I'd stayed there a year or so before and found it so charming and reminiscent of an age gone by before my time. So I took my husband and son there to experience the same. The decor and genteel charm of the place still lingered. However, we found on the second night of our planned 4 nights' stay that the hotel was closing down the following week!!! This now explained the non-functioning coffee maker in our room, the dirty carpets, the non-availability of toilet paper, milk, and most of the room service menu items, and the skeleton staff. We were told the hotel had been doing very badly financially and also then saw an auction notice that the beautiful artworks and rugs were going under the hammer soon. I would just like to extend our sympathies to all the staff and the founders of this beautiful establishment that it has had to die this way - truly sad. I cannot recommend the Rosebank Grace to other travellers as it is closing.

The difference, as usual between a good hotel and a great one lies in the staff. The people at the grace were excellent, They were the difference between a 4 and a 5 star experience. Loved the attention to detail too. I loved all the delicious snacks, cakes and tarts that were avaialble in the lobby or on the 4th floor if one fancied a nibble at some point in the day. We extended our stay by a day because we enjoyed the place so much. This is very much an "old world" hotel, so not for the hip or the fasionistas. The gym in the hotel was very basic with a creaky treadmill. But they provide access to a much larger guy in the mall if you're prepared to walk the 5 minutes

Beautiful Hotel and every comfort was provided. Brilliant breakfast with alot of choice- just loved the Eggs Benedict- with different varieties to choose from. Such a shame that the hotel will be closing at the end of the month as it locate close to the Gautrain and direct access the shopping centre is great.

The rooms are spacious, they think of the little details. The ambience is welcoming and inviting. Three things need attention: (1) The restaurant staff are slow and lethargic, this is the third time I have stayed at this hotel and this is the biggest flaw in an otherwise wonderful. (2) The carpeting in the public areas really need to be replaced, even inside the lifts they look a bit run down and this may leave some visitors with the feeling that the hotel is run down, which is far from the truth. (3) The televisions in the standard rooms are from the dinasour years and the number of channels provided are not sufficient for a business traveller, there should be more sports channels and a an investment made into a better satellite coverage on the television.

Good value for money (as long as it is less then $200 per night). Location is quite good. All in all - a good experience. Breakfast was not more than ok. Cofee was simply bad.. They can put in a new tv (currently, an old 21" one). Still - I will return and take my coffe elsewhere.

Attentive staff, not too attentive. Access to the Mall. Water very slow to warm up. Intrusive plumbing noises in my room. Very tight covered parking, but i did park my car myself and there is a valet service, so there's really no need to do it.

This hotel is excellent - staff very friendly and helpful, everything very clean, and the little daily treats in reception (croissants & orange juice in the mornings, scones & cakes in the afternoons - along with tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, plus canapes in the evenings) - all complimentary. It was nice and quiet, beautifully decorated, and we felt very safe throughout our stay. Take the lift to the second floor and you will find yourselves straight in the shopping mall! Apparently, on Floor 5, you get a butler and even better treats (for a small extra charge). We spent three nights here and could have stayed longer. We spent a day in Soweto, including lunch and some great sightseeing (well, well worth it, and not threatening) and another day on a private tour in Jo'burg itself. This was a bit scary at times! However our guide/driver took great car of us and, again, not to be missed - the only way to see Jo'burg as it is not a very safe place. We learnt a lot during these trips. This hotel is definitely one of our favourites ever (and we have stayed in quite a few!). Highly recommended.

The atmosphere is really world class, total privacy, it feels like you are alone in the whole building. I like the old fashion designs, all in all I would recommend this hotel to any person, without hesitation. May be the management should think about installing modern quieter air-conditioning system.

The elegance of the hotel, the classy style of the hotel. The eats that are always available in the foyer, the gowns in the room and the I think an investment in refurbishment would improve the ambiance of the hotel. The television needs to be improved. The proficiency at the dining room could be improved.

The friendly staff, very helpful and warm. Everywhere we were greeted by great big warm smiles. It was very welcoming. We had booked a standard suite and we were put into a standard room. This was rectified quickly once I pointed it out, however I did feel if I hadnt done so, nothing would have been done and luckily I had my paperwork with me. The lady on the desk who booked me in and also fixed this was not as warm as the others and it felt like I was a problem to her. I was a little shocked that this could happen at such a nice hotel.

turn down service; every evening a bucket of fresh ice; bright room and spacious, separate shower cabin; punctual delivery of breakfast to the room; complimentary wifi access quality of toiletries was ok but for a 5 star hotel it could be a bit better, in particular the shampoos

Breakfast I was rather dissapointed with my stay at the hotel for the following reasons: 1)The fan of the airconditioning was out of balance and making a lot of noise, which prevented me from falling asleep. Consequently I switched it off, but then it became freezing cold in the room and there were no extra blankets (I only found a very thin blue blanket). 2) The remote of the tv was not working and the reception of the tv was of very poor quality. 3) The lock of my door was broken and the door could not be locked.
