Very nice stay but too short. They could also have advised that upgrade was in progress and that worked started just after 7am. Not a major issue but would have been nice to now.

Very friendly and helpful staff especilly a waitress in the dining room at breakfast, called Thame, I think that's the right spelling. Her bright smile every morning made our day. If you string catgut across the pool and patio area's you could keep the big birds from landing on the tables and frightening and contaminating the guests. It works on pool and patio area's in Florida U.S.A. so it should work for you.

Great breakfast and outdoor relaxation around pool area. Good transport fascilities. Rooms are sizable and relatively comfortable. Your website says flat screen tv in rooms. We had a 32cm old box shape tv set. Some staff members are not friendly at all. The rooms needs to be modernised particularly bath and shower.

Its location at Sea Point means that you are away from the City Centre. Further from the beach that initially imagined. Unable to check-in on arrival. Pool area becomes very crowded and difficult to secure a beach bed. May criticism was noise made by chambermaids in the morning (room directly opposite staff service entrance. Followed by housekeeping wishing to clean our room on the day of departure by knocking at 8.30 am!!!

We loved the pool area. Restaurant, pool and housekeeping services need to be upgraded as do the public computers, which were a disgrace.

The overall standard of the Protea President was above average however I was slightly dissappointed that the room wasn;t ready a little earlier and the external appearance is spoiled by a lack of freshness; a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss! That said, the staff were mostly friendly and attentive apart from our last evening (Saturday 18th Feb) when the normally high level of service was well below par; we waited over an hour for our meal to be served! None of the above poiled our stay and we would probably return in the future but maybe not for a full week. Some minor observations above.

The location of this hotel at Sea Point is excellent with everything that Cape Town has to offer within easy striking distance (with a car). Our double room booking was upgraded to a suite which we were initially excited about. However, although clean, the rooms were very dated and the suite was at the furthest distance possible from the lifts which became a little annoying after 4 days or so. We had a look at the ordinary double rooms which were much better, so I would recommend not being too drawn in by the prospect of an upgrade if this is offered.

Location. the service was very very slow. No shower curtain, hence the floor became very wet. One was supplied eventually. Had to wait 25mins to get a drink in a bar with hardly any customers. Had to wait 1 hour for meal off a la carte menu. Had to wait 1 hour for shower gel which should have been supplied automatically. Then only arrived after 2nd call to reception. Neither the room nor the service was 4 star standard. Anyone choosing this hotel should ask for a room on 4th,5th or 6th floors as these have been refurbished.

We both thought the hotel was really lovely, location was great, views are stunning and people are very friendly. The hotel was very quiet which we both very much preferred and you didn't have to travel to fair to get to some popular places. We had a fantastic week staying at protea president!! Also the food was delicious!!!!!! We would most definitely stay again!! We think parking should be included with the hotel price. Or maybe when booking online there should be an option to pay online so it's abit cheaper for your customers.
