Protea Hotel President    

I booked online with my husbands credit card, and paid the rate that was online. When I got there, they said I had to pay in almost double, as these were not their rates. It took 4 hours of me standing in reception trying to sort this out. They don't seem aware that are even on a booking website? They could not comprehend it, even with my printout. It was a disgrace, and even on leaving they said I owed them for accommodation when it had all been sorted when I checked in. The office staff have no clue what is happening

Excellent service! For a vegan and vegetarian we were well catered for. Very comfortable stay!

The staff at the front desk are not good messages are not given.they don't seem to trust you even if you have stayed at the place five times.

The rooms were lovely and spacious. Hotel was clean and service was fair. It could have definitely been better. Pool was lovely and so was the view.

Staff at breakfast found it very difficult to put 2 tables together for our family of 6. They wanted us to split up. Pool area wasn't kept tidy through the day. Used towels, glasses and general litter from other guests. Pool area was a little noisy at night but it seemed to settle before it was TOO late.

Staff were not accommodating. Room smelt of smoke and we did tell them. Did not have towels and kept on having to ask

The service was poor and incredibly disappointing. When issues were raised the management was almost as dismissive as the staff themselves. Won't be staying there again on our return trips

Location, pool, public areas were good. Transport desk got hotel taxi for us. one way to Camps Bay was R100. Breakfast choice was good, except for running out of things and not replacing. Nice room with air con.

The rooms are nice, but the corridors are terrible, and certainly in need of refurbishment. The restaurant and pool staff are not properly trained, nor customer focused. The breakfast buffet was not replenished, and only one cook was on duty for eggs etc. Pool food order was wrong and then we were told to eat it anyway as the kitchen was busy! Checkout at receptions was a joke, only one person on duty. The manager did not care, but gave a bland response. I suggest they train their staff and their managers better. Bad luck to be at the hotel when they had a conference. Will not return.

The new bathrooms are far to small for comfort.

The proximity to the beach, Water Front, restaurants and shops. The hotel has all the amenities one needs.

The facilities were good and hotel looked nice. Modern. Swimming pool and sunbathing options were great.

I would not recommend to stay there - staff was rude and nobody cared that you are guests. In the room, there was only one electric socket, minibar was empty and even glasses you had to order from the room service. Cleaning lady did not clean the glasses, only made up the beds. Travel desk worked only when somebody was there, which was usually 30 min in the morning. Overall, it was a bad experience, although Cape Town has a lot to offer.

Nice rooms, good breakfast. Dinner was very good, even though there was not a lot to choose from. The location is very good as well, about a 5 minutes walk from the coast/beach in a safe area & the tourist hop on/hop off bus has a stop outside the hotel. Very convenient!

Household staff was quite noisy on Sunday morning, not ideal. Check out at 11am, instead of 12am. But me checking out at 11.30 was no problem ;)

Reception staff was very friendly. Our room was very neat and tidy and looked very modern. Breakfast was also very nice

The travel desk operator, Guus, was extremely rude and abrupt. She gave the impression that because we are South Africans and not foreigners that she was not interested in helping us. Breakfast staff could be more attentive when offering coffee and clearing dirty plates etc.

How can the hotel insist to pay for room service and be distrurbed at 03:00 in the morning requesting to pay for room service order for dinner while we left a credit card details for extras

the atmosphere. the rooms were stunning especially the view of the pool and sea. the only thing maybe you can improve on is a Jacuzzi.... I loved the stay, didnt feel like leaving
