A luxious and clean hotel with nice views over the Knysna lagoon. The hostess is very kind and helpfull. The centre (waterfront) is a 5min drive where you'll find the restaurants. Great beds and good breakfast. Book a room on the second floor for the views.

Small boutique hotel with the most sympathic owners and staff. The place and the people looked and performed as they started this lovely place just right now. Everything was perfect and highlighted our stay.

Knysna itself has changed. We remember it as a small town with lovely places. It is now a must stop for tour operators of mostly elder German tourists. Not this boutique hotel luckily.

Super-smart B&B. Lovely comfortable room with balcony and fantastic view. Wonderful breakfast service. Extremely helpful hosts. Beautiful area with lots to see. Strongly recommend South Villa.

Everything. Perfect location, perfect hosts. 10 out of 10. Breakfast on our own balcony every morning. It could not have been better. I have been to South Africa 14 times. This was definitely the best guest house!!!

The staff were lovely, attentive and helpful - even recommended two great restaurants to us, which we followed in both instances. The rooms were beautiful with a balcony and a great view across the lagoon. We were served breakfast on our balcony which was a really nice touch. Overall a lot of attention to detail: There was a DVD player in the room and a selection of DVD s to choose from in the common area, and even fresh milk in the fridge - much appreciated by two British tea drinkers! It is a really quiet, very clean place - might not be for everybody but we really loved it, hard to fault!

Everything about South Villa was fantastic , the accommodation was awesome , the view was amazing , the staff were fantastic , very friendly , professional and helpful. The facilities were very good , everything was immaculately clean and tidy. All in all a fantastic place ,worth every cent spent , we will definatly be going back.

On arrival at South Villa we were greeted warmly by our hosts and no effort was spared to make us feel very welcome and comfortable. Miranda guided us around the guest house and our room explaining to us the facilities and offering us local tips. The house and our room were immaculate and decorated with great style and thought. The room was extremely comfortable and well equipped and despite our room having coffee and tea making facilities, Miranda brought us a tray of coffee and tea whilst we unpacked and made ourselves at home. The bathroom was spaciuos, immaculately decorated and well equipped. Breakfast was chosen the night before by way of a menu in the room and could be taken in the dining room with great views or on your own balcony. We chose to have ours on our balcony and it was served precisely at the time we had requested by charming and polite maids. The balcony too had lovely views and was filled with birdsong. Little touches such as a chocolate on our pillows gave us the feel of being in a quality hotel. That said I think it is important to mention that I travel for a living and spend a lot of my life in hotels and I can honestly say that my experience at South Villa surpassed the experience I have had at virtually all the 4/5* hotels I have stayed at. We will certainly be visiting again.

It is perfect!!!!

The architecture of the house, view of the lagoon and the lovely neighborhood. The beds were comfortable, the room cleaned every day and the shower was fantastic.

The noise of the traffic on a nearby street made it difficult to enjoy the balcony. Also, I felt the place was a little sterile- maybe more artwork, a bight tablecloth or flowers/plants. The menu you had to "check in the boxes" for your breakfast the night before, just added to the feeling of sterileness, and that there wasn't an abundance of food.

The view was great. The rooms were large and in perfect condition. And the breakfasts were personalized and made missing lunch an option.

Attention to detail from the lovely soft bath towels to being able to have your breakfast on your private terrace.It is easy to walk into town and Knysner is a lovely town with loads to see in the surrounding areas Would highly recommend this guest house as the family make you feel very welcome

Small little touches like beach towels are supplied and electric blankets.

No air-conditioning and no DSTV and the owner not handling criticism very well.
