Depite having my booking confirmation from Booking.com, there was no record of my booking on arrival. I then had to pay in advance for the room and then had to pay for each individual transaction (E.G. room service/breakfast) at the time of the transaction by the same credit card I had already paid for the room with. Made for an uncomfortable and disruptive stay.

To wait until 14:00 to get a room though I had requested to be accommodated earlier. I slept in the car waiting for the room. I wondered if it could have been different if I had my Prokard card with me.

There was a lot of noise! People knocking at my room at 2am in the morning shouting! I stayed at this hotel in December and had a wonderful time. This time around it was very bad. Our breakfast bill for the two days was inconsistent. Day one we were told children younger than 12 years pay half price and on the second day children younger than 12 years don not pay.

The hotel itself - architecture, rooms, design, was grand and colonial - a beautiful setting. It's also right on the beach, across from an amusement park, and craft market; and down the road from uShaka marine world. It's very lively and an excellent location.

The staff were dreadful - absolutely disinterested in you as a guest, and rude. The breakfast buffet was expensive and old.

The breakfast was good the rest was very ordinary.

The staff where generally friendly but they were not very efficient at their work. Our towels were removed before we had finished showering (8:30am).

The location was great, on the beach side and during the festive season the beach front is alive.

They were unable to provide me with secure risk free parking and I had to park my car on the road. It was the silly season so I can't blame them, it was however an inconvenience and a worrying experience.

The Staff was overfriendly and vey helpfull especially the conceirge

It is at the centre of all the hotels at the beachfront, when go to Shaka Marine its just walk away, when you go to Moses Mabhida is just walk away and all the arcade facilities are just in front of you.

We stood for quite a long time at the reception counter for service, on the 1st of jan we were never supplied with bath towels as promised by the cleaning lady we ended up using our own the followng day, same day again i phoned and asked for iced cubes i was told that the machine is broken but the lady i spoke to promised me that she will make a plan she stood me up until i deciced to go down to the bar and i was assisted with kindness by the bar man on duty. And i was totaly not impressed about the iron demand pls try to buy many irons as possible. I rate your reception staff 1 star in terms of friendliness and your Poters were not available at their work station in most cases, BUT we believe that you can improve.

Underground parking was not big enough. I was woken up at about 12 midnight to come and move the car. Can you imagine!

Great view of the beach and the action in Durban's Golden Mile. Very comfortable beds.

The amusement park across the street is open until 10 pm, and can be noisy.

I spent my honeymoon there 31 years ago and although I booked a basic room, the staff upgraded me to a sea facing suite on my request for an upgrade. Very kind of them.

Unfortunately, the room was overlooking the amusement park and the noise was terrible. Screams came from one of the rides below our window. The number of people on the beachfront made the beachfront a no-go area for us. But this is not the fault of the hotel. If you want any peace and quiet, dont go there in December.

Cockroaches are a no-no, its something controllable. There was one receptionist, and she looked too busy or too preoccupied with admin work to give guests some hospitality.

Breakfast and service was pathetic! Will never recommend this hotel to anyone and neither will °̩ ever stay there myself again!

The room was very nice and comfortable. I had an option of feeling up my fridge with items I wanted. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

My balcony was dirty. It was only cleaned on Saturday afternoon when I requested that it be cleaned and I did not use it that much on Saturday afternoon and evening. . I used it quite a lot on Friday evening and Saturday morning but it was filty, with a cigarette butt and a bone I suppose from previous guests. I hate smoking filth and smoking. I still paid in full for this filth. Another thing is that when I requested a late check-out time I was told there will be additional charges. It was weekend of Amashova and if you have cyclists staying attheir hotel and leaving after the race you have to consider late checkout.

- Clumsiness concerning my reservation through booking.com; I had to wait and ctively participate in clarifying a booking that was not duly registered. - Noise at night: from 23.00 - 24.00 hrs it sounded like someone was operating a chain-saw right under my window

I chose this hotel to celebrate our 34th Wedding Anniversary. My wife and I were totally satisfied, and everything was beyond our expectations. I'm a Golden Prokard member, and just mentioned to the receptionist that I would kindly like to make my stay a special one with my wife - it was a surprise for her. My booking was upgraded to a suite (room 211) which we appreciated very much. This was the best treatment that we have ever received from any hotel so far. Thank you very very much!!!!
