Our reservation was incomplete on their system. Far from the beach, across railway. Impersonal feel. Only buffet in restaurant. No nearby restaurant as alternative.

Friendly and businesslike attitude demonstrated by most of the fmale of the staff.

Indifferent and unwelcoming attitude demonstrated by some of the male staff. Broken down safe box in our room and absence of a toilet brush in the bathroom. Our several requests to provide a toilet brush were ignored.

Firstly on checking in we were given a room with a king size bed (I have 2 kids). I was told that this was the information given to them even though I gave them the bookings.com confirmation for a family room. I was told that they did not have any sea facing rooms and that we would be given a "back up lagoon facing room" for the night. When we were taken to the room it wasn't ready. We went back downstairs and the manager told us she would give us another room (lagoon facing) and that she would move us to a sea-facing room the next day. This already put a damper on my holiday. We were moved the next day however but landed up with a huge packet of shoes that did not belong to us. Secondly we ate at the hotel for 1 breakfast and 1 dinner only and honestly speaking I would not recommend it to anyone. The food is not up to standard, the dishes are not refilled and the prices are just not worth it. Thirdly there are no umbrellas at the pool side and waiters don't bother to come around to find out if you would like anything. Although the locaton of this hotel is excellant I would not recommend it to anyone. I've stayed at the Protea Hotel in Nelspruit and it was wonderful. Karridene really needs serious jacking up.

1.Service was bad, they did not have our booking - took almost 1 hr to get a room 2. No room service 3. Could not make outside call after 10.00 pm 4. Breakfast service is awful 5. Drinking water not available after 10.00 pm .5. Too far out of city - no restaurant within 15 km 6. Staff o are ill trained and unsuited for the work

We booked a Delux King room we stayed in a room with a double bed made for midgets. The adveretising was misleading. The hotel advertise three types of rooms, double room with two double beds, delux room with king size bed and a junior suite with king size bed. they do not advertise a room with only a double bed. The hair dryer cord do not reach over the dresser. Toilet dont flush and the seat was chipped. Single ply toilet paper at a hotel?? We make use on a regular basis of Protea hotel in Nelspriut and Mont Rose. We can not recommend The Karridene hotel in Illovo

1. The location was ideal for us because we needed a half-way stop. 2. Our deluxe King room was quite large & sea-facing. 3. Tea/coffee making facilities were provided. 4. The bar/lounge areas was quite large & comfortable.

1. The bathroom was far below par for this type of hotel, especially considering the price for a deluxe King room. It was small, not clean & there was mould on the tiles around the tub!! The sealer around the tub was coming off as well. In addition, you would think a shower glass would be installed instead of a silly shower curtain. 2. The safe did not work, but since we stayed for 1 night, we did not bother complaining. 3. We were taken to a family room on arrival, even though we had booked a deluxe King. However, this was quickly rectified by reception.

The Campers on the other side that invaded the pool area/sports centre. They were young however very drunk.
