Parked in the road but it was safe.
Beautiful old building, oregan floors and high ceilings. Loved the veranda with the view of the sea and the hospitality..... amazing Coffee.

The service is very friendly, the Inn is within walking distance of almost everything in Kalk Bay, so we could just park our cars and take a walk anywhere. Loved the balcony with beautiful views of the sea, as well as the tranquil little garden area in the back. Rooms are comfy and quiet, even with the proximity of the Inn to the main street. Definitely recommended!

no fridge in room bathroom "across hall" was in fact a longer walk away so not too convenient
sea view and verandah

We were staying when there were serious mountain fires nearby so had to sleep with windows shut and it would have been nice to have had a fan in the room
Charming quirky building with friendly owner who really looks after you

Poor bed and bedding,in need of upgrade.

no words to explain. elegant, comfortable, great staff, close to the sea....and not expensive at all! the breakfast is not included, it's true, but for 130 rand you'll have the best one of your life.

Inn not well signposted and access is quite cumbersome from the main road.
Location of Inn was walking distance to most places of interest

Not enough bathrooms with showers

The price includes very basic service and you have to pay for almost any additional service. Price comparisons might be unfair.
Location, people is very helpful

Wifi is rubbish, even though you have to pay for it. Breakfast is at a different hotel (which is very close by). Everything going on in other rooms can be heard: showering, talking, walking, snoring, etc.
Ideal location, close to the train station and all the restaurants. Lovely house. Really friendly staff.

No Wi-Fi despite our continuing requests. We were told it was down and would come back but during our stay of one week it didn't. Breakfast is not on the property but a little way up the road at its sister property,Chartfield. This breakfast is very good indeed, and very good value.
Easy walk down to the seafront, our room which opened onto the first-floor verandah with wonderful sea views, quiet house with helpful staff. Very good choice of different kinds of restaurants, lively main street with quaint shops. Possible to take the train into Cape Town or to Simonstown.

Each room has a separated nice and clean toilet/ shower but not always beside the room.
The receptionist Madeleine was very friendly and helpful. Everything we needed or any advice was given. The view to the sea from the veranda is really romantic. Highly recommended. Perfect for your cape town experience if you have or hire a car. The rooms have funny whale names. Rooms are warm and comfortable. Reasonable prices =)

Bathrooms are private, yet they are in a seperate room for which you need to cross the public hallway.. Our lock broke down (true, this bad luck) and we lost 2 hours before we could enter our room again (we came from our bathroom). This was our only night in kalk bay and we missed sunset.. What bothers me is that we got no compensation from the motel..

I liked the large balcony and the wonderful sea views, the close proximity to the sea and the main street shops without the noice of the main road. Lovely relaxing. Great coffee!!!

Due to the kind of old house, a little noisy. The photo on the site let think a bigger entrance and terrace
The room witch was really the same as the photos had a nice decoration and confort. The house, old but kind, we felt like home. Very easy to go to restaurant by foot, safe. And our guest who is so nice, simple and welcoming. Breakfast was good and great !

parking in street.
close /walking distance to seafront and shops (sentrally situated). no need to get into car and drive to shops. nice view over the bay (room with a sea view). loved the balcony with chairs and just relax while enjoying the sea breeze.

Had to ask for a double adapter to use the hairdryer. Could hear every move guests above us made. No TV in rooms. Very nice big rooms, but ours didn't really have a view - couldn't keep curtains opne because the entrance was right outside our widnow and people could look into our room. Expected more for the price. Compared to Bo La Motte in Franschhoek which is exactly the same price afraid it was lalcking in luxures and those little extras (eg. at Bo La Motte - rusks, hand cream, foam bath - bath and shower in bathroom, furniture in mint condition, TV with Dstv in all units etc. Would have been happy to pay R500 per night instead of R650 per night.
Staff helpful and friendly. Great location for strolling to Kalk Bay. Beautiful floor boards, ceilings. Big comfy bed. Size of room great.

Parking was a bit awkward. I had to park some distance away and, although there was a security guard there overnight I would've preferred to leave my car on more secure premises. The steep , narrow roads are not for the faint-hearted driver/walker either.
I love the old wood in all the furnishings. I love the narrow cobbled roads of Kalk Bay and the way this property has been maintained/restored is true to the feel of the harbour village. My room was clean and comfy (beautiful curtains and blind). The sound of the sea at night is lovely even though I didn't have a sea view. I didn't try the bottle of wine or the bottled water but it is a nice touch. The manager, Michelle was kind, friendly and helpful.
