The family room was excellent. The room was beautifully and tastefully decorated. We had filtered water to drink and we received Lindors every evening as a delightful treat. The bathroom had gowns for each person. The breakfast was great for vegetarian. Each floor has a putt-putt course which is very innovative. It was great to have a TV in both the main bedroom and the lounge. Knowledgeable & helpful staff at reception, specially Linda. In General we found all staff helpful & obliging. Sunday brunch a highlight in terms of ambience, variety & quality of food, music & relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed walks along Sea Point promenade & location of Winchester to many restaurants.
The staff were all charming but terribly slow to deal with issues from key cards that didn't work to taxi bookings on time.
We had four attempts to get key cards that worked for our room. Our friends were left, after an International flight from LHR, for more than half an hour stuck outside their room until the housekeeper was summoned with the pass key... The photos of the hotel gave the impression of gardens at the front... You don't spot the busy road right by the entrance, before the grassed public area... Misleading enough that I wouldn't have booked it if I'd realised...
The setting, cleanliness etc
The attitude in incapability of staff!!!
I arrived very late at the hotel and when the receptionist learnt that I was quite hungry, she arranged for a sandwich to be delivered to my room. The room was spacious, quiet and clean. It overlooked the car park and had a side sea view without any traffic noise. The housekeeping was in line with other 4 + star hotels and attention to detail was noticed i.e. the kettle was refilled with fresh water every time I had used it. As I was coming back late in the evening, it was great being able to park my car in the hotel car park. An issue arose during my stay in respect of the car park and it was resolved very quickly by the hotel & booking.com. I was very impressed with Taliah one of the receptionists who (among other things) went to check my card key when I could not open the door to my room. She also chased the kitchen when one late order got very late. Overall, I had a lovely time there and although the service was either very good or rather bad, I will be returning.
I ordered a late night sandwich and had to chase room service an hour later as I was still waiting for it. Was told that it would arrive 5 minutes later...it actually arrived 35 minutes later. So total waiting time was 1hour 35 minutes. Not good. I had to repeat a drinks order 3 times and wait 1/2 hour before being served. The car park is actually quite small (15 spaces only) and although there is plenty of street parking there should not be a problem. But the sea front is a popular place at weekends, so it may take a while to find a space if the hotel car park is full.
Very poor breakfast
All the staff extremely helpful. Dinner at the restaurant excellent. Hotel shuttle very useful
Central to Cape town and surrounding, be it the west coast, or the peninsula.
Bathrooms need attention and the bed was really un comfortable.
They didn't have my booking from booking.com I was asked very rudely by the receptionist to email the booking and then had it demanded from me again on a number of times in spite of the fact that I could connect to the hotel wifi Very mingy thin duvet for a cape town winter and the only other bed covering was a slightly grubby bedspread on the floor had a long day packing up my house and was my last day in Cape town for a while was looking forward to a little luxury and was bitterly disappointed Very noisy fridge considering there was nothing in it! No comparison at all to the excellent and friendly service I get from Southern Sun when I travel on business
Room was wonderful, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast awesome.
Public Areas like entrance toilets etc restaurants etc is fabulous. Seaviews. Huge Apartments. Good Bathroom.
Public Areas like entrance toilets etc restaurants etc is fabulous but the room decor which tried to be Historical / Victorian was dark and boring even though the furniture quality is good. The decorator who did the entrance and Restaurant / Bar should also have done the rooms. Room Decor is high quality but not not nice.

The reception staff members weren't extremely friendly compared to many other hotels we've stayed at. The TV reception was poor in both rooms. There was no gym. Exiting and entering the parking area was inconvenient especially when it once took over 10 minutes for someone to open the gate. The room service menu wasn't updated.
Lovely room very nice bar beautiful location great staff
room tended to be cool at night
Great location. Across the road from the beach and bus stop.
- No internet access in the rooms. Only internet access is in the business lounge; which is very poor in signal. Very poor mobile network in the rooms, which means no internet through mobile data. - Entry cards were messed up and don't always work. You have to keep going to the lobby to issue a new one, which again sometimes doesn't work. - During the night the doors are closed and it takes a long time for someone to open up the door to get in. It would've been great if a guest can use the access card to open the hotel door as well. - Breakfast variety is poor. - Most staff aren't welcoming and don't smile, specially the manager.
No stocked mini-bar, could not accept a restaurant walkin.
Knowledgeable & helpful staff at reception. Generally I found all staff helpful & obliging. Sunday brunch a highlight in terms of ambience, variety & quality of food, music & relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed walks along Sea Point promenade & location of Winchester to many restaurants.
Some strange arrangement regarding getting a slice of toast at breakfast.
Breakfast and the room was great
They fetched the towels when we were at breakfast and left nothing. Aircon was not consistent
Our driver was most friendly and helpful.
No internet access in the room.
Staff recognized me from previous stays. Waiters are well trained and accommodating, fulfilling special requests with ease. Great spa experience and a lovely, clean, well appointed room
I requested a stocked minibar which was not done, but this is not the worst thing ever;-)
Payment for parking. I Was given a ground floor room with no privacy and had to pay 25% more for a room on 3rd floor.
location,friendly waiters who tried hard
Poor food,I ordered Sandwidges in the bar which were cold,Rooms need an upgrade
Only has free wi-fi in the public areas - we had to pay R60 to connect in the room. This is completely antiquated. Also had to pay R75 per car per night to park - in South Africa?? The amount of money is nominal but these are irritation costs that one doesn't expect in a four star hotel. Definitely better four stars in Cape Town, wouldn't stay here again.
Paying for parking when the online reservation said it would be free?
