In a restored 19th-century prison, this hotel features modern rooms with panoramic Table Mountain views. Its ground-floor café overlooks the V&A Waterfront and serves lights snacks on its patio.
Score from 421 reviews Very good

Score from 332 reviews Very good
Nice rooms we were on the third floor with a view of table mountain. The lower floors would only have looked at the building opposite. Easy walk to the waterfront. Helpful concierge.
Good variety at breakfast buffet
Mini bar was empty in room
Close to the waterfront and good breakfast.
Bathroom a bit shabby.
Have been staying here on and off for 10 years. No reason to change and always welcomed back.
The staff in all the areas where very friendly and helpful and made our stay a pleasure.
We had two single beds and the shower was in the bath.
Great staff and service location very convenient
Decor a bit dated
excellent décor, attentive staff, great location, good views of Table Mountain
In room wifi limited signal strength
Location and helpful staff.
First time visitor and everything was great
Parking was easy and it's near the centre
Hotel is shabby, bathrooms poor needs some money spent on it, you can see that it's was once a force but now it's lost it's glory..
Food was very good and staff were friendly. Location was key for me.
The bedroom and bathrooms need refurbishment. Seperate shower and bath is better.
Staff were very pleasant
Excellent staff, both friendly and efficient. Lovely restaurant and bar. Great location.
Old classic Continental hotel. Old World service -- lots of helpful staff Easy 5 minute walk to V & A Waterfront with its 85 restaurants. Great breakfast!
On a ridge -- walk back from Waterfront is uphill and not real well lit at night. WiFi in rooms is spotty and only medium fast. 300mgb daily free limit
Friendly staff, nice rooms, great location and good breakfast
Pool is freezing so useless, hotel in general needs an update, beginning to look a little shabby (with the exception of lobby). The steam room was not cleaned once in 1.5 weeks even though I frequently complained. Ended up cleaning it myself.
close to waterfront !!! -- frindly staff
strange price determination: via booking.com better price then direct at the reception ??!!
Location Friendliness of general staff Facilities Cleanliness Food Lounge and bar area Room and view
Initial reception, being informed the our booking had been cancelled Not being listened to by duty manager
Everything was very good for the price paid.
Only small criticism was the coffee at breakfast.
hotel staff were great, beautiful hotel and great location
TV channels were not very good, not enough options.
Car valet broke my Discovery handbrake
Excellent location for walking to the V&A (great F&B location)
Air-conditioning was rather noisy
It was very close to the waterfront and other facilities , I would like to come back to this hotel, and i will recommended it
The location. Size of the room was good, had separate seating area.
Rooms a bit dated. Loo kept running. Building going on next door, so balcony no use. Parking attendant took forever to get the car, after phoning 30 minutes before - still had to wait.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the front of hotel staff and those in the dining and bar areas. The location is perfect.
We did have several problems. I am disabled and in a wheelchair and the disabled room they gave us was superb except for the bathroom. The drain in the shower was blocked when we arrived and the total layout of the bathroom and fittings gave the feel of being thrown together so as to say a disabled bathroom was there without any practicalities thought through. The shower was at a higher level so the water poured into the rest of the bathroom and the tiles, when wet, are very slippy. There are not enough handles around the showee.
