Room comfortable. Air con good. Parking excellent but should be included in this up-market price.

Staff efficient but impersonal. An easy chair would make it more comfortable

The fact that on check out, i was proactively offered a refund on the breakfast that i had paid for but not taken. Haven't received the refund yet, but the principle is good.

The decor in foyer and dining area. (being 4 star I somehow expected more, but it's a matter of personal taste) Difficulty of getting luggage up stairs at entrance - should have a ramp (unless i missed it).

Protea was modern and a very nice place to say. I would definitely recommend it. One note: when going out for the night to a place called Cubana 2 blocks down, security is required to be with you. Sketchy area at night but the staff definitely took care of the deal and also gave us personal cell phone numbers to call them once we were ready to head back.

The hotel is very central, close to bars, places to eat and walking distance to the center (20 mins). The room I was given was nice with a balcony and view of Cape Town stadium. Quite a modern feel to the hotel.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel, having stayed in many places in Cape Town. I think the hotel has the potential to be very good but I found the staff particularly unfriendly. No one says hello or good morning. The most friendliest member of staff was Garreth on the reception who allocated a nice room for the duration of my stay. I think that they can also pay a bit more attention to detail: i.e. serving condiments with room service, staff uniform being presented more neatly, general courtesy. I ordered a bucket of ice and it took three follow up calls and two hours to arrive. Not good. No fridge in the room, which would be useful as its a warm place. Wireless is very poor reception in the room, had to sit in the bathroom to use it. Only one lift in use, still according to reading past reviews. Come on just focus on those finer details and I think this hotel could be really excellent!

Good quality rooms, comfortable and quiet.

I thought that I had paid for bed and breakfast but it was bed only. It turned out to be more expensive than I thought.

The lofts are excellent especially if you are traveling with friends or family. Hotel is also conveniently located close to attractions.

Gym - small but well maintained and all new equipment, outdoor poor and sun terrace, pleasant staff, cheap secure parking, good sized rooms.

My only negative thing was the wifi was slightly tortuous - free 50MB per day but complicated method of joining required with every log on. Also, no fridge in the room.

The location is good although there are many other hotels nearby, at even better location which is much better value for money.

The staff were really unfriendly and treated guests with animosity. The bathroom sink had a huge chip and the sandblasted glass and wooden wall were full of dirty stains which can easily be cleaned. My room was right next to some cleaning room or something similar and I could hear doors slam every other minute from what I presume was from there. It continued for about an hour and a half until finally it subsided. There's also no free wifi which I think is preposterous in this day and age. Protea hotels standards are really not up to par generally and this one definitely was no exception.

Location and parking facilities were good.

Attention for details was lacking: No storage possibilities for clothes, toiletries (shampoo and body wash) was not refilled.

The room key not working on two different occasions & having to go to reception to get it fixed My luggage not being ready in my room after I checked in Unapologetic/flippant reception girls when getting my room key fixed & sorting out luggage (the guys were more helpful/responsive) Daily wifi limit

I really enjoyed my stay, the room I shared with another woman was perfectly clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful from breakfast to room service and recommanding best restaurants and transports. They also arranged immediately for an error on my charges. I really felt at home and would recommand it.

    There's nothing I don't like.

The room allocated was practical and comfortable and looks to have been completely refurbished since we last stayed. The bathroom offers a very user-friendly layout, very well designed!

The room allocated was a smoking room on a smoking floor - we were not asked our preference on this, and the passage reeked of smoke ... We were dissappointed that no fridge was provided in the room.

Though it is not the responsibility of the staff, I had to change to another bedroom because our neighbours could not be silenced in their extreme noisy behaviour by 11:30 pm! In the new room, we found a foul smell originating from the sink in the kitchenette, which I managed to resolve for the night..
