walks and hikes, fishing or mountain biking.
