Set in the heart of Clarens, a village at the foot of the Maleti Mountains, this guesthouse is great for exploring South Africa’s Free State province.

Built in Neo-Colonial style, Red Mountain House features 8 comfortably furnished guest units. Relax in front of the fireplace in your seating area or take in magnificent views from the comfort of your balcony. Persian carpets, four-poster beds and turn-of-the-century antiques complement each of the rooms.

Magda Johannesburg, South Africa 5	Overlooked the fact that only "children over 12 are welcome" while booking, but they were quite nice about us having a baby in the room. Bathroom is spotless with good heater. Perfect location in center of town. Breakfast limited to certain things (eg. Cappuccino costs extra); we ate elsewhere anyway. Anonymous Netherlands 5	Comfortable room, very good location. Friendly person at the reception. I saw on the booking.com site that there were earlier complaints about the breakfast arrangement, but we were happy with the arrangement to walk 100 meters to a nearby restaurant and had a nice breakfast there. Well prepared fire place which we used. No staff present when you arrive after 5 pm. However, we were informed of this in advance and there was a letter with instructions etc. waiting for us, so we could let ourselves into the rooms we booked. The cooked traditional breakfast was way to small and didn't compliment the rest if the stay experience. It was like an after thought. All that was needed was a bit more on the plate!
