Protea Hotel Knysna Quays  

Protea has a great location. We bouhth a standard room and they changed us to a ocean view room. The wi fi is for free, but you need to take a password at the reception... I recomend the hotel !!

On arrival at the hotel the reception desk could not find our resevation made more than month before " thorugh booking.com" and guaranteed by credit card. After being shown our confirmation, despite having booked a superior room ocean view they gave us a standard room with pool view. Hotel more appropiate for goups tha individual clients.

Breakfast and service very poor.

This hotel was positioned right on the Quays so access to the shops and restaurants was easy,and the views from our bedroom were lovely.The hotel has a heated pool so after a day of touring it was good to chill out by the pool. All the staff were friendly,breakfast was great and the rooms clean would definately stay here again.

I liked the location we had a view of the quays the boats and the ocean. The bedroom and bathroom were very modern and tastefully decorated

That there was no restaurant in the hotel so that you had to have your evening meal in recommended outlets.

This hotel was in a great location and had good spacious rooms. Good food (bfast), as they do not do evening meals. This is not a problem as just outside you are on the board walk and can avail of lots of lovely restaurants to suit your taste and budget. stayed two nights and was really comfortable and relaxing.

We got a room on the ground floor (nothing wrong with the room, it was lovely) and it had no balcony. I would have liked a room upstairs with a balcony. When on holidays you like to have things that you do not have at home.

Very comfortable room and good service, also enjoyed the swimming pool and the close vicinity to shops and resuarants

This was an unusually noisy hotel. Bus tour guests moving around hotel from 6.30 A.m making noise with no respect for those trying to sleep. Had to complain to reception and request them to ask their guests to keep their voices down. Corridors are not carpeted so trolleys collecting luggage early in the morning made very loud noise making sleep impossible. Internet in room extremely slow and internet voucher system not working in the manner stated- ran out much earlier than 2 hours requiring regular return to reception to collect a new voucher. Complimentary car shuttle to nearby restaurants took too long to collect us going to and coming back. Smell of urine in bathroom. Having traveled to 56 countries this was one of the most disappointing value for money hotels I have stayed in.
