Protea Hotel OR Tambo Airport  

You should explain to guests the cost of transport, and how far away from the airport 200 Rands was a lot!

The staff were very friendly & helpful.

It is an OR Tambo Hotel & yet the shuttle service is not 24 hrs so we had to hire a car at an additional cost for 1 night to catch an early flight. The food is overpriced for what you get!

The staff at the front desk was superb; I gave the dinner experience two thumbs up (honey-glazed chicken thighs, on a bed of veggies). Thought the compact design was practical and suitable for an overnight stay. Thank you.

We were told to be downstairs for a 10:15 shuttle pick up to take us to ORT ... we ensured that we were downstairs by10:05. By 10:40, we were still waiting, and when we asked about the shuttle's arrival ... 'in five minutes ...', was the constant answer. However, this did not dampen our initial thoughts of the facility. Thank you.

Great Hotel great value for money this Hotel will see me again. Rooms are great beds sleep fantastic. We slept there after we returned overseas we could ask for better.

Friendly staff. Great outdoor area.

The theme

You charged me over r160-00 for a pot of tea and a scone. The aircon work works if and when. Two single beds for a couple sharing. It appears signs from Airport to hotel have gone missing.The theme is good but the cheap decor and construction material is ...............hilarious.

We arrived late and departed early as an overnight transit to Kruger National Park. Free Airport Transfer worked well, room was modern and comfortable, breakfast was great and the price was outstanding compared to the main airport hotel which was insanely priced. We will definitely be back to South Africa and if required will stay here again (in transit).

They never seemed to have change for whatever denomination note I used to buy a drink at the bar after we checked in.

The Hotel far exceeded expectations. Excellent staff, polite and attentive to service in both bar and restaurant. Delicous food which we did not expect. Helpful door man with bags and direction advice. I recommend as a very good hotel for Joburg airport

I found the public areas very drab and uninspiring. The restaurant was really very poor.

I've stayed at the Protea several times before and it has always been good. This time around, the Hotel had no Internet access for over two weeks, which is simply unacceptable.

The Design, cleanliness.

Hi, I must say the hotel is magnificent, the design, the rooms. I however must say that the last time I was in a Protea hotel was 10 yrs ago. The reason why so long ago is simply because of your television options. You do not give local channels(SA) any priority. This is what is happening:News: You have international news in cnn,sky,bbc. What about eNews channel?(403).Sports: you do not offer ss4 and Blitz(200). To me you don't prioritize us SAcans. If that's the case, I'm gonna spend another 10years before visiting a protea hotel. We had a show to attend at Emperors on Saturday and came back to the hotel late. We could not catch-up on sports results and highlights because you don't have SSBlitz, we could not catch-up on SA's round of news because you dont have eNews channel but you have everything from oversea. That to me shows us you taking us SAcans lousy. I complained about the same things in 2002 from a protea hotel in Durban South Coast but clearly nothing was done about it. I will never ever get into a protea hotel again in the next ten years and are already talking about about this issues on facebook and already many people are "gatvol" if I may...but I must say in terms of design, O.R. Tambo Protea hotel is one of the best designed hotels i've seen,but the whole thing became a bore because of what we had to endure in the room. And please do something about parking, come up with covered parking or something to match the hotel design. What you have now is totally Not "ayoba". If history is anything to go by, im not expecting any change anyway. I am just writing this for the sake of writing it. But im on a missing to explore more on Southern sun now. We'll see...
