The Graywood

The Graywood Hotel offers visitors a perfect base from which to explore the quaint village of Knysna and the many adventures found on the Garden Route.

Our timberlog building echoes the town's proud heritage as a woodcraft centre, a skill that survives to this day thanks to the surrounding indigenous forests. An extensive collection of original railway and steam train memorabilia recall a bygone era, while our selection of historic photographs gives you deeper insight into Knysna's locomotive past.

Because we are just 300m from both the town centre and Knysna Waterfront, you can explore at leisure. Amongst the many interests you will find quaint shops, restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets, boat cruises and ferry rides, local art galleries and an excellent Tourist Information Centre.

From George into Knysna:
Turn right at the first traffic light into Waterfront Drive. Next traffic light, turn left into Grey Street, 2 blocks up on the corner of Trotter and Grey Street. Hotel is on the right.

From Plettenberg Bay into Knysna:
Turn left at the second traffic light into Waterfront Drive, at the second traffic light turn right and 2 blocks up on the corner of Trotter and Grey Streets. Hotel is on the right
