By a dam 1 km from private Timbavati Game Reserve, Tom Cats Safari Inn offers rooms in a thatched bungalow surrounded by gardens. It has an outdoor pool and can organise Big Five game drives. Each of the 4 rooms is decorated in an African theme and has private access. Outside the rooms is a covered terrace. Breakfast can be prepared on request and all guests have access to a kitchen, patio dining area and lounge with satellite TV. Next to Tom Cats there is an African-style pub that serves meals. Activities nearby include microlighting over the reserve, hot air ballooning and hiking. Blyde River Canyon, a 45-minute drive away, offers white water rafting. Set right by the Timbavati Gate, Tom Cats Inn is less than 1 hour’s drive from Kruger Park and there is free parking on site. A shuttle is available on request to Kruger Mpumulanga International Airport, 161 km away. Bush pub on the premises that served good food with value for money. We were there with our caravan for an overnight stay in one of their chalets, and had to park it outside the property. When booking they assured us that we would have safe parking. The room is advertised with tea/coffee making facilities. There was nothing of any sorts in our room. The bath towels were as hard as sandpaper and smelled bad. Bedside lamp did not work.
