Everything, absolutely perfect, 2 lovely young women Tessa & Danica managing reception, great welcome, great attention to detail, comfort & fabulous breakfast, close to city centre, but incredibly peaceful setting. Will certainly stay again and can recommend highly.
Nicely furnished room (we stayed in room no 1), very friendly staff, nice breakfast
We loved the place the moment we drove through the gates!! Garden is beautiful and neat! Nice trees and pool!! Room was very comfortable and spacious!! Lots of treats all over!! Enough plugs and mirrors for all your needs!! Can't wait for the next stay!!
Parking is a bit tight! Wi- fi poor!!
Danica was a wonderful hostess making sure all our needs were met. We loved the decor, the special touches and delicious healthy breakfast served in the gorgeous dining-room. Our room was spacious and comfortable and had everything we could possibly need including a lovely soft pillow!
We had a downstairs room which meant we had a lovely courtyard to ourselves but we were right next the diningroom so could not really sleep in as the setting up noise could be heard even if they were trying to be quiet.
- look and feel - Spacious and Comfortable rooms - Great breakfasts - Lovely staff - Beautiful gardens and scenery - More than what is expected at a B&B
Absolutely no complaints
Lovely guesthouse with very friendly staff. The location is excellent, only15min from towncentre. The rooms are decorated very tastefully. I would definitely stay here again.
Nothing! This place is perfect!!
I loved the modern contemporary guest house with delightfully friendly staff! From the front office ladies who always gave excellent recommendations on dining to the kitchen staff that were always jovial and helpful!
The lovely relaxed atmosphere of the house, very calm. Also the little details, like bottles of filtered water available around the grounds and fresh coffee and decanters of sherry in the rooms.
The slightly tedious walk into town, but yet too close to justify driving. Only a little thing though in an otherwise super guesthouse.
Everything was just perfect during our 2 x night stay...
Lovely spacious rooms (ask for the terrace room or nr 8 upstairs ) with very nice -sturdy- beds. Very warm welcome, good amenities and beautiful building. Good shower and good size bath! Nice breakfast as well. Happily situated on the outskirts of the village. Personnel is incredibly kind and helpful.
On quite a busy road and old building, so upstairs you will hear cars pass by and sounds of other people scurrying about. We did not mind, but might ask for another room next time. Also: dogs barking down the road. But earplugs work. The stay is worth it!
The staff were very welcoming and the property was attractive and clean. Our upstairs room was tastefully decorated, quiet and warm (it was winter) and breakfast the next morning was more than adequate. We were also given a suggested tourist walk route around town. Unfortunately, we didn't have sufficient time so did a quick drive by, then off to the airport. Stellenbosch is definitely somewhere that you could spend more time and we would stay at Summerwood if we came this way again.
What a delightfully beautiful and classy establishment. The house is charming and beautifully decorated, with every comfort possible for a bed & breakfast. Highly recommended!!
The wifi weak and intermittent, which was difficult from a business point of view.
The entire human entourage, from managing staff to gardener
When you sleep at ground level in room 1, the upstairs guests can be noisy walking around in the middle of the night... But I would still opt for room 1 nevertheless
The staff and owner were extremely helpful and friendly. Free bottles of water and coffee and cake in the guest lounge were an unexpected bonus.
The honesty bar
The barking dog which kept me awake for a large part of the night. It belonged to a neighbour so not the B&B fault - even so....
- Breakfast buffet, all fresh & homemade - nice, stylish rooms - not the 0815 guesthouse
It looked lovely ..... but.....
I was extremely disappointed as I called in advance to ensure the property was in the town centre and within strolling distance as I had 2 young children and we were only in Stellenbosch for 1 night. Secondly, I also asked that the children be in a room next to ours. I was informed this would not be possible BUT that they would be on the same floor - this was also confirmed to me by email. I arrived to a property at least 25 minutes walk from town and our children were on the ground floor and we were on the 1st. So the 2 most important things were not as promised- i was so disappointed that we decided not to stay there. Such a pity to do this when it was meant to be a special occasion.
The entire house is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The garden and pool a perfect spot to relax after a days sightseeing. Staff were very helpful and made dinner reservations for us locally. Best breakfast of our trip.
Easy acess to Stellenbosch town and region.
Parking became tight when all residents were in for the evening, the road was busy in the morning which was disturbing.
Excellent room and facilities. A distance from shops and restaurants was more than made up by the position on the beautiful Leisure Isle. Taxi services provided to restaurants.
We liked the house/room/ pool and breakfasts very much Very friendly staff, good location All in all a very nice guest house
Nothing to dislike
It is very hard to see how Summerwood could be improved, as a family-run guest-house it sets the bar extremely high. Spacious room, relaxing atmosphere, friendly and helpful hosts, lovely garden with comfortable recliners and sun and shade in equal measure plus a decent size swimming pool, superb breakfast and an excellent location in a quiet part of pretty Stellenbosch - what more could you ask?
Nice small hotel, in very nice surroundings, but a bit far from down town Stellenbosch Excellent buffet for breakfast
Probably we had the smallest and darkest room, which we did not like. The other rooms provided more space and more light
Great setting, warm and friendly owners who looked after us. Beautifully decorated and we had a great time relaxing on the grass besides the pool. We had everything that we needed in the room.
There was nothing that I didn't like.
