눉To say the least I was ultimately disappointed in the overall service provided at the Protea O.R Tambo Hotel.
Let me walk you through my visit to give some perspective.
1) Despite the food being awesome, after providing my wife and I with drinks. I needed to chase down the waiter to give us straws, who then insisted he will bring them to us, who then forget. To later walk to the bar (on the other side of the restaurant) to get a couple of straws, we asked the bill to a different waiter. The original waiter returned, With No apology, he anxiously waiting on his Tip.
2) With the rugby (RSA vs Wales) being played on Super sport one on the Saturday, wife and I called (the evening of Arrival. Friday), not to mention that Western Province and bulls where playing. To ensure everything was up and running, We called reception to assist in getting the channel sorted, but a curt and abrupt response from the assistance made me feel like a bully stole my lunch money, to then drop the call in my wife’s ear, appalled and livid, we called back to only be told that we should wait about 5 Min to get the problem sorted, We then calmly called back 30 Min later to ask for progress, to be told to hold on for a further 5 Min, cause maintenance is working on it. It took an overall time span of about 1hr 15min to get up running. Which was half time between Wp and Bulls. *Sigh*
3) We received calls from maintenance and accused of smoking in the room (which we did not), not once but 5 times because of a faulty smoke alarm!!! (not acceptable) needless to mention that it became ridiculous after the 2nd time, we invited reception to send someone to investigate the problem, but guess what, No one pitched Up..
4) To add injury to insult (not that it’s important) the welcome Note which you would receive when entering the room was addressed to someone else.
So I feel quite disappointed after a paying a premium price to get less than average service.
눇It was truly a beautiful and exquisite views from the pool and hotel window. The décor blew my mind, but can it be justified with the poor service provided from waiters and staff.
