Food & beverage
Dependent on the weather, meals are served in the Boma, around the camp fire or in the restaurant overlooking the forest and waterhole. Join the rangers after dinner around the camp fire, telling their bush stories and discussing the day’s sightings. The pan-African cuisine offers a variety of buffet-style dishes and usually includes a venison dish. Winter dinners are at 19:00, but in the summer they are at 19:30.
The breakfast buffet is available from 07:00 to 10:00 and includes traditional fare, as well as an array of locally grown fresh fruits, yoghurts and cereals. Lunch is an informal meal as most guests are out exploring the wonders of the area. It is served from 13:00 until 14:00. For those who prefer to spend the day relaxing beside the swimming pool or with a book in our spacious lounge, a light lunch is available off the room service menu.
Travel information
By Car:
From Durban 276 km away:
- Proceed on the N2 north past Tongaat, Stanger, Empangeni, Mtubatuba to Hluhluwe.
- Take the Hluhluwe/Sodwana Bay exit also signposted Zululand Tree Lodge.
- At the top of the off-ramp turn left onto the P453 across the N2 flyover.
- Travel a further 2.5 km and you will see the Ubizane Wildlife Reserve’s entrance on your left.
From Johannesburg 560 km away:
- Proceed on the Witbank N4 freeway towards Middelburg.
- At Middelburg take the N11 to Ermelo.
- At Ermelo take the R29 to Piet Retief, Pongola to Mkhuze and then Hluhluwe.
- Take the Hluhluwe/Sodwana exit.
- Then follow the instructions above.
