    The service was really great, a special thanks to the caretaker who stayed up 'till past midnight to give us our keys.

    There was no milk for coffee in the morning. The bed was really squeaky and wobbly, but comfortable.

    Excellent Staff Excellent Spa Treatment Beautiful Wiews Quietness Value for money

    Could be cleaner, example, the room windows can be cleaned. There was nothing in the bar fridge? Lots of dogs barking, but this is in the area and not part of Victoria.

    The staff is very friendly, the place is nice with great views of Cape Town. I also enjoyed the breakfast. the place is so homely. I would highly recommend it.

    The location and the absolute peacefulness has been awesome...really nice to sit on balcony and look out over the Bay.

    The bamboo blinds really felt that someone can see us while getting dressed. We could have been notified that we can order Breakfast. We had to ask for Coffee and milk for the Executive Suite. Apart from that - everything has been great!

    The view was great. The executive/family suite was perfect for a group of 4 with a baby. Jonathan the manager was very helpful.

    Dog poo. They love their dogs, so you must be able to appreciate dogs.

    I really think the place needs a modern upgrade,keeping things more attractive,with a luxuary twist at the same time mind blowing modern chick. " cause the location is perfect...def needs a upgrade,moving with the times guys...I really like friendly staff..

    There was a few things I didn't like ,the beding wasn't clean ,I coudnt charge my mobile phn cause 2pin plug wasn't workin,the noise from ur other vistorts wasn't pleasant. The stay was awfull..however the place can be turn into world stardards....I really exspected much more from our stay...

    The pool was a good size and the jacuzzi was a nice extra. We also took advantage of a spa package that was good value and a nice way to spend a not so sunny afternoon.

    We had a ground floor room which although the bed was comfy, the room smelled very musty and damp. The garden area at the back was surrounded by metal fence with electric fencing above it and we didn't see any staff from 6pm until we left the next morning when we left our keys in the room as there was no one to advise what we needed to do. This made it feel quite unsafe and isolated and we had a poor nights sleep because of this.

    The room was stunning and the bathroom is fabulous. Gorgeous view and peaceful environment.

    The DSTV is too limited. No sport and no movie channels.

    The view, the quality of the matrasses and the taxi service to and from the Town were ok.

    The Victoria Luxury guesthouse is not worth its name. The rooms, though spacious, were not clean and there is a clear lack of maintenance all over the place. Further, some dogs of the owner should not place their droppings in the area where guests are supposed to come. We fear that in a few years this guesthouse will just be a one star place at a too high price.

    The staff at the Lodge were charming partivularly the manager, Jonathon. The beds are excellent but our suite lacked suffient cupboard space. The victoria Lodge in Hout Bay is an excellent spot from which to explore Cape Town.

    I was travelling with my 85 year-old Mum and she found the site very difficult to navigate as it is very steep - no problem for the able bodied though. We had a lovely patio but no table and chairs - however, Jonathon immediately remedied this by bringning some over. Swimming pool was not very clean.

    The Jacuzzi was amazing! The view was breath-taking. I loved that there was a patio and braai area as well, even though we didn't make use of it.

    Waited for 20 minutes before helped. No one was at reception. Pool was being used for PRIVATE function by owner with no warning. Staff had been drinking alcohol upon arrival. Extra bed for our child had not been prepared on arrival.

    The beautiful view from our balcony!

    We only stayed at the hotel a day later, because we were standing in front of a closed gate when we arrived on the night of booking. I informed the hotel of our late arrival and got confirmation that someone would be there to open up for us. It was our wedding day, so my phone was switched off. When turning it back on, on our way to the guest house, I saw about 5 missed calls. We tried hooting, phoning 2 different numbers, ringing the bell and flashing our lights, before finally deciding to give up and travel home. My husband went back the same day and we were blamed for not picking up the phone. When my husband explained the reasons why, we were offered an alternative night at the hotel... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but look back at a disappointing end to our wedding day. We're hoping that in future the guesthouse will try different options than just calling (for example leaving a text message with clear plan), so that no couple will ever experience standing in front of a closed gate in the middle of the night again...

    I booked a room with a seaview on bookings.com, and when I got there they tried to give me a room without a seaview. It wasn't even clean, and had a bad smell. Then they suggested I pay an extra R1500 for one with a seaview! The DVD player didn't work and the staff did not appear to be too helpful or friendly.

    Nice location, nice facility. Internet was not terribly good, and there were issues with booking. Overall the day staff was very good and did their best to accommodate our needs.

    Our experience was less than perfect, and I would blame that on the booking team. We stayed for Christmas Eve and Christmas night, and the day staff, who were very kind and obliging, did not have the information we had forwarded to Lodge prior to arrival. We had booked a room for four people, but there were only two beds ready on arrival. I had notified the booking agent exactly when we would be arriving, but the staff that day were not given that information (and we came in late on Christmas Eve, so unfair to the staff on hand that they had to wait without know how long they needed to wait). Additionally, I had requested breakfast, and was told to request it when we arrived. But as we arrived quite late Christmas eve, it was too late to arrange. So, no breakfast on Christmas morning. Not exactly as I would have wished.

    Nice view. Spacious, well-appointed bedroom. Close to restaurants and cafe.

    Stench (really strong) from the bathroom (cat urine I think), which when I complained to reception was advised may be a blocked drain, but which stench remained for the duration of our stay. Dog poop behind the unit - rather unpleasant visual and aroma when we opened the window (to try to relieve the cat urine smell) facing the back of the unit. Would have appreciated it if the staff had enquired whether the smell had abated after we complained, but did not hear from them again after they undertook to try to do a drain unblocking exercise. Need a drop box for bedroom keys for guests leaving before 9am.
