Protea Hotel North Wharf  

The staff were wonderful and went out of their way to help. The apartment- style rooms are absolutely superb and have everything you'd expect and more - washing machine, dishwasher etc. Breakfast - wow. Fill up for the day on cereals, yoghurt, berries, full cooked breakfast, pancakes, waffles, fruit, breads, cheese, crackers, meats and more! Nice rooftop pool which wasn't busy when we were there. Good location for v&a Waterfront and city centre.

The rooms were amazing. Great size with all the amenities you require. Staff were extremely helpful, the food was great.

It would be great if they had a proper spa, although they do offer spa servicess in your room. Initiially, I didn't like the fact that there was no view of the mountains or harbour, but I quickly got over it. The hotel is fab.

Very friendly staff, great breakfasts, very comfortable and spacious apartments, clean. There was easy and free internet access which was great.

The rooftop swimming pool was far too cold to dip into which was a real shame. Hotel is located slightly away from both v&a waterfront and Long St which meant a short taxi ride at night. Felt safe during the day to wander around though.

The staff on duty were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast prepared was great and presented very well. The self catering apartment was brilliant and felt like home away from home.

Excellent friendly staff,always willing to help. Very prompt service. Large comfortable rooms with fully equipped kitchen.Great central location for all Cape Town's attractions.

Washing machine complicated.

This turned out to be the ideal place to stay. Only 15 minute walk to the waterfront and there were plenty of restaurants there and we would get a taxi back. Room was beautiful and spacious and cleaned well every day. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were all helpful and pleasant at all times. Free parking underground was a bonus. Getting around by car was extremely easy. Quiet area with only 1 restaurant next door, but it was excellent. Would stay there again.

The location and overall service excelence

Excellent hotel, luxurious rooms and great breakfast.

Superb service from reception/porters. Really comfy beds. Good value for money in central cape town.

Breakfast staff not so efficient. Sofa's in rooms terribly uncomfortable. Lack of sunbeds at pool for hotel capacity.

Location is very nice for participating a congress in cticc. The location is also safe because there are many crime prevension units and patrols in these areas. The room was very clean and big with a kitchen, which would be suitable for a long stay or families. Breakfast was also very good. All staff were friendly and did well for us. I will choose this hotel again.

The staff at the Protea Hotel North Wharf are the best that I have ever encountered and I've been a Protocol Officer for 18 years. They went out of their way to make sure that every need was completed, followed up on all requests, and happily fulfilled unusual or time- consuming requests for my non-English speaking participants. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. The room was huge with plenty of space for the massive amount of convention material I bring. I was very appreciative of the free wi fi, the front porch/patio was so relaxing, and the breakfast was terrific. I only had two other meals at the hotel but they fixed it exactly to my liking. The location was perfect - a short walk to the wharf or to the city. At night, the area was very quiet.
