Score from 14 reviews Very good
The staff, facility, and beds were great. Can't wait to stay again!
Clean and confortable rooms. Beautiful house very well located. Great bar and common areas. Very easy to meet other travellers. The front desk works pretty good, there are many activities to choose. The staff in general is pretty nice.
The price in the hostel and the bar is a bit high in my opinion even that services are very good. WiFi works better in the common areas than in the rooms
close to the road, too noisy, can't sleep well.
The rooms were big and no bunks. The bar area with free wifi made it as great social meeting place. Helpful staff.
No system for early check out so no room deposit returned!! Then a tip was needed for the security guards so I said take the room deposit the guard seemed to think it would not be possible. The bathroom in our room was dated and the door didn't close.
For the price you would expect breakfast to be included.
Good location. Dorms without bunk beds are nice.
There are better options of less money. Limited bathrooms and only one near the room.
The atmosphere was amazing - always friendly and upbeat. The staff were so lovely and helpful and took extra care in making our stay a great one through little things like the board recommending where to eat - we went to most of the places and the food was delicious. The room was exceptionally clean and comfy, would love to stay again!
The wifi didn't stretch to the rooms but it was hardly a huge issue! Can barely fault the place.
Good bar and cafe Free wifi Comfy beds
Amazing staff - all are very friendly and helpful. Excellent location - very close to Long Street and there are some great restaurants close by. Definitely would recommend - me and a friend stayed in 2 private rooms and had a great stay in Cape Town.
You can only use wifi in the bar/reception area which is a tiny bit restricting but does mean you meet lots of people in the bar.
Bar man is a bit clueless - had no idea what sherry was???! Why do you use foreigners to man your reception?
Atmosphere of place. It has lots of open space (indoor/outdoor) for guest. You can get clean towers any time you need, if u dont mind whether it is left over from othet gueats.
It wasnt worth of money they charge. i had to change the room three times(price was close to a hotel price nearby!) but the facility was not even close to other hostels where charge less than half. NOT enough shower/toilet at all, you might have wait hours to get in. So plan enough time ahead if you have booked trip for shower. No access to the rooftop, means not much view of table mauntain. I ended up staying at Cape Town Lodge (few blocks down) cheaper than this hostel for much comfortable staying, and Once in Cape Town for much better services. I would never recommend this place. I booked because of their emphasis on social approach but you will find easily more direct and efficient chance of participation from information center and other agencies on Long st. Good luck if u decide to stay here!
Melaine, the manager is amazing. The best manager ever!!!
Everything was so clean and organized, they were so polite, constantly going out of their way to assist even when they do not have to.
The fact that I couldn't stay longer was the only thing I didn't like.
pretty nice place, what only stay there one night and leave so earlier, its a pity, but would like to recommend to others, its really worth
Everything was very good. We highly recommend it.
Probably in the top 5 backpacker hostels in Southern Africa
There was a little sand in the spinach omelet one morning, so I wondered about cleanliness. Otherwise I liked everything
Had a great, relaxed time at the backpack. The Staff was lovely, funny, friendly and i felt really welcomed there. They gave lots of good informations about whats the best to do in capetown and surroundings. The location is nearby of good going out places like longstreet and really close to lions head and Campsbay! I loved every minute of my stay and the "Braai" was fantastic, although i am a vegetarian! ;)
Love the atmosphere and the people one meets there.
That I could NOT stay longer.
Great hostel. It is located close to Long Street, a few minutes walk from the Waterfront.. Good facilities and friendly staff. They also have a good bar/coffee in the communal area.
Free wifi is only avaible in common areas, not in some dorms.
Great location, a few blocks away from all the nightlife, museums, etc.. Excellent staff.
Staff are very very nice, if you don't mess with them! lol Nice localization! Nice accommodation! One of the best structure I've seen in a HOSTEL. And I have to say it again: Staff are very nice! They are the key of you having a bad or a excellent experience in your accommodation! I had myself only good experiences with them, despite the problem I mentioned in the negative points.
Kitchen is not so clean, maybe because the guests don't keep it clean as it should be. But the worse problem is that in 2 weeks of stay I saw 2 scandalous discussion between guests and staff. Yeah, discussion happens anywhere! But when you see the staff yelling laughter than the guest (that in most of time was talking normal), in both cases, it causes a bad environment and bad image for the company. Sure, Staff are human being! They can be mad too! However a very professional person wouldn't cause more fight, they should try to talk and persuade the guest in other way or keep calm at least.
- A nice haven in central Cape Town! - The location is pretty good for Cape Town. Long and Kloof streets are within walking distance, and there are relatively safe streets to walk back from the center even in the evening. - I got a big room with a nice view on the garden, and of course to the Table Mountain. - For a solo traveler the bar at Backpack (open until midnight every night) was a nice place to meet some fellow travelers. - Some of the staff members were helpful and nice, some just correct.
- Wifi only available at the lounge areas, and working so and so at times. - The pool was not very clean (although, there is a pool which is great for a hostel!).
Extremely nice staff, very clean, nice place to hang out
