Convenience of location inside Security
No windows, no bar
The staff was very nice and kind room was beautiful and bed very comfortable
The heater was not working the room was freezing, food was terrible phone was not working properly.
It's location within the airport
At the time of arrival, my booking with booking.com was not yet captured by the hotel's computers despite getting a confirmation letter. It made me a bit uncomfortable. The staff told me that the booking from booking.com can be late by even two days. This should be addressed.
It is easy if you arrive late at night and you have a connecting flight the next day.
I consider U$ 192 a bit too much for a room which in any other place in Johannesburg should do not more than U$ 120. The fact that the electronic card did not work, so we had to move to another room where there were initially no towels was no good.
Convenience Being in-transit Quiet
A bit spartan( good if your one of the 300)?
Excellent location, beautiful room, great price. Worth every penny to take a shower, catch up on emails and take a nap on layover.
Internet took a few tries to make work, but it did eventually.
Exceeded my expectations. Really comfortable, perfect for long layovers.
No drinking water available in the room. When i asked at the reception , the employee just told me : "No , we don't have drinking water, but you can drink from the bathroom" .... not comment...
Made our transfer pleasant and the start of our holiday pleasant making traveling easy.
1)Access from 2 floors was not clearly indicated as to the location of the reception desk which was only manned one the lower floor! 2)Lack of provision of catering!
The fact that now the price is half of what it was in January/february 2014
They do not accept the prices reserved by booking.com, even if the client has the reservation at hand, i was charged at least 30-50$ more than the reservation price. They always have a higher room price estimate They state that they are not in agreement with booking.com reservations and all reserrvations are to be made through the hotel reception.
Stayed in 4 months ago and was charged 500USD for 2 nights, stayed two nights this time around and paid around 270$ who wouldn't have loved that.
Conflict between booking.com and Protea's prices, their prices are always much higher than confirmed reservation prices, i stuck to my guns as i had the confirmation at hand and paid the reservation price.
Though booked a superior room was only offered a standard room. Upon complaining, offered a superior room with two twins though we wanted a king bed as per booking. It was highly inconvenient since was travelling with two chidlren.
No hair dryer despite a specific request Price initially charged was higher than when made the booking online No staff at checkin desk
Rooms are well designed. The M floor is quiter that the Floor 3. The staffs are very pleasant.
Last time, the shower water did not flow well so the room became flooded. But the issue was reported to the reception staff.
When we discover that the extractor fan of the room we have been booked was out of order the staff have been very cooperative to move us to another room.
We could not have breakfast because of the fatty content thereof.
Somewhat dirty linens on the bed. No access to a soft drink without leaving the hotel.
I booked and paid online using a credit card, and yet was asked to pay on departure which looking at other reviews seems to be a common thread. I also sent a couple of emails requesting a special condition (7hour day stay) and did not receive 1 reply. Disappointing!
Great location. The transit concept it good and convenient.
Too expensive compared other hotels a outside the airport. No restaurant/dining/bar. To dring a bottle of water, you gave to go out of the hotel!
Staff very desorganize
We could not even get to this hotel and it was not very clear that if we came in from a domestic flight and had to retrieve our luggage we would be unable to access our accommodation. We paid the whole amount because they charged us anyway as well as paid for a night at another hotel since we had to sleep somewhere.
Quite a lot of noise during the night like furniture being moved around.
This is the third time I stay in this hotel , i am still trying to understand the price charged per night...250$ is just brain crushing...unbelievably expensive.
Nothing worked, first night sink did not work, drainage was totally messed up, day 2 the wifi did not work, to top it all they connected me to the it guy in the evening and tried to charge this telephone bill the morning after...the gods must be crazy.Unfortunately it is the only hotel situated in the transit airport...2 days for 500$ USD with sleep only no breakfast, no extra service...will never get into my skull...i surrender,,,i just dont get what the charges are for....
Convenient behind airport security for in-transit customers. Shower was pretty cool. Bed was soft and comfortable. Nothing special, nice little convenient room.
No amenities. No restaurant, no pub. No windows in some rooms.
Very comfortabel bed
This is not a hotel. It is a dormitary. No facilities other than the room which is a concrete box in the dungeons of the airpprt. Reception staff were just terrible. I would not recommend this as a place to stay unless you only have a transit visa. Otherwise it is well worth while to go through the hassle of immigration to stay in a real hotel outside the airport.
