This hotel has recently changed from the Sheraton Bilbao to the Melia Bilbao and unfortunately has suffered in the transition/change. Now a 5 star hotel charging 10 star prices and providing 3 star service! Where does one start? The reception staff were very cold and unhelpful. We were charged 25 euros per night for our small dog (yorkshire terrier) who had his own enclosed bed in the hotel bedroom - not been changed previously for him. Charged 20 euros per day for a very low power "high speed" internet which was not working most of the time. The food prices in the Cafe Chillada are very high - over 16 euros for a small green salad and 19.50 euros for a salmon loin with hardly any vegetables. The salmon was not properly cooked and afterwards I had severe stomach pains for two days. I complained but the reception staff just shrugged their shoulders and said that I should have complained at the time. No refund given. Wrongly charged for mini-bar |

Architecture, decoration and colors, location. Also enjoyed the gym and the swimming pool, nice and warm with a view as it is on the 6th floor. Good value for money (special rate but not convinced we got the Deluxe room which was confirmed to me). See more comments below. We got there as the management from Sheraton over to Melia had just hpappened. Staff not attentive or friendly at first, very busy looking at their computer screen. Wouldn not even look up when we arrived. This improved over our 4 night stay but not enough to mach a supposedly 5*hotel. Buffet breakfast overpriced. Upon departure, they insisted I paid even though I had a special deal, non refundable, with booking.com. Luckily, I had recevied my credit card statement before going on the trip so I knew I had already been charged. Had to insist and finally, upon checking they confirmed it was paid. Hopefully, service will improve over time. |

I was very unhappy that the hotel, on the day I arrived, was no longer a Sheraton Hotel, especially as the brand association was the primary reason I made the booking. The hotel was as comfortable as always, but as it was day 1 for a completely new team, they had some small hiccups with their software at check-in. I expect that they will be fine shortly and the hotel was as comfortable as always. |

beautiful building, luxurious room, if a little sparsely furnished.ery quiet great views , v quiet seemed to be run by a skeleton staff - very few staff on site, the award winning hotel restaurant was closed for the duration of the stay. That was quite disappointing |

We liked the position and the view from our room, the helpfull staff and the quality fittings in the rooms. Like all 4 & 5 Star hotels when you have a captive audience you drive them out of the Hotel to local bars because of the excessive charges at the bar. |

Beautiful and clean room, friendly staff, nice pool, free Internet access on PC's next to the pool, close to tram going into the centre of town The advertisement promised bathrobes and slippers but we didn't get any, free wi-fi access in the lobby but you had to pay for it in the room |

private underground parking is very convenient as well as its location. Breakfast has gone downhill. We have noticed the difference as we stay at this hotel for the last 4 years. |

spacious room automatic mini bar - you may not remove any of the items to put there your water, stain on carpet, a bit old furniture, design a bit outdated not keeping up with the Spanish hotel chains, bathroom far from being clean, very few amenties (no slippers, shaver, toothbrush..). Don't be tempted by international chain name - doesn't deserver more than 3 stars compared to other hotels in the city. |

Reception staff were excellent. Very professional and well informed. Very central location too. Coffee/tea facilities would have been great. Guests could also be told about the blinds in bedrooms when checking in. I felt foolish asking about them, where they were, but I have to say the receptionist was so nice when he was explaining them to me. |

Very friendly staff at the lobby and in the restaurants. Private parking at the hotel is very useful. Very nice breakfast. Parking may be a problem with a big car when turning around the pillars. Coffee should be much stronger ... |

The bathroom was well designed. The shower was fantastic. They had an internet room where I could access the net using a regular PC (without annoying advertisements) and I could print off my boarding pass there as well. This was really useful. The bed itself was made up of two smaller beds. The floor was fairly slick, so the beds kept splitting apart... |

Located across the river from Bilbao’s world-famous Guggenheim Museum, this design hotel offers a fashionable setting for your stay in the Basque capital. |
This elegant 5-star hotel is one of the citys most emblematic buildings and dates from 1926. It boasts a central position in Plaza de Federico Moyúa and an elegant restaurant. |
This trendy, design hotel is full of fun features, in the same spirit as its world-famous neighbour – the Guggenheim Museum. It was designed by the renowned artist, Javier Mariscal. |
After a full refurbishment (January 2006), the hotel 4-star Barceló Avenida is now one of the main reference points in Bilbao. |
