Breakfast was good
I was given a very poorly located room with limited sunlight and then moved to the smallest room while I booked a superior room
All the good features were what one would expect for the price and the 4 stars.
1)The view was of a grey container placed 1 m from the windows!! Not good. Those rooms with this view should not be used. 2) the basin plug system was broken and the basin water poured out onto the floor!
Classic decor and home comfort.
Breakfast could have been better. Upgrade the dining room.
On noisy road and inappropriate door mats.
The scrumptious breakfast
Location. Barman was very friendly. Breakfast excellent.
The room had poor lighting and was very dark. Saturday afternoon and night were extremely noisy. There were guests in the corridor both upstairs and downstairs were talking and laughing loudly till the early hours of the morning, this was very unpleasant. Hotel staff should advise guests given the close proximity the rooms to exercise some discretion in this regard. For this reason would not take a change staying here again.
Very friendly staff. Good location.
Shower in the bath with a screen that didn't stop the floor getting wet.
The staff were friendly and accommodating, the room was clean and well presented and the breakfast was delicious
Close proximity to road which I suppose in unavoidable. Also the restaurant had a function so unavailable, we didn't need to use it however it may be an idea to advise guests of this
Beautiful building and wonderful staff.
The restaurant lacks atmosphere. U could hear the kitchen staff chatting and laughing in the restaurant. Breakfast staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Our booking was made at the last minute the night before we arrived in Durban and we were travelling with 2 young children under 5 and we were accommodated so well with a mattress on the floor for our 4yr old and a campcot for the 11 month old. The room was clean and comfortable We only wish we could have stayed longer!
The staff were friendly, attentive and responsive. Shannon and Llewellyn especially made sure I got whatever needed, such as a booking, or information about sites in the city. It was a very relaxed stay. I would definitely return.
Design and location was great for us. Breakfast was great.
the toillet flushing made a hell of a noise! we heard even the neigbours flush. Especially not very exciting during the night when you look for a good sleep. If this would be improved then the hotel would get our full score.
Staff very friendly - able to connect instead of processing guests.
Music from night club across the road, but the aircon helped to subdue that. Only a problem in rooms facing Florida Road. There are plenty with no exposure.
what is not to like. Perfectly located near all the trendy bars and eateries, it is still a beautiful well kept place with classic albeit colonial decor. The staff are always friendly and attentive and procedures such as check in and check out are always a breeze. Love the Victorian style bathrooms and the cool sleigh beds and the crisp clean linen - I am a fan years after I first slept here
breakfast eggs were a little too oily though I should have just stuck to the menu. The buffet is nice to look at but somehow it always seems to be a bit too much and exposed to the hot elements even with the netting that they put around it (which isn't that cool) Glass hurricane lamps for a small selection of cold meats and dairy products perhaps? This might get the look they are after even if it would be cumbersome to access. It might help deal with flies and could be a more aesthetically pleasing arrangement than the current mosquito net they have used for a while now. other than that wouldn't change a thing.
BREAKFAST SERVICE - Waitress was not paying attention.
Friendly and professional staff Excellent breakfast Good location for business travellers
No bar fridge in room. Bathroom could be cleaner-behind door, brass door handles can be shined. Odor from sink drain.
Consistently high standards over the years, impeccably maintained gardens, committed management team and staff and excellent value!
Hotel location, relaxed competent staff, design, restaurant.
old world charm beautifully furnished All modern comforts Restaurant suberb
A small hotel (24 rooms) built in 3 old Victorian-style buildings. Perfect location, close to town, at the beginning of the restaurants / bars stretch of Florida road. Nice small bar, and a convenient restaurant on the premises, with a decent menu. Breakfast, with his combination of buffet and a-la-carte was out of this world. All the staff, from reception to waiter, guards, maids, where all extremely friendly. The room has all amenities, and is rather on the big size. The very silent air con was appreciated. The whole deco with an old colonial flair gave a great atmosphere to the place. Excellent security. Highly recommended.
Nothing, nothing at all, absolutely perfect, my best address in South Africa.
Excellent!!! Like others who have stated...I rarely leave comments ...I had read some negative comments which made me somewhat uncomfortable..wanted to stay on the Beach..but I am glad I chose Quarters..the staff was one of the Nicest and Friendliest I have ever encountered...breakfast was GREAT..Rooms perfect..I have traveled from Alaska to Capetown and a whole lot of places in between...so if you read negative comments..Please Disregard..great Indian Restuarant down the street ...Vintage...if you like Biltong great butcher shop right down the street
That the staff were able to think on their feet and make a plan
That we weren't informed that there would be a function that evening and the restaurant would be closed.
Restaurant; convenient, safe location; free WiFi; Small Hotel
A bit noisy at night; Menu does not change which may be a problem for longer stays
