Score from 516 reviews Wonderful
Very Good location, very nice decoration, very good service.
The rooms could be a little larger...
Friendly ,quiet,good situation
Room very good but a bit small for our 3 cases
the friendly atmosphere and setting
The room size was to the limits
High quality of service, excellent breakfast served outside, salt water swimming pool.
Air conditioning is not available, toilet is integrated to the room without door between.
Loved the place as a whole and the ambience in the place. the staff were very friendly and willing to assist with anything.
wife did not like the steeps down to the room. Maybe a pathway would be better for elderly folk?
It had the personal touch, royal experience that anyone could wish for. I would recommend this guest house to anyone travelling in and around Cape Town.
A very nice decorated guesthouse with a great pool, delicious breakfast and wonderfull hosts who gave us nice tips to discover the region. Dank u wel Tamara, Jan and your maid.
breakfast was excelent
Grounds and rooms were wonderful. Close by car to sights. Hosts and breakfast superb.
The setting and the warm welcome
No hot water when we arrived, but this was sorted out by the next morning
More than met all our requirements with well-appointed unit, large comfortable bed, and modern bathroom with spacious shower. The excellent breakfast consists of natural foods to suit all tastes and is served in a delightful lapa (heated on chilly mornings) ewith a view of the pool and attractive garden. Set at the end of a quiet, leafy cul-de-sac, Villa Helderberg is a two-minute drive from the main road connecting Stellenbosch and Strand. Highly recommended.
On our two-day stay we had no complaints
Excellent stay in a cosy suite with a delicious dinner and breakfast at the pool area. Moreover the tenants really took care of our comfort and gave us some advices to enjoy our trip around Somerset West.
Run by a young Dutch couple this guest house really does deserve to be a success for them. Nothing is too much trouble, the rooms are air conditioned and well equipped whilst there is secure parking for the car. Save only for the point ref small children and the pathway above the pool we would highly recommend Villa Herderberg whilst within the immediate locality there is a first class restaurant - "Stephanies" being only 5 minutes away.
For families with young children the pathway leading to the outdoor breakfast area is directly above the beautiful swimming pool and is potentially dangerous as there is no barrier or railings to prevent individuals unsteady on their feet falling circa 2 mtrs into the water.
Me and my wife appreciate great help and advice from Jan who provided assistance when my wife got sick and dehydrated. He consulted his doctor and drove us to the hospital in the middle of night. Owners are very kind, flexible and helpful. Room and courtyard are beautiful and functional. Breakfast rich and above standards.
A home away from home - Everything about this guesthouse and its owners is all you can ask for when travelling. Tamara and Jan made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. It felt almost like staying with friends after only one day. Both are outstanding attentive and helpful. You feel and see everywhere that both are running their house with all their hearts. The house is located in a quiet and secure part of Somerset West (Helderberg). The perfectly clean rooms are newly renovated and decorated with much love for details. Especially the bed was very comfy! Tamara’s breakfast was a treat every morning. And the braai was one of the best I ever had in SA. If you are looking for a place in the CT region, this is the place to choose! @Tamara & Jan: Thank you so much again for such a lovely time at your place and with you! This time remains one of the highlights of our trip.
Driving up to villa Helderberg is already a pleasure, the neighbourhood beautiful, the location excellent. We received such a warm welcome, a real pleasure, as was the attention to detail given to the decoration and making the guests comfortable
Good breakfast. Hosts couldn't have been better; very keen to ensure everything o.k. Lovely hillside garden setting, private and relaxing, yet near R44 for easy access somerset west and Stellenbosch
Wonderful relaxing ambient, perfect location, accompanied by very attentive hosts.
Welcoming and friendly hosts always available to help. Lovely setting, very relaxing and comfortable.
Verwelkoming en leuke sfeer
The owners were first class Nothing was too much trouble
No air conditioning in a very airless room! At night people sat under our only window until late (midnight, until we said something) talking
Everything about the actual place. the owners and the facilities were wonderful with a small bottle of sparkling wine to greet us and a quite unexpected present of chocolates for my wife on her birthday
It took us three quarters of an hour to find, asking at least 4 different people for directions. The area is a labyrinth of small intersecting roads marked by names low down on the pavements. It didn't help that the address on your. and their, websites is 48 Rupert Street and the actual road is marked Rupert Ave on one pavement and Rupert Laan on the other side! Indeed the owners admitted they couldn't find it at first when they were looking at the property to buy last year. I suggest to you, and have suggested to them that a detailed map from the N2 would be most helpful.
Comfortable rooms and facilities; delicious fresh breakfast; quite environment but perfect location to travel in the western cape and wineland; Tamara and Jan are great hosts. Definetly recommendable B&B!
