The setting of the hotel is beautiful surrounded by an abundance of bird life and beautiful gardens. The spa offers value for money services and has excellent and friendly staff.
Unfortunately the majority of what we experienced was unpleasant. To start our room was not what we had booked, the rooms and hotel common areas are poorly maintained, the kiddies 'play' room has nothing in it. Most apparent though was the lack of any managerial presence - all our complaints (of which there were many) were dealt with by a young man who although helpful was clearly not the person in charge.
Warm and friendly staff, always happy to help. Very private and breathtaking location for couples and families. Will definitely be back!
The fact that my booking was not on the system but was immediately sorted out.
Everything : poor service, unfriendly staff, disgusting food. Website is all a lie. This place hasn't seen paint or any renovations in years. The simplest thing to correct , change light bulbs that have fused. Had to ask a million times for towels. Room was cleaned but dirty glasses left behind. Buffet was a joke . Charged R185 pp with food that was certain not worth that. Staff are very unhelpful. Manager didn't even exist, only saw him when another guest had a meeting with him to complain. By then I was just so happy to leave. Not worth the money paid. Booking.com should never be associated with a place like this. Very very disappointing. Spoilt my holiday.
The bed size was good in the superior room.
Our room was not available due to over-booking. The food was of inferiour quality. We had no towels or soap in our room. We booked and payed for 3 days but left after the 1st day.
TV reception poor
I liked the honeymoon suites,it was stunning and peacefull..fabulous for a couple aswell as familys.good views.
Thers a few like the keys need to be upgraded and modenized, certain things look ancient some revamping would be excellent.
Having young kids, the freedom of seeing animals was awesome. The staff were very friendly especially the bar and restaurant staff.
Was not impressed with the quality of the cleaning in the rooms and the ironing services. More security needs to be employed for patrols in the evenings.
Beautiful garden Old building Clean facilities Security Good food
Parking far from room Water leak in bathroom Aged interior of room
Very quiet and peaceful. Units were well presented.
Golf course not looking great. Needs a bit more vibe...almost too quiet!
The food was excellent
The fact that your fridge in the room is not filled with water everyday only on my first night. the noise of the activities to maintain the garden area was bad Rooms cleaned very late
Everything from setting to ambience to comfort
The place hasn't improved in the past 10 or so years and it still looks the same as when I had my anniversary in 2000. It needs to be modernised now especially keys etc which are still old school and not technologically advanced
Golf was great Food was good General service - good
No ironing facilities in room Burnt out light bulbs Falling curtains - no pride upkeep of room
Staff was VERY helpful. Especially Jessie. Gorgous building and great food.
The smell of damp everywhere, especially the room. Paint coming off places...
I liked my room facing the golf course and the gorgeous gardens. The hotel reminded me if mount grace in the magalies berg area. The food was very tasty.
The service in the restaurant and bar needs to be jacked up. There wasn't any one at the breakfast area when you wanted. Took them for ever to make me a drink. I asked for a cocktail and no one knew how to make one.
The service was slow or non existent. We had to "beg" for clean towels every night. They were never replaced without asking. The dining room service was really bad. A server\waiter, if available, took a long time to attend to us, or took our drinks order & never appeared again. The meals were not good at all. Quite bland. The booking.com website, mentions Wi-Fi & a fire place in the room. Both were no present. Wi-Fi in the public areas never worked. Lots of renovation is needed on the property. Apparantly the hotel was in the process of being taken over by new management, so this could explain the poor service.
Friendly staff, Lavine worked an extra shift to take me fishing! The beach club facility is unique and a great feature. The big pool and new aircon in rooms were life-savers. Live dinner piano by Esme is special. Barry the GM made us feel at home. The food was excellent! Great golf course.
Housekeeping a bit slow... Shortage of bath towels?
Near the beach
Day 1: No towels, could not shower, did not get any towels till the morning of day 2. On day 2 by the afternoon at 5 pm, came from beach, no towels. Staff could not help me. Phoned the manager and gave him an earful. Got towels by 9pm. Water pipe burst at around the same time. No water till past 12 the next morning, again no shower. Breakfast the same morning, kitchen runs out of provisions. Certain items not available for breakfast. Also cockroaches in the bathroom. I believe poor management has to be fixed at this hotel.
The kiddies pool is great along with the golf and tennis facilities
The rooms were filthy and dated, I ended up cleaning the room myself. The cleaners just do the bare minimum when cleaning your room. The main pool is filthy, breakfast is average. For the money spent I don't think it was great value.
