Score from 77 reviews Good
The friendly and efficient staff as well as the cleanliness of the hotel in general.
Some of the fittings were loose but not serious.
The hotel staff are always friendly and helpful, and we always enjoy our stay. Good location, easy to recommend to anyone coming to CT.
During the Christmas new year season it gets rather busy, and the pool area can become a bit crowded.
At front desk unhelpful incompetent New waiters untrained Service dropped
That the staff are so friendly and will have a chat.
Virtually everything---loved the location, the hotel and very helpful staff
electricity---load sharing--poor preparation by management for these occurrences--not able to serve food or even coffee,no lighting ! Candles supplied were totally inadequate. Ants +++ in room despite spraying. Bathroom and fridge doors need repair and maintenance
Poor pedestrian access
I have used this venue previously and on each ocassion it keeps getting better. However the front desk staff still need more training in people skills. I have commented on this before and it seems that this has gone unchecked again. The room was splendid, spacious and comfortable. The glass enclosure in the shower is not very adequate and should be addressed. It is not pleasant walking out onto a wet bathroom floor.
The reception staff are not people friendly and the management should engage in training the front desk staff to be as pleasant as the morning breakfast team. The glass enclosure in the shower is inadequate and is in dire need of renewal. Water on the bathroom floor is most unpleasant
Nothing, everything below standard
Old tv, hard uncomfortable bed, breakfast very far from hotel and poor, no muffins
Very clean hotel
Wi-Fi quality very poor
Ideally located opposite the Queens beach in close proximity to Camps Bay (where all the hustle-bustle is). Beautiful view of the beach. Very well maintained property The staff were very friendly and helpful (especially William at the Front Desk)
The bed mattress is soft and can give you a back ache
No air-conditioning for 3 days. Room was like a sauna. Fridge was battered and bruised like one you would find on a scrapheap. Have photos to prove it. Bathroom door handle was ripped from the door and hanging by a screw. The floor was so dirty that you feet was black after 5 minutes walking bear feet. Had to request body wash two days in a row after using the first night's one. I've been staying at Protea Hotels for the last 24 years and this was a shocking revelation. To pay r11,000.00 For a 4 night stay of this standard is unacceptable. The President Hotel can gain some valuable insight how a hotel should be run by visiting the Sea Point Protea. You can check you records, I spend +- r80,000 a year at your hotels on my business trips and think that you should take cognisance of this disgruntlement as some acquainted business associates feel likewise. As a businessman I feel totally ripped- off and instructed my staff not to make any further bookings at Protea Hotels. Never again. I wonder if I will get a response, lets see.
Comfortable accommodation.Good gym facility. The staff we dealt with always cheerful and obliging.Amazing breakfasts!Value for money.
In 7 days, our room was not even "surface cleaned".A room service tray remained outside our neighbour's door for more than 3 days.
As one of the older hotels in the Sea Point area, I was pleasantly surprised by the tasteful mixture of old world elegance with the modern comforts that goes along with their 4 star rating.
All staff from the front desk, to reservations and waiters in the breakfast dining area require in depth customer relations management training. One of the ill's of our South African society post apartheid is that workers in the hospitality industry still tend to subtly but definitely noticeably treat black clients differently than their white counterparts. The first occurrence was when I called the hotel to confirm our booking. The female at the reservations desk was not helpful and did not return any calls providing updates. I in turn called on two occasions requesting feedback. I even went as far as emailing the booking.com confirmation to the res4 email address to make finding our reservation easier for the employee. But alas no reply was received. On my second call I was told that our booking could not be found. I am therefore hesitant to make use of Booking.com in future if there is such gross disparity between the website and the establishments booking software. The second mistreatment was at the breakfast buffet. Waiters would promptly serve white guests with beverages whereas we had to call two different waiters to serve us. Who then still got our hot beverage order incorrect. Despite our room key card being on the table our cups we were still making use of was removed while we went to the buffet table. Also to find waiters showing a family to our table which had the key card visibly displayed on it. Not the honeymoon experience we were expecting. We will definitely not be visiting the Protea Hotel President again.
liked location liked breakfasts liked buffer supper liked spacious rooms liked pool area
diningroom staff not too attentive
Great location and good support services.
Spacious airy room Helpful friendly staff
Corridor carpets needed cleaning or replacing
The gym is open for 24 hours
The airconditioners makes the gym to be very noisy.
the room was comfortable , the bed just the way i like it for the business traveler it had and met all my requirements. the breakfast was excellent, the pastries to die for and the service cannot be faulted all in all the hotel was great and i would recommend it to any traveler business or leisure
Friendly staff Good Location Good Tourism & Travel Desk Information Clean and Confortable rooms We speciall thank to Duty Manager William for all his help!!
The location was ideal, reception staff very helpful. Hotel was clean and comfortable.
The lady at the help desk for tours etc was not very helpful. She seems to concentrate mainly on tours for flight staff you use the hotel. On the one morning when we managed to see her, we asked about table mountain and if it was an ideal day. She said it was a perfect day to view CT frm the mountain, however when we got there it was clouded over.
Too basic to be categorised in 4 star category. We were allotted a room on 6th floor where the external glazings did not have good acoustic closure resulting in too much of noise from sea gulls!
The location (proximity to the beach) was the only good part.
1) The corridors were smelly. 2) The carpet in the corridor was worn out. 3) In the room, the carpet and linen had spots and was very worn out. 4) AC had an issue which we had to get fixed at the cost of our precious holiday time. 5) At check-in the staff was not polite at all. 6) House-keeping staff never replaced toiletries on their own, we had to ask for it every time. 7) Not all lamp bulbs were working and another one stopped working during our stay.
Comfort of the spacious room as well as the view of the ocean
The late admittance to the room.
