rooms where fantastic, lovely view, love the closeness to all the shopping stores .

The staff at the reception they take way toooo long to assist. I really don't think they have the skills.

Cold reception at check-in. Hotel must invest in some training in acceptable customer service. Horrible smell on the corridor of the 4th floor by the lifts, especially at night.

Cooldrinks at R21.50?? Parking at R55?? Palace prices without the experience.....Average service.... Filthy under the bed... No bath.... Swimming pool much to be desired... Have to go out every time to smoke....

Nice, safe area, big shopping center nearby. Not far from the ocean although I wouldn't recommend walking. Open swimming pool on the roof.

We took two rooms, one was ok, the other has distinct bleach stench. Rooms could be a bit more cleaner. Problems with WiFi reception in the room. WiFi has the limitation of one device per room with rather low transfer limit.

It had an iron and board ( although the board was dirty) good aircon menu is very old fashioned for a hotel in this area, however chicken wing starter in restaurant was good quality, but sadly that was the only thing I would try to be safe.

The second floor has a sign that states the floor is for non-smoking rooms. On exiting the lift the odour of nicotine is apparant. The room I was given stank of smoke. Even the bellhop agreed. The second room I was given was also smelling of smoke...but this one had a bottle of water( the other did not) the towels stank of nicotine and smoke and so did the pillows. The floors were not very clean or had not met a good mop with proper detergent in a while. No bathroom slippers, no face cloth...the competition has like the Garden Court where I usually stay. There was some splashes on the bed base that looked like semon which I only saw on the day of departure. The noise from the road is very loud even with the windows closed. On saturday the 9 Feb 2013 I woke early and took a breakfast ride on my motorcycle to Ballito as breakfast was not incl in my rate at r2000 for the weekend...shocking. On return housekeeping had already been and gone. Suffice to say it was a pathetic attemp at house keeping floors not swept or mopped, pillow cases missing, no towels. Bed was just tidied not remade. Dead bee on the bathroom floor. No turn down. Maintenance in rooms poor. I was in room 225 restaurant drinks over priced management need to seriously at the details as this is what makes a great hotel. But then one thinks whether they actually have the knowledge and experience to do it as it would have not been writing this review.

All Staff very Friendly, a Special Pat on the Back........ To Moses your Security Guard, could not say Good-Bye on my Last Day...... He was very concerned about my safety, when i wanted to do a trip to North Beach, and informed me he had gone off Duty and we were not Back yet................. Had this Welcome Board Smile when he saw us the following Morning........ Well Done "Moses" and Good Boy too............ your Porter

Big spacious rooms, excellent location

Room service staff did not know their menu and wines at all. It was very frustrating

The location of the Hotel is very convinient for shopping at the Gateway.The staff have a proffessional approach from the time of telephone inquiry right up to arrival at reception whereby all clients are just treated as royalty. Keep it ip!!!!!!!

The rain spoilt my stay - hey but you cannot control the weather now - can you?? Absolutely nothing to complain about !!!

I am well satisfied with your hotel and the service from all your staff was exemplary.

The service from all staff members was the best I have ever experienced in the country, I felt so comfortable and I was able to approach the staff memebers with the most amount of ease, it won't be the last time I return there.

Can't think of anything, oh except the don't have a cock screw in the rooms..

Convenience and the look and feel

I had a problem when I checked in at 9pm the room I was taking to 215 was not clean, bed not made properly and dirty towels on the floor. I was moved to room 208 it did leave a bit of a bitter taste

near gateway. easy access to shopping centre.

no sea views. hotel does not have halal / kosher / vegetarian breakfast.

Very nice people. Great location right next to shoppping mall and restaurants.

Nothing its the worst Protea out of the other 2 I have stayed in: Wanderer's being by Far the beet, or tambo being little better. The front desk wouldnt answer, and was of no use in assisting me with internet log in. The best is that this hotel actually expected me to make my own bed as the maid had gone home and I had inadvertedly had the 'dont disturb' sign up. I would seriously stay away from protea- I told the duty manager this much: It not a hotel definitely not part of protea standards. James

Location, Location.

Having to pay for Parking.

Staff at reception consistantly unable to process reguests! Frustarting and annoying. Its the last time I stay there.
