Its location, beachfront, city centre.Friendly and helpful staff .

Catering for Muslim customers, would like to see halaal catering.

Staff members are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is just on the doorstep of the beach. Clean rooms and very spacious. Their food is well prepared.

Ocean side location Nice room with great view

No air conditioning in hallways or lobby Area not particularly safe late at night Lobby and in front of the hotel was a area that young men not staying at the hotel seemed to congregate.

The carring staff make a person feels home,there is always help when you call,as quick as they can.Tropicana is attractive and clean.The beach view is beautiful!

The only thing that is inconviniencing is the parking area that is at the other side of the hotel.

The view from hotel room (8th floor) was stunning and the breakfast outstanding! My son said he has never tasted such wonderful croissants. Overall a very pleasant and "good value for money" stay for my husband and son.

The only gripe (not that important though), my 10 year old son felt that the receptionist who checked them in wasnt friendly upfront but lightened up when my son told her why he was visiting Durban. Other than that - no complaints at all!

The stay at the hotel was absolutely worth every cent. We arrived earlier than our check in time and the room was ready for us. The service we received was very good. The staff was friendly. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast, although some improvements can be made with the waiter service which was really just avarage. The buffet dinner menu was just average but our overall stay at the hotel was really nice. I would recommend the hotel to friends.

Price was a good rate per night for 3* hotel. The room was fine, not double glazed so a bit noisy from traffic outside, but if looking for value for money hotel, clean, decent food and good breakfast Tropicana ticks all the boxes. Mutton curry in Calipso bar fabulous for 27 rand (£2.70)

1.My gripe throughout S.A. is the price for internet, or wifi in rooms. Here it was a staggering 150 rand (£15 for 10 hours ffs!! ) That is a disgrace for anyone wanting to use the internet, must be 99% profit, compared to the Hilton 170 rand for 24 hrs is far worse value. 2. South Beach where this and many other hotels are located is a really dodgy area at night, be careful !! Take a taxi !! Hoody figures lurking in every doorway, gangs glue sniffing on the street around the corner while Police 10m away turn a blind eye, beggars, people sleeping rough, this is a run douwn area of Durban. Always a high Police presence in this area, but how effective they are is anyones guess. Once again, at night be careful in this area, just a shame for this and the other hotels along South Beach

Fantastic location, right on the beachfront and close to People Mover bus stop which was a big plus when kids are too tired to walk anymore! Breakfast was fantastic and room service very reasonable.The staff were fantastic, so friendly and always willing to help and chat to my young son. The concierge went out of his way to ensure our stay was wonderful, even changing us to a sea view room when we requested it and getting up at 3 in the morning to give us a wake up call from his house to make sure we did not miss our flight! We also got a packed breakfast that morning as we left so early that we missed the wonderful buffet. All round fantastic service!!! Will definately be back!

This is an old hotel so it is a bit worn at the edges...so if you are looking for sparkling new this is not for you! Not dirty...just a bit shabby here and there!

The setup in the room , the atmosphere and confort was excellent, the speedy room service, the service at the help desk, patrons very polite and patient, THe breakfast was very pleasing , the view from the sea facing room was breath taking , will advise anyone to stay at this hotel, reasonal prices depending on the number of people.Thank you for your excellent customer service.

Très bon petit déjeuner, personnel très aimable, très bonne situation géographique (face à l'océan). Grande chambre, bonne literie ; je pense que c'est un hôtel à recommander pour son rapport qualité/prix.

La salle de bains est un peu vieillissante et mériterait une rénovation. Ascenseurs assez lents.

This is not a complaint, but i think you can do a revamp on your bathrooms..
