Score from 194 reviews Very good
In a restored 19th-century prison, this hotel features modern rooms with panoramic Table Mountain views. Its ground-floor café overlooks the V&A Waterfront and serves lights snacks on its patio.

These apartments are just over a quarter mile from the Cape Town Harbour. It's just over half a mile from the V&A Waterfront and features an outdoor pool.
Score from 444 reviews Very good
Excellent location, quiet, enjoyed a wonderful breakfast, and very well managed. Elegant lounge and nice garden area with swimming pool
Very good location, close to Waterfront ... and of course the staff!
The water running during the night in the bathroom.
Great location next to Waterfront very nice public areas
Maid service bit haphazard e.g towels removed early and not replaced toilitaries not replace. Young boys and girls allowed to make big noise in the pool after 11pm.Shower not user friendly to elderly lack of handrails and slip mat
Extremely helpful and friendly staff
EVERYONE WAS MOST HELPFUL ESPECIALLY WHEN I REQUIRED ASSISTANCE FOR TRAVEL TO THE AIRPORT
Excellent Hotel. The staff offer fabulous service and I rate this as 100% perfect! Well done to the Manager. This well managed hotel is absolutely superb. The rooms are comfortable and immaculately clean. The valet service is efficient and fast. The view over Table Mountain and the V&A are fabulous if you get on the right side of the hotel. The most perfect stay I have ever had at a hotel. Thank You !!!
Location,view,and courtyard for breakfast!
The Breakfast was good. The hotel was generally comfortable.
The hotel bathrooms need upgrading!
The location, it has a small but cute pool.
Room service took too long, hotel is old, staff don't know their own menu( 1 eg: i asked for a mango panacota, garçon told me no more cocktails after 10 pm - Panacota is a desert, another eg- I asked for a caprece salad, they gave me a cesar salad) every time I asked concierge to get me a cab, they would let someone else take the cab.I asked for toothpaste 3 days straight, never got it. It was horrible for a 4 star hotel and for its price.
The Commodore is situated in the perfect location for anyone who likes to visit Cape Town using the car as less as possible. Staff is really helpful and always gentle and smiling. Very good breakfast.
Some ACs are a little bit old and therefore noisy
In waterfront and close to shops
This was a return visit to the Commodore, this time for a holiday in Cape Town, having enjoyed a short business stay at the hotel several years ago. The Commodore is a traditional style hotel with very friendly, welcoming, efficient and polite staff at all levels and functions, and at all times of day. Located a very easy stroll away from the V&A Waterfront activities, restaurants and marine facilities; yet with its own quiet courtyard and swimming pool area for a relaxing daytime or evening break from more hectic activities.
There is nothing not to like about the Commodore.
The airconditioner was very effective; rooms were spotless and comfortable.
Showering while standing in the bath is slippery & dangerous. Floor became quite wet. Pillows were too fat or too flat; something inbetween would be preferable. Waited forever for toast in the dining room & had to request butter.
location, the gym,
the room is old, bathroom door totally worn out, restaurant kitchen service at night for dinner pathetic
Fantastic staff, refreshingly good service Location close to V&A and easy freeway access
Tired hotel, needs revamp Buttons brokers on lifts, warn carpets. Not critical but ...
Good breakfast Good gym Close by water front
Service in the room was quite poor (e.g. very superficial cleaning, beds not really well made, no drinks in the room except half liter of still water and half liter of sparkling water) A morning, returned from my jogging exercise ready to take the showers and run to my day tour, I discovered that all the towels were removed and NOT replaced. It took three phone calls to have back the towels. Air conditioner difficult to regulate and noisy. Cockroaches in the patios where we had the dinner and breakfast. Last night the water run out from the evening up to early morning. No water even to brush the teeth. The table service at the breakfast was very poor for a 4* hotels. Conclusion, this hotel could be an acceptable 3* but 4* are really too much
Hotel is located in waterfront very safe place day and night.Rooms are big and confortable. Breakfest bouffet with lot of choice (fresh fruits).
Rooms are very expensive.
Restaurant staff friendly.
Restaurant meals and Reception staff are poor. Not worthy of a four star rating. Poor value for money.
Very friendly staff. Nice big room. Excellent in-room coffee facilities.
Very slow check-in and check out.
The location its near by waterfront.
I have nothing that did not like.
- free gluten breakfast _ operation tours - help
- miss shuttle to the centar at least once a day
Nice rooms we were on the third floor with a view of table mountain. The lower floors would only have looked at the building opposite. Easy walk to the waterfront. Helpful concierge.
